  1. Oh, but he's a graduate of this-or-that theological seminary. HE'S got the ANSWERS!

Loser buys the winner a bottle of fine scotch?
  3. In principle, I agree with you. But then exactly the same rule should apply to every other extracurricular group that wants to use public facilities for little or no cost. Groups like the Muslim Student Association, etc. If any exclusive group is allowed use of the facilities, either disallow that usage universally, or allow the usage universally. No double standards.
  4. Sure, just another 5 BILLION 999 MILLION 9 HUNDRED THOUSAND walking corpses to go, right?
  5. The most ironic part of the whole thing is that TWI's attitude about second-rate charities is right, in the case of the Tsunami Relief Funds. There was SOOO much money given, and no way to get money and supplies to those that it was intended for. A huge percentage of the money went to make a lot of politicians in that area really rich. The Tsunami Relief Funds were much more abused than the Christian Children's Fund (you know the one, with a teary Sally Struthers crying "please help the chidren!"). Only 10% of the money that goes to the CCF actually gets to needy children. The rest goes to "administrative costs".
  6. Well, let's see, to the best of my recollection, the GreaseSpot Flat Stanleys have been to: Maine Massachusetts Florida Arizona New Mexico Minnesota Kansas Texas California Canada Indiana North Carolina Rhode Island My apologies to anyone that I've inadvertently left off this list. Again, I'm doing this from memory. Please feel free to remind me, either via PT, email, or a post in this thread. The other Flat Stanleys in Zach's classroom have been to Hawaii, Okinawa, Japan, China, England, France, most of the other states in the union. But there has been NO other Flat Stanley in the school district that has been as well traveled as the Greasespot Flat Stanleys. Thanks to everyone! Zach really had a tremendous time with this, and with receiving the cards and pictures (and goodies!) sent.

  9. No WonderBra for Markie Post! That's all natural. That soap was quite seasoned, especially for a UK country. Of course, I wouldn't really call it manly.
  10. Okay, to be technically accurate - .00000166666666666667 % had been "reached".
  11. Right Hand Man. Yes, let your imagination run wild.
  12. Oakman, I thought I already said that!

Well, coolchef, that's what it's called on its tag. Cindy! has tasted it, and all she can taste is the mint part. The leaves are just a tad darker than normal. Perhaps I'll look it up on Google or Ask.com.
  14. As far as martinpuke's definition/proclamation/turd spewing, I wasn't there for it (thank God!) As far as docvic's (praise be his name) definition: I had always heard that it meant that everyone in the world would have an opportunity to say "yes" or "no" to the Word of GodTM.

Yesterday, I grilled hamburgers for the ! family. We went out to the garden and picked the lettuce greens and some spinach to put on them. In a month or so, we'll be able to pick onions, tomatoes, lettuce greens, oregano, and jalapenos for our gilled burgers, which will be eaten on Cindy!'s homemade bread, and we'll pick corn to be eaten as a side dish. We also have peas, broccoli, jabaneros, poblanos, bell peppers, beans, asparagus, potatoes (my first attempt at potatoes, not sure how they'll come out), dill, chocolate mint, chives, rosemary, basil, thyme, sage, strawberries, and one or two other herbs that I forget. Most of this was from seed, but many of the herbs were not.
  16. Yup, that's a good idea. I'll do that either later today or tomorrow.

Raf - You know you can always do like you did before - make a "hey, I need a quick shot of moral support" phone call.
  18. "The Shawshank Redemption"?
  19. Okay, someone that wishes to remain anonymous sent me this info: "I SPOKE WITH RICO SPAGHETTI TODAY" Dunno if they traced the call or not, and I don't really care, but I didn't tell him who I was despite his efforts to get my name. They DID Donate to the Tsunami Relief Fund but he didn't say how much. He thought initially I was calling from the Red Cross when he answered the phone. He said a lot of other things I don't have time right now to type up, but he did say that they do a lot of pr related things and he gets busy with "the work of the ministry" and doesn't always have time to report everything. I suggested a page in the rag that listed everything they were doing pr-wise. He asked what my definition of wisdom is - mine - not TWI's - and said, when I asked him why he wants to know - that he was trying to get where I'm coming from.
  20. That's just it, learning. Where was it announced? In a national setting such as a STS, or was it a branch or limb meeting? If it was in a branch or limb meeting, it may have been deliberate mis-information.
  21. Hmmm, I think perhaps you may have seen the movie in question? The beginning of that quote is "The eleventh commandment is . . .".
  22. Now, Jonny, don't criticize a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do, you're a mile away, and you have his shoes! If you *had* read the entire thread, you would understand what I posted.

    Hurricane Supplies

Instead of a battery operated radio or flashlight, get a crank-powered radio or a self-recharging flashlight. The flashlight recharges itself by getting shaken - the movement causes an electric current which recharges the electricity storage device in the handle.
