  4. Thanks to GS's unscheduled "break," WW has had plenty of time to come up with a new one. How about it, WW? George
  5. Russell Crowe was offered a major role in this film but could not do it due to scheduling conflicts with "A Beautiful Mind." He suggested Eric Bana for the role. It was Bana's first role in an American film. Ewan MacGregor's role was based on a person involved in the actual event on which the movie is based. The actual soldier won a Silver Star for his actions but was later convicted of child molestation. MacGregor's character, therefore, had a different name. The scene depicting a soldier cut completely in half by an RPG is partially true. In reality his torso and legs were held together by his spine, and he survived unconscious for about two hours. In his commentary, the screenwriter opted to depict it as it is onscreen as he felt audiences would not be able to suspend their disbelief if it was shown as it happened. George
  6. Last week
  7. It doesn't seem like anybody will get this then, because I thought I gave it away in the last post. Almost Famous FREE POST
  8. It was even bigger than that. The real purpose of promoting PFAL classes was to establish a core of followers who would willingly forfeit a portion of their own personal wealth on a regular basis, paycheck after paycheck and beyond (ABS). WOW Ambassadors were an unpaid sales force, working without commission. This is not hyperbole, it's the reality of what took place.
  9. I think about this all the time. We were paying for the right to work on a farm. They said th corps was patterned after The Marine Corps. Do people pay to join The Marines? Nooo, They get paid because they are in a training program to be the elite of the elite. We paid for that. It's crazy.

  11. Victor permitted the rapes by choosing not to mitigate the risk. Reminds me of a certain idiom.
  12. Earlier
  13. His dismissal had the air of "Well, since you're gonna be raped ANYWAY...." In any SANE group, the planning meeting would have included "How to we reduce the risk of rape to zero or as close to it as life allows?" Obviously, in an absolute sense, the probability is not zero around the planet. That's not the same as saying that SENSIBLE precautions should be taken. Hey- vpw's booze, car, and house could all be robbed. Did he just dismiss those risks? No, he locked up THE STUFF HE CARED ABOUT, and had LIVE GUARDS PATROLLING. He knew how to minimize risks or at least lower them- he made the conscious decision NOT TO.
  14. Let this be repeated every time it comes up. WordWolf: (I've heard him on tape, addressing the Way Corps privately, dismissing concerns that women were ALREADY raped hitchhiking to LEAD and that it could happen AGAIN. He said they could be raped anywhere anytime, so he refused to consider changing anything.)
  15. Including financial. The thought crossed my mind that TWI should have paid for EVERYTHING: the tuition, meals, travel, rooms, clothing, etc. After all, they are making an investment for THEM-- THEIR continued benefit. Provided you fully understand you're a slave (doulos) to "The Ministry the Represents God" (LCM's words.) As a bonded slave. And so under that condition, you also must beg for sponsors? LOL. I can understand that for the college division but not the Corps. FUN TV FACT: Starfleet invested $122,200 for Mr. Spock's education. Today that's worth $1,186,900!
  16. It may or may not be prudish... for adults.
  17. Thanks for taking the time to offer this insight. I have been dealing with trauma one incident at a time for decades. Every time I think I have nothing left to think about... As far as TWI being nicer, I have heard this. My first thought is always the foundation upon which it is laid. The foolish man built his house upon the sand.
  18. *slaps forehead* I just freaking saw this movie the other week. "HOME ALONE."
