I used the wooden spoon on my daughter one time when she was almost a toddler...I felt so guilty (I realized how wrong it was) that I got rid of all my wooden spoons and never used it on her or my son ever again. I do believe in spanking occaisonally. The spoon may not be child abuse if used correctly. But the way twi did it it was everyone used the spoon even if it wasn't their own child. I believe this is wrong and yes is child abuse. I don't believe you need to use the spoon and you don't spank for pain but as Tom Strange said is to get their attention...it worked in my house. Although, time outs were great and taking away privileges when they were older. Many parents in twi used the spoon for every reason to use it. That is wrong and yes is child abuse. OM, Now why would you say their parents are fat? I think I've gone through this before about why some poor people might have a weight problem. There are many different reasons....I've also seen people that live nice be over weight. Should I then say that all people that have money are fat? oh and another thing....I don't know if your a parent yourself but I know as I am a parent I've made some mistakes concerning my children. I'm also human and have made mistakes as a human. I'm really sorry you feel that way towards your mother. But remember we all make mistakes in life and life is too short to hold anger. Georgio, You know I don't know how you took the comment about working at mcdonalds but I really take exception on how you responded. As some have asked, what is wrong with working at mcdonalds? I work at mcdonalds myself and really enjoy it. Does that mean I'm lower than you because YOU THINK you have a better job? You think your enraged? Maybe you should try working at mcdonalds for that extra money. It might do you good. Knock down that pride a little. I own my own home, have a decent car (which I just bought) and am raising two kids. I am independent and oh yeah, I work at mcdonalds. LOL chwester My dad always gave to who would people think of bums. They would come to his shop and ask for money. Instead of money he would go take them out to eat. He felt that giving a bum money for booze was wrong but wanted to make sure that he was fed. I think that it was great of him to do that. John was my LC in South Carolina. He was a great guy. His enthusiasm for God always impressed me. I don't follow his ministry simply because I don't know much about it. But I have always had respect for him. I think he is the only one that I really believed that he had a one on one relationship with God. This man would always blow my mind. I think its wonderful that we can give or not give if we want to. I don't have to worry about that hedge of protection sort of thing. I can give because I want to.
