  1. I get that the verse is not about animals, but if you use an illustration, shouldn't you at least get the facts straight. On the other hand, maybe we are all bird-brained. Jerry
  2. Is it the man he knew that was either in the body or out or was Paul speaking of himself as being in or out of the body? Jerry
  3. Like what? Jesus says to look at the birds, which are seen, to illustrate our relationship to Him which is unseen?Jerry
  4. Jesus said: Matthew 7: 21"Not every one that saith unto Me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that doeth the will of My Father who is in Heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that Day, `Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name have cast out devils, and in Thy name done many wonderful works?' 23And then will I profess unto them, `I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.' Doesn't sound like he thought he was saving every human being. Jerry
  5. It sounded just that that there were no conditions placed on righteousness because there were no conditions placed on being born a sinner. As to the punishment of the wages of sin being death or living under the curse goes, seems like there should be some remuneration coming. Jerry
  6. sounds like justice to meJustification. Jerry
  7. I guess I have just seen too many wild animal documentaries. The picture painted in Psalms is idylic, but the other side of the cruelty in nature is not mentioned. For God to feed the lion, another animal must be torn apart. Some birds must starve to feed the scavengers. Not everyone who is industrious gains wealth. Plenty of lazy people have more than they could spend. Jerry
  8. Criticism from the sidelines given to someone playing the game is called coaching. Criticism broadcast to spectators is called commentary. Neither one is right or wrong. They just serve different purposes. Jerry
  9. I don't see it as circular. I think the reasoning comes to the conclusion that God can look at the face of an infant and condemn it for something He made that way to begin with. Now that's a crazy conclusion. That God would not like what he has done.Jerry
  10. Why did you bother to post? To attack other peoples' inane needs. Hope it made you feel superior. Jerry
  11. The idea is that there are no innocents who are born of the first birth. All come into the world condemned and under the curse. Conversely, all who are born from above are innocent and have come out from under the curse through faith.Jerry
  12. Well, I get that the birds rely on God for their provision rather than their own ingenuity, but if I look at nature, there are times when the provision fails. I'm just wondering if having the right perspective on where you ultimately get your provision is not necessarily a guarantee that you will always have everything you need. Just as tithing would not gurantee prosperity. It seems that prosperity is not a sign of being right with God (or vice versa). Jerry
  13. What am I missing here? There are birds that store food for the winter. There are birds that die from starvation every day. Is this advice some kind of generalization?Jerry
  14. Thanks everyone. I think I just will celebrate all weekend. Jerry

Isn't this simply repentance? The exact nature of your wrongs would be specific areas of sin. Then seeking forgiveness from God and others.Jerry
  16. Not Ho Ho Ho, its Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk
  17. This isn't our neighbor's house, but its pretty close.
  18. If they don't think its their fault, someone will come along to correct them. The idea is that God is light and in Him is no darkness. He doesn't make people sick or do anything to harm them in any way. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, so anything bad that happens is his doing. We have the victory over the devil in Christ, so if we can just believe, nothing bad can happen. If something bad happens it is up to the individual to change his believing. If it continues to go bad, the fault lies in the individual for not believing rightly. This makes for a very stressful life. Not much joy and an inability to comfort anyone. And that's the way it was. Jerry
  19. The solar system as a model for man. Seems like you'ld have a lot more than 9 planrts. And just what is it in man that has no dark side? Jerry
  20. Actually it equals 7. Seven coins lieing either heads or tails. Flipped by crcumstance. You can't have half a coin. How would you know one without the other? The crux of the knowledge of good and evil. Maybe the snake was right, we became like gods. Jerry

I'm assuming you mean the symptoms of the disease of alcoholism. Its supposedly these symptoms that are still present even after quitting that produces a dry drunk. AA may help some people with these symptoms, but there are some AA meetings(they're all different to some degree) that preach that the program is the [/i]only way and must be done for life. 12 steps to the grave.I also wonder if these symptoms are supposed to be peculiar to alcoholics or are common to man. Jerry

That's taking it a little too far. They just have to learn other ways of dealing with their shortcomings other than becoming anestetised. Doesn't AA have the concept of a dry drunk? Jerry
  23. The threat of dying if they ate of the tree wouldn't mean much to Adam and Eve if they had never seen anything die. I remember a picture drawn by Jehovah Witnesses in a Watchtower magazine of Paradise when death is done away with. No killing going on at all then. Everyone will be a vegan, and like it. Might end up with a bit of a population problem though. The curse that fell on the earth as a result of sin would have had to alter nature greatly. Even if it was just in the introduction of thorns and thistles. And holding to the idea that it all changed some 6,000 years ago or so, gives rise to some pretty far out explanations of factual evidence in all the sciences. Perhaps the hard facts of science are inadequate to describe the spiritual realities of our origins, so God used a fictional rendering to better address our situation. Nothing dishonest in that approach. Jerry
  24. refering to: yet the animals were created before death came into the world according to Genesis. I guess the line of thinking came from PFAL and rested on some verse (which I can't find at the moment) that said "before death came". Meaning there was no death on the planet until Adam sinned. I suppose it could only have been man that was immortal before the fall, seeing as he was created separately. Jerry
