  1. A couple of questions here: Are there any free video editing programs out there? If there's one already on my computer, how do I find it? I've seen 30 minute videos on youtube, yet I am unable to post one because the file size is too flippin enormous. Any suggestions?
  2. "What a dangerous precedent. What if there more heroes like him? What if courage and imagination became everyday mortal qualities? What will become of us?" "We would no longer be needed. But, for the moment, there is sufficient cowardice, sloth and mendacity down there on Earth to last forever."
  3. "In my mind's eye, I see, three circles joined in priceless, graceful harmony. Two full as the moon, one hollow as a crown. Two from the sea, five fathoms down. One from the earth, deep under the ground. The whole, a mark of high renown. Tell me, what can it be?"
  4. Ah, thanks... In 1902, Father built a house at the crest of the Broadview Avenue hill in New Rochelle, New York... The family took possession of this stout manse on a sunny day in June and it seemed for some years thereafter that all their days would be warm and fair. The best part of Father's income was derived from the manufacture of flags and buntings and other accoutrements of patriotism, including fireworks... There were no Negroes. There were no immigrants...In New York City the papers were full of the shooting of the famous architect Stanford White by Harry K. thaw, eccentric scion of a coke and railroad fortune. Harry K. Thaw was the husband of Evelyn Nesbit, the celebrated beauty who had once been Stanford White's mistress. By the way, all of this, and more, is in the first paragraph of the book.
  5. I guessed the title, ran it through Google, and was right. But unless I can come up with the next puzzle, I'll sit this out. Sound it out, folks, it's not hard. Every word you need is in Now I See's post.
  6. The quotes don't do it for me, but the clue does. Midnight Cowboy ?

    Famous Friends

I know a whole lotta news folks. Does that count?
  9. All fair. "Landslide" does overstate it. But "convincing win" is totally fair.
  10. Sorry. Busy. That last quote, by the way, is used as the name of the production company that distributes the TV show "House." ok, a little more, but no giveaway clues yet... "Anyway, we delivered the bomb."
  11. "That's some bad hat, Harry."
  12. "Martin hates boats. Martin hates water. Martin... Martin sits in his car when we go on the ferry to the mainland. I guess it's a childhood thing. It's a... there's a clinical name for it isn't there?" "Drowning."
  13. No, this is "The Island," isn't it?
  14. Reviewing this thread and I wanted to check something out, so I looked for my copy of Christians Should Be Prosperous and... danged! Can't find it. Threw it out! FREEDOM!!!! Gotta love it.

    It is Finished

I've kept the hard research stuff: The lexicon and concordance can stay. Basically got rid of anything published by ACP or ECP.
  18. This month marks the 20th anniversary of the first time I sat through a PFAL class. The book's been on my shelf all this time. And all the collaterals, too. Take God at His Magnified Word's Way Tells Me So Dynamic in Culture. Jesus Christ is Not God but Is Our Passover and Promised Seed. Are the Dead Receiving the Holy Spirit Today. And on and on. Will the Real You Please Shut Up... It's a lot of bookshelf space. And it's gone. All of it. Every last life-sucking page. Lifelines: Proverbs spoken by a deceitful predator. Gone. And not given away. Trashed. Not sold: dumped in the garbage where it belongs. I didn't put it on e-Bay. I put it in A-Landfill. If you look through my house today and peruse my bookshelf, you will no longer, EVER see anything written by Victor Paul Wierwille. My cult recovery began much later than I thought, many years after I left TWI. As long as I felt some need to hang onto those books, I was still tethered, however slightly, to that experience. No more. I truly am free. It is finished.
  19. I missed Garth's b-day!??! Sorry dude! Hope it was happy!
  20. Years ago, they would have used "featured on Talk Soup" as a promotional slogan, right next to Life mag.
  21. Developed? Dark room? Girl, time to come up with some new, 21st Century analogies!

    A Thread For Quitters

I have to say I am feeling so much better these days. With each passing day, I feel less like and ex-smoker and more like a non-smoker. I'm off Chantix and off nicotine, and I love it. I'd say I stayed on the Chantix regime as prescribed for about a month, but as concerned as I was about the accompanying risks, I did not continue it. I may never know if it worked as intended because it works or if it was because I was determined to quit. All I know is that from the first day I took it, I utterly lost the urge to smoke. But here's the rub: That's not how they claim it works. So how much of it was the drug, and how much was, for lack of a better term, positive believing action?
