Actually, no.    See above.

Yeah! I saw that.  I just remember that Jimmy Kimmel was the sort of co-host with Ben Stein on his show and went on to do "The Man Show".  I didn't know Kimmel did the show "WWTBaM".  And if I did, I wouldn't watch it.

Yesterday, the Reds gave up eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to the Atlanta Braves but scored eight in the bottom of the inning.  The Braves went on to win 12-11 in ten innings.

What is the greatest number of runs scored by a losing MLB team (since 1900)?

This was less than two months after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, where 17 people were killed. Anthony Rizzo, then of the Cubs, was a Stoneman Douglas alum. He said it was probably no coincidence the winning team scored 17 runs.

Chills.

My memory failed me. 17 wasn't the score. 17 was the number of innings it took to finish the game.

And of course it was a coincidence. But it was an emotionally resonant one.

Not a lot of numbers greater than 20 and less than 27, but since no one seems interested in playing the elimination game:

The Phillies lost to the Cubs 26-23 on 8/25/1922.

Interestingly, the SECOND-highest losing score was by the Cubs to the Phillies, 23-22 on 5/17/79.  I remember watching that game on TV. (I used to live in Chicago.)

No other team has scored more than 17 runs in a loss.
