  2. CoolWaters, did you watch the show? I was given this link from a friend about the cult they highlighted. http://www.rickross.com/reference/polygamy/polygamy186.html gc
  3. *giggle* Was that really taught or are you just making a joke? :)--> Either way its funny! gc
  4. Yeah, like the fast food restaurants!? That's inpirational Sharon! At one time I needed to loose 10 lbs, which on a woman who is almost 5'10" is not a big deal. Now I need to loose 20 lbs, its getting to be a big deal now! :(--> gc

    My turn

    oit, I've read both yours and your sister's experiences, thank you both for writing them. Mine were NOTHING like that. I began as a leaf and stayed a leaf until I left in '88ish with almost our entire state. It took me a long time to realize how much it had affected me. I think one thing that set me up for a delayed fall big time was being taught that there was one right way to read and interpret the bible and that The Way had it. I already knew that I felt betrayed and alone when all but one leader left our area and the rest of us high and dry, the other hit me a few years later. :(--> Thanks again for sharing :)--> Just a note oit, It took me years before I would shared with people that I was part of TWI. Very few know about that, even to this day. But, a little over 5 years ago I fell in love. I told him that I had been part of TWI...he didn't bat an eye ;)--> gc

    23 Thousand?

    Oh man! That's sad! :(-->
  8. Sharon, I can see your point to some degree. If these classes were extracurricular then sure. But at least pfal, to them, was basic bible. It was what they were all about. It never set right with me about being charged nor that the amount would change periodically as the wind blew. When I took the class and questioned being charged for learning to understand the bible I was told something similar to what was said by dmiller "but we were told that if someone *paid* something for what we gave out, they would not ignore it, since they had an investment in the deal." And I was reminded that if I took a class like this at a local college then I would have to pay for it. So I forked up the money. gc
  9. Hi Bramble, I'm not disagreeing with you about the "most churches", because I don't know the extent of things really. I visit two forums (actually they are sister forums owned by the same man) that were started because of spiritual abuse, You should hear the stories out there! :(--> gc

    my Ron Mexico generated name is Gisele Syria my pet/street porno queen name would be Sammy Pierce My pirate name (from the same site that Pirate1974 suggested) is Pirate Juliana the Back-Stabber :)--> gc
  11. What you said is true, because of the accent and the stereotype that all southerners move slow they are considered stupid. (not picking on you here) :)--> We can move fast when we need to ;)--> So she's picked up an accent then. Not surprising. For some its easy pick up the accent you hear all the time whether you want to or not. :)--> gc
  12. What's wrong with Madonna's accent? I haven't seen her in an interview it in a long time, so I have no idea what you are talking about here. :)--> gc
  13. JL, Ha! I've had the brits ask a similar question about how the Americans use their accent when they are supposed to be foreign. ;)--> I love some of the british accents! gc
  14. I don't remember the word "tricked" in the posts. We used it all the time here. You know, when someone actually left the way, they were tricked by the devil! And then we'd pray for them, because they needed it! ;)--> gc

    dmiller, :D--> High octane is right. I warn people about my coffee, It'll put hair on your chest and if you have any, it'll pop it right out! One of the tests for my fiance was, could he drink my coffee? ;)--> vickles, At work the other day this young gal was telling me how this OLD man was who had flirted with her. She said it was gross because he was sooooooooo old. I made the mistake of asking how old this geezer was. Her answer was, "almost in his 40's!" I can remember thinking that over 40 life was pretty near over. How different it is now that I'm knocking at 50's door. gc

    The near 50 and over Club

    Hi, this is my first post and I'm jumping right in! I'm way too close to 50, but still having a great time. Its the number '50' that bothers me and the fact that I feel so much younger. Its almost like I get surprised when I look in the mirror...still thinking I'm 30 something? gc
