  1. Past hour
  2. "Are you here all by yourself?" "Ma'am, I'm eight years old. You think I would be here alone? I don't think so." "Where's your mom?" "My mom's in the car." "Where's your father?" "He's at work." "What about your brothers and your sisters?" "I'm an only child." "Where do you live?" "Uh, I can't tell you that." "Why not?" "Because you're a stranger." "Why the hell did you take your shoes off?" "Why the hell are you dressed like a chicken?" "Did I turn off the coffee?" "No... I did." "Did you lock up?" "Yeah." "Did we set the timers on the lights?" "Yeah." "Did you close the garage?" "That's it. I forgot to close the garage, that's it." "No, that's not it." "Well, what else could we be forgetting?" George
  3. "As the snow flies -- on a cold and gray Chicago morn A poor little baby child is born..." George
  4. Yesterday
  5. I have no doubt this is a deeply traumatic event in your life. Suppression is a natural response to trauma. Telling the story can be liberating and healing, for you and the reader. Let it out. Your anger is justified. Be angry, but if you won’t, I’ll be angry for the both of us. F**k these people and the charlatan they fellate.
  6. Yep. First blame the individual for not believing enough, then blame the adversary, who likely had a whole lot of other more important things to do. LOL
  7. You know, it might not seem like abuse. But being forced to shower with grown men at The Rock is f'ing crazy. I was a little boy. WTF
  8. I've been thinking about this post since I made it. I kind of put this experience away when it happened. That's gotta be some sort of trauma response because there was nothing I could do and none of the adults on cam[us said anything about it. The only thing I heard was "Poor her. Her believing wasn't there". So instead of being mad, we were embarrassed. I can tell you, if that happened to my wife or children today, I wouldn't brush it off. Sometimes sharing a story is liberating. In this case it gave me the anger I should have had in the first place. I spent all weekend ....ed off. 30 plus years later.
  9. I remember reading an editorial cartoon once. A reporter was interviewing some football players at a stadium. "Which would you rather play on- grass or Astroturf?" "I don't know. I ain't never smoked no Astroturf."
  10. "Tony Danza." It's that Elton John song. "Hold me closer, Tony Danza!"
  11. Got it. Don't recognize the quote/lyric, though. George
  12. "Get up in the morning, slaving for bread, sir So that every mouth can be fed"
  13. Last week
  14. Sorry Charlie for the imposition I think I've got it, I got the strength to carry on, yeah I need a drink and a quick decision Now it's up to me, ooh what will be? Get up in the morning, look in the mirror One less toothbrush hanging in the stand My face ain't looking any younger Now I can see love's taken a toll on me

  16. These are movie quotes, right? You didn't really identify the movie from my quote, and I suspect the other is a Songs Remembered... line. George Well, yes, of course, my post wasn't for this thread. But, I think we can keep going forward with this, your quote is from "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and my quote is from a famous (very famous) almost as famous as many famous motion pictures go (pun intended), in fact it came out just a year earlier than "The Grinch" did. "Blue jean baby, L A lady, seamstress for the band". Just the same as you're line, George, that line was sang in the movie as well.
  17. That's it. Fun fact: When it first opened, the Astrodome had natural turf. It wasn't long, however, before they realized that grass doesn't grow well indoors. The artificial substitute became known as Astroturf. George
  18. I went to a seance, recently, to conjure up the spirit of Wierwille. The lights began to dim, an eerie chill filled the air, furniture began to shake violently. Just then, he appeared and began to speak, "I've been trying to reach you about your vehicle's extended warranty.".
  19. We haven't done Pictionary in a while. Let me see if this works: Well, it doesn't work. File size apparently too big. Let's try it a different way: Rock Hudson James Doohan Telly Savalas Roddy McDowall Keenan Wynn Barbara Leigh Angie Dickinson John David Carson Joanna Cameron Gretchen Carpenter Aimee Eccles Margaret Markov June Fairchild Joy Bang Brenda Sykes Diane Sherry George
  20. "Are you here all by yourself?" "Ma'am, I'm eight years old. You think I would be here alone? I don't think so." "Where's your mom?" "My mom's in the car." "Where's your father?" "He's at work." "What about your brothers and your sisters?" "I'm an only child." "Where do you live?" "Uh, I can't tell you that." "Why not?" "Because you're a stranger." "Why the hell did you take your shoes off?" "Why the hell are you dressed like a chicken?" George
  21. The venue was home to an NL team, an NFL team, and a rodeo. It now serves none of those purposes. George
