Just felt that was worth repeating, dude.

I missed my chance to be the first one to say it....... John Lynn, if you're reading this at any point, I'd like to add something at this point. On this thread, Mike and you have so far matched each other on substance, and he's currently leading in the "be a better man" department. If you were aware of my previous communications with him, this would concern you. (I call them like I see them.) In fact, I think he's got a reasonable shot at outperforming you on this thread.

Funny... I also pictured sending over the "late supper" from that movie. Jim would never put a banana in the tailpipe like in the movie, though. That would be unprincipled, and wrong. Plus, he probably knows it doesn't work like in the movies.

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$

Tonto, welcome to the cafe. I thought you were referring to the old joke. "Well, Tonto, it looks like we're surrounded by Indians." "What do you mean WE, kemo sabe?" I thought it might refer to the lawsuits twi has to deal with, maybe. ========= A joke I once heard from another GSC regular once (Raf) said that the Lone Ranger finally found out that Tonto had actually been calling him "que no sabe" all those years. ("Doesn't know what".) In case you're wondering, Kemo sabe means "white shirt" in two languages and "soggy shrub" in one. I figure it referred to the guy's white shirt. -

We've discussed that Job thing and fear thing here before. Might want to do a search on "Job" and "fear" or "Elihu" for the posts, or something. -
Migrating a company from Win98se to XP Pro & Win2003 Server
WordWolf replied to Jim's topic in Computer Questions
Very true. I'll switch from "Classic themes" as soon as I have no choice in the matter. The supposed XP version just seems goofy to me. -
*looks over link* Hm. I wonder if the Pat R. on that site is the same one who used to live in Texas...

PC with popups and a "replacement" IExplorer
WordWolf replied to Kit Sober's topic in Computer Questions
So, what is the URL that is displayed in that line when you open the homepage address as specified above in a previous post? We ARE trying to figure out how to help you. I understand you're frustrated, but getting evasive will get you no closer to a solution. I still say download FireFox while trying to work this out. ================ There's other things you can do, but I don't want to just start shouting ideas randomly. -

When you try to manually change the homepage, what's the URL that is in the space for the homepage? -
If you can wait a bit, I'll send you an e-mail, much more coherent, with all my advice. It's not high-tech, but it IS effective, and it IS freeware stuff (or shareware, in the case of Spybot: S & D.) Most or all of it's on the Registry Keys thread, anyway.

PC with popups and a "replacement" IExplorer

Here's something else. You don't need the internet connection open for this. Open IE. Hit "tools" "internet options" "general" and read the homepage address. If it's not the one you want, try typing the homepage manually there. ================ While working this one out, I recommend the following step. Download FireFox and use that until you have IE cleaned out. http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...Setup-0.9.2.exe Its nearly identical to IE in terms of commands, and can carry your over your favourites in one command. That's the latest version as of today. Then you can use the internet fine while you work on this problem. :)--> In fact, you'll probably want to clean up IE and retain it as a backup program, and use FireFox as your primary program. -

I normally prefer to use less popular sites other than Download.com if there's alternatives, since that one's bound to have more traffic. In the case of the URL I gave you, it has a shorter URL, so I spent the least time typing. :D--> -
Seems like a fair and reasonable conclusion ... :)--> Seems that way until you compare them with an outfit that really DOES treat book sales as a "break-even" proposition and charge the approximate cost of the books, like the "Jehovah's Witnesses"/Watchtower Society. Compared side-by-side, the difference is evident.

Spybot S & D direct download link. http://kujoe.com/freeware/spybot.php Run it, then update it, then activate the immunize function (the corner of bricks), then run it again. -
How do I invite you to the existing pt?

God said nothing against Elihu. God reproved everybody else-Job, and the miserable comforters. That's because Elihu was right. -
Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$
WordWolf replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
The book wasn't exactly a revolutionary eye-opener. You are aware that there's similar and better books out there on the subject, right? You are aware that there's similar and better information out there online for free, right? -
The official story (what lcm said on the tapes) was that it involved loans to twi members where twi did not charge interest. In sounded so pious. The story I've seen at the GSC since involved local politics in the state of Ohio and the support of a candidate.

"makrothumia", "far from wrath", in English. It's one thing to be able to go the distance, which is important. It's entirely another to keep one's cool while all about you are losing theirs. -

Homepage hijackers are often spyware, so Spybot-S&D should tackle it. Remember to UPDATE your AdAware and Spybot-S&D. Also, Spybot's shareware-it's nice to send them a few bucks if they save your machine. Also also, Spybot has an "Immunization" function. Switch that mutha on. Yes, using Mozilla, Opera or FireFox as your browser sidesteps most of those. I just keep IE around as a backup, and use FireFox. Its user interface is VERY similar to IE. FireFox 0.92 is the latest iteration, I hear. The Registry Keys thread has some links, including at least one link to an online virus scanner/remover. Give your system the once-over at least monthly, even if you ARE running an antivirus program. -
Donna M. should be thrown out in the street!

Those of you who aren't aware of her positions should listen to the audio clips of her, stored at the GSC here.... -
If he did, I would give him a fair shake. Neither giving him a "free ride" nor attacking him. If he really wanted dialogue but was afraid ("life is fear in the sand of machinery"-JAL with no proofreader, WTRYPSU), he could always use an alias and be anonymous. ========= Personally, I find it interesting that he had time to write up the articles Jeff linked to, but has yet to respond to us. (He might-there hasn't been a huge passage of time, here.)

But, does he know that you.... *reads the last post* ..oh, never mind, then. :)-->

Despair not! Check your private topics instead. I'm very confident that if you follow all my advice, your machine will be much improved, with viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, and other boojums scoured clean off if it. It will take about 2 days to do it all, though. You know, if it's been MONTHS, you should have asked. I mean, there's people who know more about pcs than me around here....

Unless you're having problems, it probably would be better to leave 98 on it. Meanwhile, clean out the drive of trash. Update AdAware and Spybot: Search and Destroy and run them; update your antivirus and run that.
