  1. My wife was involved with Nuskin and its multi-level marketing business until it started to push this "Secret" nonsense. We don't create our own universe; that's God's business. Whereas PFAL seems to limit God's participation to our believing, The Myth of Attraction removes God from the equation altogether, in essence making us all gods (and not particularly wise ones, at that). One of the speakers on the videotape claims to be a quantum physicist, as if that somehow would give credibility to this hokum. It is true that Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle predicts that we cannot observe something without affecting it, there is no reason to predict an "attraction," and the effect is smaller the larger the matter is that we observe. I might kill a microbe by sticking it under a microscope slide, but my looking at Mt. Everest has VERY LITTLE effect on the mountain. And, as another poster pointed out, they try to sway you with guilt. Instead of "You know what killed that little boy! It was the fear -- in the heart --of that mother!" you get bad stull by attracting it, so it's all your fault. I guess if I'm God, I'm also the Devil. What a crock. George
  2. Now that we're all friends again -- "What about Kozak's family? What if they come here for revenge?" "If that happens, I'll stand up, look them straight in the eye, and offer them a bribe." "I really am very grateful for all you've done. That is why I'm going to let you take your hand off my thigh instead of shattering every bone in your body." George
  3. I'll take this opportunity to jump in. "You work for a man?" "Yes." "So he tells you what to do and you do it?" "Yes!" George
  4. The first couple of posts in a thread usually give the rules. Sometimes parameters are added later, if an obvious way to "cheat" the system appears. For instance, in the "Name that..." threads, googling is not allowed, becuase they're supposed to be memory tests, not tests of web searching skills. A general rule of the "Name that..." and "Pictionary" threads is that the person who correctly guesses gets to post teh nest line (or puzzle). Sometimes, the person whose turn it is may open it up to anyone, if he is uninspired, uninterested, or generally unavailable. We occasionally have "post-bys" where someone guesses correctly and then disappears. After a couple of days, anyone may jump in. Specific to this thread, any of the "live" ST TV shows are open game, though you will find that many more players are familiar with the original series and NG than with the later series. And the person POSTING the lines may, of course, google for accuracy. Correct guesses must include the series and either the episode title or enough of a description to identify it (as I believe I did with my last two guesses). That being said, "I really am very grateful for all you've done. That is why I'm going to let you take your hand off my thigh instead of shattering every bone in your body." George
  5. It's not your turn, Michael. However, being in a gracious mood and not having another episode at my fingertips, I cede my turn to you. At first I was tempted to guess "Who Mourns for Adonis?" but I realized that the "god who bleeds" was actually Kirk in the episode where he loses his memory on one of the countless doomed planets in the ST universe, actually marrying one of the inhabitants. An eventual mind-meld with Spock restores his memory in time for the two of them to activate a repeller ray to save the planet. Kirk's pregnant wife dies, though. George
  6. Probably a good idea. But please give the title of this film before quoting another. George
  7. It must be the episode with the Excalbians, the rock-creatures who get Kirk and Spock to team up with Surak and Abe Lincoln against Kahless, Col. Green, Genghis Khan, and some hag to see if "good" is better than "evil." My wife always gets ticked at me when I tell her she's prepared a "worthy"meal, not realizing that I'm quoting "Lincoln" attempting to reassure "Surak" (not realizing the latter was already dead): "A worthy effort, Surak...Worthy!" George
  8. It sounds like the original series episode "A Taste of Armageddon." George
  9. Am I the only one who watches these things? John Larroquette Blind Date Kim Basinger George
  10. Raf is usually gone on weekends.... George
  11. It was "Ruby, Baby." I prefer the Dion version, but Steely Dan and Bjork (!) also covered it. You're up, Wasway! George
  12. Every episode of every series. And don't forget that phasers, photon torpedoes, warp drive, and the transporters are all off-line! George
  13. Ummm...you don't HAVE to wait for Raf... George
  14. "Who hath sinned, that he was born blind? The man, or his parents?" It appears that Pharaseism is alive and well at TWI. As you mentioned, there were many who prayed for you with a loving heart. I pray as well. And, yes, if your son is miraculously delivered, it will be to God's glory. (Not TWI's.) Until then, your love for him is the greatest good he can have! George
  15. Steely Dan did a cover of the song, but its title is not "Nitefly" (or anything similar). George
  16. I think it's actually "Moi, aussi." if I remember my college French. "I, too" would be correct in English, but "Me, too" is proper French. George
  17. Each time I see you baby my heart cries I'm gonna steal you away from all those guys This song has been covered at least twice, so any of three performers will do. George
  18. Remember the man at the Beautiful gate of the temple? Jesus must have passed him many times. Peter and John must have passed him many times without being able to heal him. Thankfully, he did eventually get deliverance, but was he the only cripple at the temple? I doubt it. The man Jesus healed at the pool in Bethsaida wasn't the only person needing deliverance. Was he the only one with faith to be healed? Maybe, but again I doubt it. Faith is certainly a necessary condition for deliverance, but it apparently isn't a sufficient condition. George
  19. I'm pretty sure you're right, Pam (though maybe we should wait for WW to confirm). With a title like that, though, maybe you should have put it in quotes... George
  20. I'm not sure. I'd better go ask Mr. Wilson. George
  21. "Sgt. Saunders" was the star, but I liked "Cage" and "Littlejohn" the best. George
