Does anybody else here cook without recipes?
Rocky replied to Psalm 71 one's topic in In the Kitchen
Sounds gooood, but I'm in a low-fat mode... not dieting, just adjusting what I eat to a new standard... maybe one of these days I might get a couple pieces of bacon and try it. I dooooo like the sound of Psalmie's idea: "Rocky, I've done lime, butter, cumin and parmesan cheese on corn too! MMMM!" I'll probably try that one this week. I'm still grillin... high temps still in the mid to upper 80s here in sunny Scottsdale. Thanks for the ideas -

I only watched a few minutes... saw the 56 yard rushing TD that put OSU up 34-24... it musta been one he11uva game. So, WG, don't you think it would be fitting for OSU to play Rutgers for the REAL national championship game?

Me too... I was reminded by a news item yesterday about the health properties on red wine... so, I got me a fresh bottle of chianti to have a small glass with dinner from time to time.

Yeah, I like multi-grain Freschetta frozen pizzas... and whenever I cook one, I cut it in half (otherwise, I might eat the whole thing before morning), and ALWAYS put tomato slices, onion and roasted garlic (which becomes toasted garlic) on it. Often I also use fresh roasted bell peppers too.

Of course there's always the food channel to get ideas from... from Bobby Flay, I learned about roasting peppers (many different varieties) on the grill... and though I knew about this years ago, I love grilled corn on the cob... somewhere I saw the idea to skip the salt and butter on the corn and use cilantro and lime... it's pretty good. I've been cooking on my patio caddy (small gas grill) most of the time because I live in a retirement manufactured home community that's got some aging infrastructure (if people don't watch electricity usage in the summer, we get outages). So, I don't do much concocting, but when I did/do, I never measure... always add by taste or appearance. -
Don't forget ONION with that garlic... and for many dishes, chili powder (or just cumin). I really like Mrs. Dash's Garlic and Herb variety. But garlic and onion go in/with EVERYTHING -- no hints, no need for subtlety with these two. :)

MAINSTREAM Media is CORPORATIONIST, which has reflected the politics of the first half of the first decade of the third millenium (A.D). (hint: until last week, extreme right-wing) Were they to tell both side ????????????? My hunch is those who don't see more than one angle to the news may not be looking very closely. "we might have a different perspective of what is truly happening." Are you saying that your perspective is dependent on someone else giving it to you? That's not how I got mine. And does the TALK RADIO you listen to give "both sides?" Or does someone, with bias they don't even deny, on that broadcast outlet tell you what the "other side" is?

It sure beats the alternative!

Now THAT was FUNNY!!!! :jump: I'm REALLY glad I didn't have a mouth full of coffee when I read that!

People sometimes say to me, Hey Rocky... HOW can you be so F***ing FUNNY! Ya know what I tell 'em? I tell 'em -- every night before I go out on stage, I put a slice of baloney in EACH shoe... and when I go out on stage... I FEEEELL FUNNY!!!

All right folks, before we go for a run to rack up them aerobics points, I want everyone to turn in their Sing Along The Way's to number 51 ... Simon, will you lead the singing?? Oh, yes, let's do our jumping jacks too!

Thanks for this history lesson David... and for the song file Dr. Sudo... As I was overseas on Nov 10, 1975, I had really never heard of this history... but obviously had subsequently heard the song, without realizing its significance. The Edmund Fitzgerald was the subject of some of the answers on Jeopardy... or else I'd have known even less than I did... I never realized until now that it was so contemporary. Thanks

T U niKa... and here's to you and all our other freedom lovin friends and fans!

Are you sure? It is FAUX News after all... Wasn't it them same dudes (and dudettes) that on election day couldn't bring themselves to say the Dems had a big lead... instead the caption read "one PARTY has a big lead"? What's this smiley supposed to mean?

I know what ya mean there Hiway... but JDD seems to get it going when he plays the Dbacks... I don't know if it has anything to do with his little bro' having an outstanding rookie season at SS for the snakes... but Stephen Drew was one of the bright spots for the Arizona franchise this year...

And hearty, JOYFUL A M E N to that from little ol' trouble maker me! (And I voted for ONE Republican this time... someone I know and trust). But I also am as tickled as can be because I cast one of the votes that went a long way toward giving them elephants one of their most surprising losses... :jump: The TIMES they are a changin'!

What a breath of fresh air it must be -- in the middle of a horrible situation -- for that church, Haggard himself, and Mrs. Haggard to hit it head on with a candor we did not see in TWI. Given that we are all, obviously, in need of a savior, I can't help but look at that guy with a sense of compassion, rather than indignation. Most certainly, his removal from his job was necessary and appropriate, but reconciliation seems possible in a way that would not be if all the parties to the situation remained in adamant public denial of what took place and who was responsible. It takes guts and a certain level of integrity to get that honest, which some cannot even do when so obviously caught in it. btw, I wrote this after reading Haggard's letter, one by his wife to the congregation, and a press release from the church overseers.
