I LOVE Onions!!! Hey anybody know this guy that just got hired to replace Showalter in Tejas? Ron Washington?

What a breath of fresh air it must be -- in the middle of a horrible situation -- for that church, Haggard himself, and Mrs. Haggard to hit it head on with a candor we did not see in TWI. Given that we are all, obviously, in need of a savior, I can't help but look at that guy with a sense of compassion, rather than indignation. Most certainly, his removal from his job was necessary and appropriate, but reconciliation seems possible in a way that would not be if all the parties to the situation remained in adamant public denial of what took place and who was responsible. It takes guts and a certain level of integrity to get that honest, which some cannot even do when so obviously caught in it. btw, I wrote this after reading Haggard's letter, one by his wife to the congregation, and a press release from the church overseers.

Simon, I find it completely reasonable that Arte would be talking about the Angels, Jeff Weaver and the Cardinals (since the Cards won the WS)... and not at all surprising that he didn't have anything to say about the Dbacks.... I'm sure he's a great guy... but if his politics are like that other baseball team owner who ran for (became) prez, I say I hope Arte sticks to baseball... it apparently has been berry, berry goood to him! :)
-
It's not always a GUY!!! but(t) ya gotta make sure the ol' prostate doesn't take ya down! and Simon already uses reading glasses, I think. Otherwise, he seems to be in good health (for a probable opponent of Arizona propositions 201 and 206 though we haven't discussed it)...

That's good because it's a proprietary secret (that means I might be willing to sell it, but not to put it in the public domain)! Can't find it! But I also can't understand how you could possibly offend anyone? Rhino said: Who'd even want to? And since "rhino" was (I understood) the latin word for NOSE -- as in RhinoPLASTY (a nose job) or RhinITIS (nasal allegies or infection) -- what would we do without you to SNIFF out the facts...?

Ding, ding, ding... CORRECT. Should we have a virtual surprise party for him here?
-
Or Leo Mazzone... (but I suppose not too many GS baseball fans loyal to the O's these days).
-
Not only THAT, but one of our own will hit the big FIVE-OH this weekend..... (and it's not me... I hit that mark almost two years ago).

I agree completely... May he live long and (continue to) prosper.

Indeed... honestly, where's Vin Scully when you need him?

I suppose, from a superstitious point of view. However, that year (2003) they had a good season, and were doing well in the playoffs until a certain point in time (not from a superstitious way of looking at it) in that year's playoffs. Of course, their performance since 2003 may support your supposition.

Rino, Once again you show your lack of reading comprehension. Bartman was a reference point in time. However, had you ACTUALLY READ what I wrote, you would have noticed that the subject of the sentence was The Cubs. The predicate, or verb (what action did the subject take) was FOLDED. I will refrain from calling YOU a moron.

I went to a FIGHT and a hockey game broke out!!! No, seriously, shouldn't this thread be in a forum called "Keep you eye on the PUCK"? Anyway, I think MSG is a regional sports network, isn't it? I'm out here in Coyote country. But they're hardly worth watching anyway.

I agree that this year's series was not exciting at all. However, when Boston won, it was exciting, because of Boston's history. Off the top of my head, I don't remember much about 2003... oh, yeah, Marlins got in the WS because the Cubs folded after the Steve Bartman incident. I seem to remember that the Angels in 2002 was an enjoyable series (but don't recall any details)... However, 2001 was REALLY a GREAT SERIES. That WAS exciting. And it was more than just Diamondbacks fans who said so back then (though I happen to be a fan and got to go to game 1 at the BOB). I'm with you on that... Heck, the WS used to be such a big deal that day games during the week warranted major attention...

Gongrats Granddaughter... ya done good! Babies are sooooo cool! Hope he stays healthy and sleeps through the night real soon! :)

Indeed 83+79=162 johniam said Cards finished 83-78. Is that not correct?
-
Oops... I knew the 83 wins... and figured the losses as the accountant I used to be... plugging it in with the understanding that the season is 162 games. Ok, that would be 83-79. So, there was a rain out that didn't get made up?
-
Congrats to the Cards (and Cards fans)... they clearly outplayed the Tigers. Truly an amazing feat for a team that finished the regular season ONE GAME OVER .500
-
Can you believe what's going on now? Well, the Tigers' pitchers might just have the next several months to work on their fielding skills!
-
This might help answer that last one, niKa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borat and, btw, Borat is scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, Oct 30 (which is my daughter's 17th birthday, not that that matters in this discussion ).

Hey Rhino, How ya feelin now? Good, I hope!
-
Yeah RHINO... I'll cheer with ya! (but am kinda rooting for the tigres).
