  1. Oh, and I forgot earlier... CSI is regularly on the SPIKE network. CSI Miami is regularly on A&E... In fact, I didn't start watching CSI at all until about 2003 and then I watched on SPIKE until it seemed like I knew all the episodes already...
  2. Sno Cones all around! It's time to celebrate!
  3. ***Hey all *** Today is Tom Strange's Birthday!!!!!!!! HAPPY 53! OH Strange One!!!
  4. The guy you described from CSI Miami is probably Horatio Caine, also known as "H" and played by David Caruso. The blonde chick is Emily Procter, who plays Calleigh Duquesne and in WW her character's name was Ainsley Hayes. She's definitely a fox... for a youngster (age 38). And I really liked Leo McGarry too... and did some grieving myself when he died. I'm not familiar with the folks in CSI NY (since I don't watch it and haven't watched Forrest Gump)... but looking it up, that was probably Gary Sinise... Oh, and I like various kinds of muffins... blueberry is a favorite. ;)
  5. THAT is WHY you would be well advised to look into resources for gifted kids. THEY (the professionals and parents who deal with gifted kids) understand the SOCIAL and emotional issues you have been describing.... IF you want effective insight, at least look into it. You don't need to have your son tested for giftedness in order for you to get insight on those social and emotional developmental issues.
  6. Abi, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but it sounds like you have a potentially gifted child. And even if not gifted, clearly you describe social issues MANY gifted children have to deal with. I can tell you that there ARE a good number of resources regarding this type of situation. My stepson had similar experiences when he was about that age. He did outgrow the social awkwardness, but stayed very bright. He graduated from the University of Arizona last May with a degree in Optical Engineering and is now working for a major defense contractor in Tucson as an optical engineer. I'm incredibly proud of him... but his primary grades in elementary school were quite an ordeal... So, in checking with special ed teachers, they probably have some insight on how some kids who may seem like they need special ed alternatively may in fact be very bright and talented students... I hope you find some good insight.
  7. You must be pretty young then... he's only a year older than me. btw, I don't eat crackers in bed... but I like to eat muffins!!!

    LikeAnEagle

And from one eagle fan to another, my wishes for the best of days for you and yours.
  9. Besides being the "main man," Billy Peterson is one of the executive producers... my hunch is they anticipated a lot of angst (and rumors of firings or other misfortune) if he were to be missing for several episodes without warning. I've also noticed that some of the writing in the Miami version sometimes has holes in it... it's hard for me to think of an example at the moment, but I know it's mildly bugged me a couple of times. And of course, all of the versions (as well as the Law & Order series(es)) get their DNA results almost instantaneously, which is not how it really works. Oh, AND CSI Miami is really nice in HD. They seem to have more outdoor photography and it's spectacular in HD.
  10. NO. Gil Grissom is NOT leaving CSI. When I first started seeing the commercials that tried to get people to believe he was leaving, I looked for news about it. I found something last week that said it was only temporary. Then, last night when Warrick hugged him, he (Grissom) expressed his surprise and clarified that (in TV years anyway) he would be back in four weeks. And Kathy, I (pretty much always) watch (new episodes of) CSI Miami, but for some reason can't get excited about CSI NY.
  11. Considering that those things about Ellison's past ties with the Nation of Islam, etc., are not WIDELY known (outside of MN), but the bigotry being aimed at Ellison reaches far beyond MN, I'd have to say I doubt it. Religious bigotry doesn't wait -- until people have done in-depth research -- before rearing its ugly head.

    Fiesta Bowl 2007

Well, as I figured, this 2007 Fiesta Bowl game has become an Instant Classic. However, instead of airing on ESPN Classic, I got it tonight (and tivo'd it) on Fox Sports Net AZ. So, if you want to check it out, look for the FSN regional channel available in your area.
  13. Got a poifect score! But apparently I couldn't copy and paste correctly to get the graphic score box to post here.
  14. Aren't you glad you married a smart gal?
  15. I'd echo several of the well-thought out posts, but am most thankful for the thoughtful and reflective post our new compadre William shared. So, thanks William. I appreciate the quotes from Jefferson. and btw, my own personal view on this subject probably comes pretty close to how MarkO put it for himself (the part before ignoring the new Congressman's "statement"). That guy's statement is quite benign compared to what the Imam's did last month to get themselves tossed off of a US Airways flight. And as to whether I'd "be more comfortable" if there were no Muslims in Congress... I'd rather see more of them. Diversity of thought, or rather TOLERANCE of diversity of thought (and of race, and of gender, and of sexual persuasion) is BETTER for America than homogenized thinking and behavior. And by HOMOGENIZED I do NOT mean making them like HOMOs, and DO mean social mores (unwritten rules) that enforce a lack of tolerance and diversity.
  16. Heh heh! It's a happy Thursday for me too... I just found out I'm going to be saving (as in not incurring costs for) a great deal of my medical costs for 2007... Praise be to the VA.... er, no that's not it... how about, Praise be to Allah... no that can't be it either... oh, well, I'm definitely thankful regardless (or is that IRregardless?... just kidding on the praise part and the IRregardless... but not kidding on the 2007 medical costs).
  17. Hey niKa, Glad you enjoyed the Fiesta Bowl game... even though the outcome had to be a bit disappointing. Didjya get any snow while you were in Tucson? I understand it snowed at least up by Mt Lemmon.
  18. Well, "rocky" = Dangerous Gremlin My real first name comes back as Fabulous Rocket And with various combinations of my name and/or initials, I come up variously with: Cobra Giant General Volcano Smelly Tiger I think I like General Volcano best out of those possibilities....
  19. Heh heh! And Mork from Ork dates back to about when we were first "in res" at the Way College of Euphoria! I remember talking with one gal who was visiting to teach a class that started in with Mork-isms and I didn't have the foggiest idea what she was talking about... little did I know how funny Robin Williams would turn out to be.

    Fiesta Bowl 2007

How about that kid that proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend while on nationwide tv right after that unbelievable ending to the game! Pretty clever... and hopefully he's got someone that tivo'd it... WOWZA's right!
  21. Hey ZSHOT -- Have a good one dude! I'm glad to know ya!

    Fiesta Bowl 2007

With all the respect due to the opponent (Oklahoma -- to which certain GSC folks are loyal) which played a very good game too, How about that Boise State! Anyone see the game? Final score 42-41 I believe... I watched bits of it... and will look to tivo when it's replayed on ESPN (Classic) as an Instant Classic. Talk about ballsy -- a first year head coach and a big bunch of underdogs who refused to lose.
  23. Well, as easy as it is to complain about ticket prices AND the way the Dbacks manage the BOB (which has been pretty lousy since the first year -- 1998), the DO have 2 sections of seats that they sell only on game days (no advance ticket sales) for $1 (one dollar). They are the farthest sections down each baseline in the upper deck. To get a seat for $1, a fan must get in line before the gates open. The box office opens when the gates open for each game (two hours before first pitch). And the seats in the first couple of rows in those sections aren't bad seats. It's a pain in the bee-hind to wait in that line (especially for day games in the middle months of the season... 100+ temps AND no shade), but when the team is playing well, it can be worth it. The line and the B O is on the NE side of the stadium. For evening games, the sun has already made it far enough to the west so that there's at least shade.
