Love and Death on Long Island Jason Priestly Tombstone Yes, I know I've gone into "Traxx" territory, but how do you not trot out the obscure little art house film when you actually have the opportunity?

"If you've met one child with autism, you've met one child with autism." My son has autism. It is false to say that they do not speak until 6 or 7. My boy is 5 and talks up a storm. He's not very articulate. It's tough to understand him sometimes. but he speaks. A lot. I know of other children who are still non-verbal in their early teens. Every child is different. Talking to other parents of children with autism is helpful for insight, support and encouragement, but you need a professional to work with you, your child and your granddaughter to meet her specific needs when it comes to communication. The advice you get from others may or may not apply to your granddaughter. Good luck.

"You Must Be Born Again"

I didn't say I don't like what you think about Ehrman. I said it's irrelevant. My question was what you thought of his point. Please advise if I need to address you as a Sheliak when asking future questions. :) -

Good answer, and well put. At least, the second half was. The first part, about Ehrman, was irrelevant to the point. It was ad hominem. If you're going to challenge Ehrman, challenge what he says, not who he is. The rest of your post hit the mark, though. -
I was reading one of Bart Ehrman's books and he made an interesting point about the verse in John 3 where Jesus tells Nicodemus "you must be born again." The word "again" is anothen, and can mean "from above" or "from the beginning (that is, again)." Because of the double-meaning, Nicodemus is confused and asks if he can return to his mother's womb. Jesus clarifies it for him. According to Ehrman, this conversation could not have taken place as described, and Ehrman gives a compelling reason for it: The conversation relies on the ambiguous meaning of a Greek word -- anothen -- which can be taken one of two ways. The problem, of course, is that our characters are not speaking in Greek. They're speaking in Aramaic. And in Aramaic, there is no word you can place there that carries the same ambiguity. Thus, this was a story written in Greek, best understood in Greek, and highly unlikely to be an account of an actual conversation that took place in Aramaic. Curious to know what others think.

" I'm sorry ma'am, I lied to you. I'm very sorry about that. That man right there is my brother and if he doesn't get to watch 'People's Court' in about 30 seconds, he's gonna throw a fit right here on your porch. Now you can help me or you can stand there and watch it happen."

Does anyone seriously think that the story in Genesis about the Tower of Babel chronicles the origin of different human languages? I mean, we know that is not the case, don't we? -

I like that answer better than the one provided by Word Wolf (no offense, old friend). Thanks! -

Wrong track. Wrong train. Wrong vehicle. The only thing "right" is that it's a drama. Other than this one line, homosexuality is not the subject matter of this movie.
-
"And you can forget about Pritchard. He's homosexual." "I'll be damned." "Ah, so will he, if you believe the Old Testament."
