    After Facing Cancer

OK, so yesterday I saw the dermatologist and he said that since I've been clean so far I don't have to see him for another year, instead of six months. I'm still waiting for the blood test and x-ray results but I don't expect any surprises. I'm glad that I get to bring this thread up one last time with good news before this place closes.
  2. This was a post I was looking for from Sept. of 2002. "This morning we got a black and white short haired kitten. He's sleeping while I'm typing this. Right now we're feeding him "Eukanuba" which is what he got at the pet store. We haven't decided on a name yet. We're thinking of naming him "Bob" after a friend of ours' who's allergic to cats !" Bob the Cat is 8 1/2 years old now. No mice have gotten into the house so he chases bats that have gotten in instead. I guess instead of a "mouser" he's a "batter."
  3. Okay, I'm wanting to look over my old posts and it will only go back one year. How do I go back to the beginning of this edition, which I thought was 2002 ? There's some memories I want to print out.
  4. Wow, I'm going to miss this place. I'm going to have to go through my posts and print out some since my life has ended up on these pages at different points. It's been a lot of fun getting to know you people.
  5. How about John Lennon's "Gimme Some Truth"?

    My new job

Congrats to you. May this be the start of many wonderful things in your life.
  7. Just watched "The Zombie Diaries". It sucked and was a waste of $5.00. This one's getting dumped in the bin for the library book sale so some good might come of it.
  8. So what are your viewing choices for this Halloween?
  9. My friends and I have watched "Frankenstein", "Bride Of Frankenstein" and "Son Of Frankenstein." Now we can watch "Young Frankenstein" and they can catch all the references.
  10. "Chiller Theater" and "Creature Features". I remember those well!
  11. Soul Searcher, I've got those two. My copy of "Crawling Eye" starts with the title screen of "The Trollenberg Terror", it's European title. I have "Devil's Messenger" on one of those "50 Movie" packs. I hadn't checked it out yet but I'll make a point to bump it to the top of my watch list.
  12. It's October, thought I'd bump this up. Tomorrow my friends and I are watching the original "Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff. We plan to go through the whole series, ending with "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein", throwing "Young Frankenstein" in there as well.
  13. Awhile back we did this and this I didn't realize it was four years ago, where has the time gone?
  14. So no more tipping the guy at the curb $1 or $2 to check the bags in right there ? I'll be flying out of O'Hare or Midway.
  15. I'm worried. I plan to fly to Florida this fall and it will be my first flight since Nov' of 2000. Anything I should be prepared for ?
  16. I thought he was referring to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvuI8d57N9I
  17. Probably you could have put it as "what has helped you have a relationship with God and Christ post TWI. How have you found your way after The Way ?" That would probably get a better response.

Belle, I'll be praying for your friend. I have a friend in our church who's being treated for breast cancer. She went through chemo and it really freaked me to see her looking as pale as my brother in law looked right before he died. She's done with the chemo and is clear but she's just started going through radiation to be totally safe. I feel the good thing when I bring this topic up is that it's giving people a chance to talk who are dealing with this either themselves or with friends.

Another six month checkup and the tests came back clean. Yeah ! Dad's doing fine too. 84 years old and he's out riding his motorcycle.
  20. Ham, Considering the big cult scare around here was in '79 I don't think the name would register.
  21. The group I'm in is about 1/2 ex TWI and about 1/2 people who are more recent. I'm sure many of the newer people aren't aware of the TWI connection, to them it's just a church. It is not a closed group. People have friends in other churches. There isn't the "us vs. them" mentality that we had in TWI. As a group there hasn't been any community service, people do that on their own. That is something I'd like to see change. My biggest concern is that it doesn't turn into " a spiritual retirement home for aging boomers who were in TWI when they were young." Yes, new information has been brought in from outside. It tends to be from the bottom up instead of vice versa. There's a lot of "Hey, have you heard this guy" among people. For example, someone will be listening to Todd White, then mention it to a friend and they'll say "yeah, I've been checking him out too." For many people it's about walking with God, not hanging on to the old days.
  22. I wonder if people who are involved with offshoots don't say anything for fear of being shot down. I will publicly admit that I have been involved with an offshoot since 1989 when the entire state of Illinois walked away after Martindale's ultimatum. It's been interesting to watch people move away from old TWI attitudes and to see the gradual change "from a cult to a church"." Since I was rank and file and not leadership there's less holding me back than others.

Dooj, I'm so sorry for you. You will be in my prayers. Groucho, I know how special a life long friend is. I know you'll both always cherish your memories of him.
  24. I got involved in TWI on Long Island in the mid 70's. I always thought there was something special about NY Believers and now I see it was because of the foundation Jim gave.
  25. Since we're on this topic I thought I'd bump this one up.
