Name that Tune

Well I'll be damned

Here comes your ghost again

But that's not unusual

It's just that the moon is full

And you happened to call

And here I sit

Hand on the telephone

Hearing a voice I'd known

A couple of light years ago

Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes

Were bluer than robin's eggs

My poetry was lousy you said

Where are you calling from?

A booth in the mid-west

Where are you calling from?

A booth in the mid-west

Ten years ago

I brought you some cuff links

You bought me something

We both know what memories can bring

They bring [Song Title]

Well you burst on the scene

Already a legend

The unwashed phenomenon

The original vagabond

You strayed into my arms

And there your stayed

Temporarily lost at sea

The Madonna was yours for free

Yes, the girl on the half-shell

Would keep you unharmed

Now your telling me

Your not nostalgic

Then give me another word for it

You who were so good with words

And at keeping them vague

Because I need some of that vagueness now

It's all come back to clearly

Yes I loved you dearly

And if your offering me [song Title]

I've already paid.

This song is from the mid-70's and is written about the memories the song writer has from a past relationship that comes about after a phone call from the ex-lover.

The original vagabond

And you strayed into my arms

And there you stayed

Temporarily lost at sea

The Madonna was yours for free

Yes the girl on the half-shelf

Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing

With brown leaves falling around

And snow in your hair

Now your smiling out the window

Of the crummy hotel

Over Washington Square

Our breathe comes out white clouds

Mingles and hangs in the air

Speaking strictly for me

We both could have died then and there

Now your telling me

You not nostalgic

Then give me another word for it

You who are so good with words

And at keeping things vague

Because I need some of that vagueness now

It's all come back to dearly

Yes I loved you dearly

And if your offering me [ song title ]

I've already paid

This is the whole song. I thought it was convoluted (not the song, me and my posting skills) so I cleaned it up too.

More clues to follow because it seems that everyone is clueless to it, (so far)

No new clues then. It's a song that ~Joan Baez~ did in the mid 70's, I guess I'm the only one remembering it. It's about her relationship with Bob Dylan. ( "you burst on the scene already a legend") ~Joan Baez~ Diamonds and Rust.

Another one then,

And if I say to you tomorrow, Take my hand, child, come with me

It's to a castle I will take you, where what's to be, they say will be

Catch the wind, see us spin, sail away, way up high in the sky (chorus)

But the wind won't blow, you really shouldn't go only goes to show

that you will be mine, by taking our time

Oh the wind won't blow, you really shouldn't go, only goes to show (chorus)

Catch the wind, were gonna see it spin, we gonna...sail...leave today

do do do, bop bop a do oh, my my my my my my, yeah

Everybody I know seems to know my well

but they're never gonna know cause a fool I'd tell

bob a do, bop bop a do oh,

Wow, they play that song on the radio all the time and I never knew that was the name of it, lol.

Okay, but you guys will get this in no time. This is a really kick a$$ song though, lol. I'm taking the most obscure verse I could find.

Brothers and sisters, I have many

Stumbling along to do their thing

Love is a song, it's better than any

It's better for music, it's easy to sing

Nothing comes to mind yet RG.

GOOD! I took the most obscure lyric I could find in the song, lol.

People say that He won't come

And I don't know what say you

But if He should, would you be the one?

I've got a little question I'd like to ask you

(I can't print the next line because it is the name of the song!)

It's not ringing a bell with me RottieGrrrl.

Virtually anyone of us can click with a song and it soon becomes one of our favorites. A novelty if you like.

But with media today, radio, internet, shopping centers, bars, you do hear a lot of stuff, however it may not click with our brains as far as the song goes.

I've probably heard it before but at this point I just can't place it.

This is NOT a Novelty song! I'm not a huge rock fan, and if I know this song, it was being played on the radio a lot back then, and it is still is played occasionally. This was a hit back in 1970 on secular radio and considered one of the Jesus songs. In 1971, the band changed their name following pressure from the utility company of the same name. So one last clue . :)

There's rumors of war

Men dying and women crying

If you breathe air, you'll die

Perhaps you wonder the reason why

But wait! Don't you worry

A new day is dawning

We'll catch the sun, and away we'll fly...

Thanks RottieGrrrl. It sounds like I should know this. The lyrics are kinda familiar to me. I can't hear the tune in my head.

Is this the electric or water or gas company we are talking about? I know it's not the Five man Electrical Band.

YES! It's Pacific Gas and Electric, "Are you Ready?" Damn, why don't they do songs like this in the Christian song world anymore?

Thanks for working it through, Human without Bean. LOL.
