  1. My "rule of thumb" is to try to update once a day, or twice at most.

If I update faster, I feel like I'm penalizing posters who don't stay glued

to the site. If I update slower, I feel like I'm stalling a thread.

Generally. That's not a rule, it's really a convention at most.

For now I'm thinking George is right.

    Okie Dokie!

    It's NOT Reba. Good guess!

This was before Reba. Cutting edge for it's time. And the main "heroine" of the show was not the one with the country hit. It was one of the other characters. The show's title was the eponymous character's name. With no live audience, and no laugh track.

  2. Nothing comes to mind yet RG.

GOOD! I took the most obscure lyric I could find in the song, lol.

People say that He won't come

And I don't know what say you

But if He should, would you be the one?

I've got a little question I'd like to ask you

(I can't print the next line because it is the name of the song!)

  3. "The Caine Mutiny"?

    George

OH George you are so close you are so close! I really should have put this in Movie Mashup. Forgive me, I'm learning, I'm learning.

    Okay, THIS should do it.

"Do you really think you'll be able to command this rabble"

    "I'll do my best."

"Well I did my best, and I had the authority of the law. You're a dead man Fletcher"

  4. Well, if you saw it you would be able to string it together I hope. Maybe I'm being prejudice because I LOVE ALL 3 VERSIONS OF THIS MOVIE! IT'S NOT FICTION IT'S BASED ON A TRUE STORY AND PART OF HISTORY! lol.

But sorry if I'm not playing this right! But come on, take another guessie.

  5. "Peter Pan"???????

Interesting guess! But it is not Peter Pan.

I'll not have any of your foul, filthy, gutter ways on board my ship! Do you understand? Good God, pigs in a sty have more comprehension of cleanliness than you buggers have! Now you'll get these decks clean, or by God I'll make you lick them clean with your tongue if you don't mend your ways!

  6. hehe I wondered about that avatar a couple of years ago. I copied the link to her avatar and then entered it in Google image search. baboom, there it was smile.gif

Okay so THAT's how you do it. Thanks for the tip. wink.gif Although that tip wouldn't have helped me now because all the images are linked back to greasespot. But it's good to know for future use. I know we are totally derailing this thread......Sorry!

  7. OH good grief, LOL! It's obvious that anybody who has seen this film would know it by now. I'm taking a stab and guessing the Prince and the Pauper., which I've never seen but what the heck. This sounds like something by Shakespeare. And my knowledge of Shakespeare is limited to the little skit on Gilligan's Island they did.

  8. Well, if I hadn't seen the film, it wouldn't have been easy. Besides, in this thread, the clues are SUPPOSED to be easy! smile.gif

"Feed the birds! Tuppence a bag!"

    George

Easy peasy. Mary Poppins. Unless it's Saving Mr. Banks, which had a clip of that song too, I believe. BUT SINCE I KNOW I'M RIGHT... I'll just throw out the next clue.

Any fool can steer a ship, sir. It's just knowing where to take it.

Although this is from one movie version. I'll accept any movie version of this quote.

  9. Your stock avatar is taken from a painting by Gene Pressler. The whole thing can be seen here http://www.pinterest...-gene-pressler/

Ah! HAP! Thank you! I actually went through all the generic avatars on Greasespot but it's long gone. You don't know how long that's been bugging me. I need a life, I know. But I was SURE it was some silent film star that I couldn't place. Now I know it's a painting of what looks like a 20s flapper. How cute! Thanks Hap, lol.

PS, if anybody is going to look, you have to scroll down just a little to see exie's avatar pic.

  10. Wow, they play that song on the radio all the time and I never knew that was the name of it, lol.

Okay, but you guys will get this in no time. This is a really kick a$$ song though, lol. I'm taking the most obscure verse I could find.

Brothers and sisters, I have many

Stumbling along to do their thing

Love is a song, it's better than any

It's better for music, it's easy to sing

  11. That's the one.

Okay okay! Alright, I'm not going to sift through 138 pages to see if this quote has been done, so I'm just going to throw this one out here. And I'm sure somebody will get it right away.

I could shoot you in the middle of Mardi Gras, and they can't touch me.

  12. You know what George, I KNOW I've seen this freaken movie. If it will only come to my brain before somebody else gets it.

BATMAN!!! THE ONE FROM THE 60'S!!!!!! I have two older brothers, lol. That's it? Isn't it? I remember watching this with them!!!

  13. OK. Here is a quote from this deadpan comedies' beleaguered "heroine."

" I must have been born under an unlucky star. You know I have filled out entry blanks for every single drawing in the supermarket for the last twelve years, and the only thing I ever won was a coupon for a small little jar of tomato paste. But they were out of tomato paste, and by the time they got more in, my coupon had expired. And now I have venereal disease."
