Former IHOPPer! This is great! When were you there!? I hope everybody here knows about Willow Creek Church; Gateway Church; Bishop Eddie Long; Ravi Zacharias; Todd Bentley; Daystar; TBN, Celebration Church, etc, etc. If not, newsflash, The Way was not alone. I loved the worship at IHOPKC (horrific murder/suicide/cult incident there). Like The Way, I never got involved in their programs (Intro to IHOP; IHOP University; Fire in the Night, etc). Eventually, they kicked me out. For one thing, as you might guess, I wasn't a fan of their 'Israel Mandate'. You're asking the same things I'm asking. How are they processing ALL that happened? I mean, all of it. What's most important for me now, where are they at and where are they going? These are the conversations I'm looking for but I'm not going to grill anyone like they have to meet my approval. So far everyone has been open and kind. I did listen to one of Craig Martindale's recent teachings on You Tube. Now, there's a resurrection, huh? He still holds Dr Wierwille in highest regards. Don't know about the Way just yet. Wow, did I grow old, or what? LOL

I didn't go WOW myself. I was fresh out of college and despite the prevailing culture, I wanted to keep control of my life and for the first time become unpoor. To this day I can't say if I lacked trust or if I exercised prudence. I can say this, I didn't have the bitter fall that others did. After the Army about 5 years later when I was going to 'give in' and go WOW, the coordinator or whoever discerned I didn't have the right attitude and said 'no'. I just filed for social security and I never did get unpoor. I did spend 3 years in China as kind of a missionary English teacher.

I got very caught up with the Bickle sexual abuse scandal and the IHOPKC coverup and how similar it was to weirwille's and twi's. What did you know about the latter and what is twi saying about it now? There's no way I respect twi today for their lies and coverup for this man. Do they still call him "the man of God for our day and time" or just their "father in the word?"
-
I wonder if they still throw darts at a map to make assignments. They're gonna need a pretty big map, I suppose.

Just got off the phone with an area coordinator who was a WOW ambassador to my area 38 years ago. Even then he was somebody who apparently had a good upbringing. Naturally friendly, positive and stable. He's been with The Way this whole time!? He looks to five years ago as a turning point. Said they got legalistic under Martendale (I'm just the reporter, here) and even moreso for 20 years under his successor. All the time they were (pick one: believing for; praying for; looking for- gotta use the right code ;-) )...they wanted a turn around all that time. So yeah, I want to talk more. New Wayfers; still Wayfers; once again Wayfers. I'm particularly interested in honest assessments of what was all that!? What just happened!? And then of course, is it a viable alternative to Zionist churches? I don't need the approval of dogmatic Trinitarians and worshippers of the Rothschild, Ashkenazi, fake, totalitarian, genocidal idol. 900 WOWs going out, evidently the most since VPW was alive. If I go to the Rock I'll let you know.

Correct. I didn't know it was cover song. You're right waysider, that original is awesome.

Hey, I was just posting something to put something up. I know George is into presidential trivia so there are two of those. I know you're into music WordWolf so I figured just about any classic rock fan would know about the CS&N song. ~The Killers~ are an alternative rock band but I think you're into alternative rock as I am. I thought the "Monk" theme song would be a slam dunk since you guys are really into vintage TV shows. Unless someone wants to try to answer some of these, then let's put this back into a free post.

That's Go Now, the first big hit for The Moody Blues. An awesome cover, no doubt. But, have you ever heard the original.? Holy mackerel! HERE

Do they still "teach" four crucified?
-
Hmmmm. You might be on to something.
-
Thank you, Rocky I'm just going to check it out. Done a lot of churching these past 35 years and I don't have anything. People starving to death and these clowns want to 'pray for Israel'. I'm so disgusted.
-
Glad you had a good experience Joyful. For many of us here, it would take a lot more than people being friendly and joyful to overcome the darkness the organization embraced for many years. If you go to ROA 2025, let us know what you think.

One thing I can say about the Way, it looks like they never discovered good worship. Looks like they still do the performances. The rest of Evangelical Christendom has long known about something much more experiential with the Holy Spirit. Recent Bob Stanley: Hillsong:

Ah, but what's their religion? The people I met, I don't think they want any part of the old religion, either. Not trying to ruffle feathers. I was just wondering if anyone was open to redemption and restoration. It may not be there, I have no idea. I have no interest in Zionist churches. Really, I don't have much interest in gatherings that focus on professional Christians giving weekly speeches. If anyone still has interest in the book of Acts, Tom Wadsworth on You Tube has a lot to say that I find interesting.
-
Good for you. Thanks to this ole sight and lots of great people,I feel it would be a step backard into their religion.
-
No, thanks.

Alright. Here's something. It might be to early for you WordWolf but it went # 1 in the UK. "We've already said Goodbye" I don't want you to tell me just what you intend to do now 'Cause how many times do I have to tell you, darling, darling I'm still in love with you, now? Whoa"

Thank you for the response, Waysider. I don't have a hidden agenda, I just want to kick it around with somebody. Oh man, where to start? I mean, I've been on message boards and somebody will post some hilarious stage show of Christian entertainment. Goofy...looks like it's Mormon or something. Nnnnnaaahhh, I know exactly who those people are... That one woman's name is Trudy ... If I wasn't cultured I'd say it looks gay AF, but I'm cultured so I won't say it. No doubt, I can recount my own drama with the Way back then. Just, how many can acknowledge experiencing something good as well? I mean, aspects of it were the real deal. I was high as a kite those two weeks I mentioned. Probably got some deliverance without anyone praying specifically about that. I mean, what about these churches!? Anyone get caught up in the IHOPKC drama? I've got stories about that, too. Morningstar Fellowship in the Carolinas... I went to some John Lynn Conferences as well. Zionism? Gaza? I know that's the body of Christ but I find most Evangelicals repugnant. So, here I am, lone wolf Christian, member of the body of Christ. Everybody I met last week was cool. You know, I gingerly want to see what they're about.
-
Don't mind me, I'm a cynical old fart. Part of this reminds me of my own early experiences, all those years ago. Everyone seemed so happy, joyful, "We sure do love you" and all that jazz. Different from mainstream churches. Love bombing at its best. Somehow, I don't see it ending well. Your mileage may vary.

First, my apologies, I haven't investigated recent conversations on the board. I just want to talk about the Way today. Also, I never got in too deep and I'm not resentful or bitter. My ROA experiences in '87 and '88 were actually highlights in my Christian walk. Sometimes I swing by New Knoxville on my way from Michigan to the Carolinas. Last week I walked into the OSB to see if it was cool if I walked the grounds. Met some really nice, happy people. It felt like the Way of old (in my limited experience). Jerry Martinez in security gave me a guided tour. Grounds were amazing. The smells, the blossoms. I found them willing to talk about mistakes in the past. I'm thinking about going to the ROA this year. Anyone else have a sense of revitalization and resurgence? A special shout out to John S and his wife in Family Corps. Also Andrew. They exude joy and the love of God. So different from "churches".

When CD format first became popular, Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever was the very first CD I bought. He made so much great music through the years, it's somewhat of a mystery to me he never achieved the recognition he deserved. At any rate, have another go at it, Human sans Bean.

Ok, next show. This show has had a successful run, and it has a short-lived attempt at a revival some time later. At its height, it seemed like everybody in the US was talking about it, even those who weren't watching it. A summer cliffhanger where one character attempted to murder another got the entire US (I don't know how other countries responded). In fact, the US Daily News did a feature on it one week that summer, with different people giving their ideas on who was the attempted murderer. Everybody had their own guesses. The day with the correct answer? The day they interviewed detectives of the NYPD and asked their opinion.

"The preceding was recorded earlier because we were ashamed to do it now." "This show has been prerecorded to give the cast a chance to get away." "Do you know there's a small hotel in downtown Burbank?" "No, but if you hum a few bars, I can fake it."
