  1. The producer of this movie described it as "a 1970s political thriller masquerading as a big superhero movie." One of the actors liked to say "cut the check!" whenever something had gone right or a scene had been completed. The phrase caught on during filming, and before long everyone on-set was saying it. However, according to the directors, he overdid it so many times that it started to lose effect after a while. That same actror's appearance in this film fulfills his dream of playing a Marvel comic book character. He wrote a series of e-mail pleas to Marvel, wanting to play any comic character that would appear on film. Though the studio repeatedly replied to him that they will respond in due time, Mackie's emails caught the attention of producer Kevin Feige, who subsequently offered him a role George.
  2. Okay, then... Just Cause If Lucy Fell Home Alone 3 The Horse Whisperer Eight-Legged Freaks Lost in Translation George
  3. Here are synopses of several shows aired on SyFy. Name two to win the round. This show follows the exploits of Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) and her quest to protect various cryptids, legends, and abnormal animals/people with certain extraordinary powers and abilities (which most people would consider "monsters"). She is initially aided in her quest by her reluctant protégé Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne); her intrepid, if somewhat reckless, daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup); the talkative geek and lycanthrope Henry Foss (Ryan Robbins), a computer and security expert; and her taciturn, Homo heidelbergensis-like assistant, played by Christopher Heyerdahl (whose character is unnamed, but listed as "Bigfoot" in the show's credits). This prequel to a very popular show (itself a re-imagining of another sci-fi show decades earlier) centers on the happenings of one planet of the Twelve Colonies of Kobal. Due to low ratings, the show was cancelled without showing the final five episodes. All episodes are available on DVD. When FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) is dispatched to a small town in Maine, on a routine case, she finds herself becoming increasingly involved in the return of "The Troubles", a plague of supernatural afflictions that have occurred in the town at least twice before. With an openness to the possibility of the paranormal, she also finds a more personal link in the town that may lead her to the mother she has never known. This show centers around Bo, a succubus, and all sorts of good and bad fae (werewolves, gnomes, valkyries, etc. The voice-over introduction to each episode is: "Life is hard when you don't know who you are. It's harder when you don't know what you are. My love carries a death sentence. I was lost for years, searching while hiding; only to find that I belong to a world hidden from humans. I won't hide anymore. I will live the life I choose." This series follows five people with superhuman abilities, led by noted neurologist and psychiatrist Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), as they investigate criminal cases involving other suspected super-powered people. Rosen and his team operate under the auspices of the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the criminal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Defense. While investigating these crimes, it does not take the team too long to discover that a group known as "Red Flag", which was thought defeated and eliminated long ago, is using other super-powered people to commit crimes. Incidentally, I found out that this series had been cancelled when its cancellation was mentioned on "The Big Bang Theory." George
  4. Apparently, this oddity has occurred a few times in the NHL but only once in MLB: What three brothers played for the same MLB team at the same time? Extra credit: what team, and which positions did they play? (FYI: they weren't just on the roster at the same time, they were actually on the field together.) George
  5. Definitely a famous tune, though I think the only words I know are the chorus. George
  6. I believe it's actually "Look what they've done to my song, Ma." Close enough, though, since no one else was getting it. George
  7. I think I've heard of this one, but I can't remember who it was. It wasn't all that long ago... George
  8. Flipping all the cards. Heartbreak Ridge. Eastwood as a gunnery sergeant training a recon marine troop. In one scene, he's knocked out, and when one marine grabs his hand to wake him, he stirs and gives that line. It's quite an entertaining movie, but probably not a good choice for this thread. FREE POST George
  9. The League of Distinguished Gentlemen? George
  10. Hawkman is correct. I'm not sure how THIS got past DC's legal department, but I bet it's fun: http://majorspoilers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/hawkman11.jpg
  11. LOL. No. Hodge played the character in "Black Adam"; Shanks played him on a few episodes of "Smallville"; and Hentschel played him on "Legends of Tomorrow." George
  12. Yes. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were among the main cast members. The screenplay was written by Fey. George
  13. This 2004 film was remade as a Broadway musical in 2018. Two of the stars were regulars on Saturday Night Live. This was also the screenwriting debut for one of them. Many scenes were cut and several lines were re-worked to give the movie a PG-13 rating (rather than an R). Tim Meadows broke his hand before shooting and had to wear a cast, so the explanation that his character, Mr. Duvall, had carpal tunnel was added. A remake has just been released. Some of the cast of the 2004 film appear, but in different roles. George
  14. Interview with the Vampire? George
  15. I would have gotten it from Aldis Hodge and Michael Shanks, though I also saw Nuckols and Hentschel in this role. I found two more actors who did live versions of this role: Jim (not Hugh) Jackman, in a Baby Ruth commercial; and Ryan Digger in an adult film version. (!) George
