This American Western was ABC's first true hit. It was the highest rated TV show in the early 50's. Yes, adjust you setttings. You read that right.

First it appeared on radio but was dropped.

The cornerstone of this series laid in a vow by the star to avenge the deaths of his other five om brays who were ambushed and killed by a gang of desperadoes.

That's the one.

My favorite "line" from the show wasn't even spoken. The crew was investigating a murder involving some computer tech center. There was a sign on the wall that said:

There are 10 kinds of people.

Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

"I Love Lucy?"

George

Too easy?

Phillip Morris, the sponsor for the early seasons,

ENCOURAGED them to smoke on camera.

They could NEVER say Lucy was "pregnant"- she was "with child."

And the episode where they all discovered it?

"Lucy is Enceinte." Had to translate it to fool the censors.

Looking back, it was actually a surprise, decades later, to realize

there were several episodes where Ricky spanked Lucy on camera.

(I can think of 3 where it came up, but there may have been more-

Lucy Plays Cupid was one, and Ricky Loses His Temper was another.

The third was one where Lucy was hanging over the stage during

Ricky's performance, with Fred handling the guy-wires.

I'm not sure which episode that was, I wasn't taking notes.)

And they slept in separate beds. How did Lucy GET "with child"

in the first place?

Not everything happens in the bedroom... They must have been doing it somewhere, or Lucy would REALLY have some "'splainin' to do"!

I didn't remember the episodes involving spanking, but the smoking gave a time frame, and I do remember Lucy's pregnancy during the show's run.

New one:

The show that made Adrian Zmed a star.

I'm told House was inspired by Sherlock Holmes, but don't understand how

That's the correct answer for this round.

I'll ask Mrs Wolf to explain when she can, since she can answer this better

than I can-she watched the show and likes both House and Holmes.

(House? Homes?)

Mrs Wolf, said, in effect:

House's personality (grouchy and antisocial) on Holmes.

The nice friend who helps him is Dr Wilson.

(Saw that actor in "Dead Poets Society.")

House's apartment# is "221."

When he tries to concentrate, he uses a musical instrument to focus.

(Holmes used the violin, House used the piano.)

He used a drug to escape when not working on problems

(House used Vicodin, Holmes had his 7% solution.)

That's off the top of her head.

I will add that Arthur Conan Doyle was inspired to write about

Holmes after seeing a doctor in action-

a doctor who could tell all sorts of details about patients brought

before him just from a few seconds of observation.
