Tranquil Autumn
The autumn sun is warm and mellow
Upon my furrowed face
And fills my soul as if
There were no time or space
The geese fly south in perfect formation
Against a pale blue sky
And, honking, they flap their wings
In a hurried goodbye
The morning dew lies in crystal droplets
Upon a faded rose
And gives its paleness new beauty
As it waits for winter in repose
As I sit in tranquil, melancholy mood
And rest my weary eyes,
There upon the faded rose, I spy
Summer's last farewell-
A golden butterfly!
