  1. Here's a recipe I've used to make Latkes (my family LOVES em!).....some recipes add green onions, caviar as a topping, lots of variations...... This recipe is pretty simple... Ingredients 4 large potatoes 1 medium onion 1 egg, beaten 2 tablespoons Matzo meal, corn meal, or flour salt to taste 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for less oily latkes), or enough oil to fill the pan to about 1/4 inch (1/2 cm). applesauce and/or sour cream Procedure Peel potatoes and onion and grate. Optionally soak the resulting mixture in water, or squeeze it in a dishtowel, in order to remove excess starch. Mix potato and onion with egg, meal, and salt. Heat oil in a 10" pan over medium heat until it is quite hot. Drop 1-2 tablespoons of the potato mixture onto the pan per pancake. Turn once to allow both sides to fry. Allow 10-15 minutes total. Serve with applesauce and/or sour cream as a topping. Serves four.
  2. Good idea, krys.....thank you everyone for your kind words....I'll respond more fully in the prayer forum.
  3. One of my favs, too....Shawshank Redemption The book (or rather written short story) is quite a bit different, but LOVE Morgan Freeman Here's one, might be a bit tough..... "My kids.....I forgot to beat my kids!" "I just wanna say that you are the craziest person I've met since the guy blocking the bank door. He was wearing a Superman cape and pantyhose... crazier than you... maybe not."
  4. Bad news, I'm afraid..... Just after she reached her second timester (In fact it was Christmas Eve) my daughter suffered a miscarriage. Thank you for your love and support...it means a lot.
  5. GsG.....nope....try again! We live in different universes, you and I. Yours is about diplomacy, politics, strategy. Mine is about blankets. If we were to exchange places for a night, you would better understand. Mister Data -- see to it that our replicators provide blankets for every man, woman and child here before nightfall. Yessir. Mister Worf, you will determine if these people have any other emergency needs and provide whatever we can... Aye, sir. Return to your ship. I will contact you when I have any information that might be of assistance.
  6. Sorry....got sidetracked....here ya go! We are not a violent race, Captain. Just passionate about our cause. And that passion has led some to take up arms. Do you know where we can find Orta? I'm afraid not. Might you be able to help us ocate him? I'm sorry. I don't wish to help you.
  7. Don't remember the name of the episode, but it's TNG where Data was beaten at Strategema, and Riker, LaForge, and Wesley were battling the enterprise with an old ship in an exercise of war.

    Dream Job!!!!!

I was JUST offered and have accepted a new job at a therapeutic day school as a teacher and case manager, which will later utilize the masters in Mental Health Counseling that I will have soon to clinically work with teens who have emotional issues and are of average to gifted intelligence. I have long wanted to work with troubled teens in a meaningful way that uses my passion for teaching, combined with my training in mental health counseling...so this is MY DREAM JOB!!!!!!!! What a great and timely Christmas present from God this is!!!!! We pull out the champagne tonight!!!!!! I'm still floating on air.... I HAVE MY DREAM JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and the money doesn't suck, either)
  9. Doesn't sound orginal series or TNG to me, sounds more along the lines of enterprise, ds9, or voyager. But I haven't gotta clue!

    Song of the moment

This is what EVERYONE in our house is playing over and over, it's by Toby Keith Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue I don't care who you are or what your political views are, when you hear this song you'll get a bit choked up about all those young men and women who do and have fought for our country. I remember after 9/11 a lot more pride for our country was shown via the flag flying, tshirts with the flag rather than an advertisement for a commercial product. National pride and love of country are a beautiful thing (usually).

    Gift Ideas

You could get him reservations at the Ice Hotel in Canada VERY cool and rather beautiful
  12. Very true, Krys....but at least we sleep with REALLY GOOD GRANDPAS!!!!!!
  13. Sounds either DS9 or Enterprise ish....I'd lean towards DS9 but didn't see a lot of their episodes, so I bow to a more worthy player.
  14. Yep, Zix was right more than he knows...... I took Jess in to get birth control pills, but like her Mom.....they gave her blinding migraines. So we went to another sure form that the dr. recommended, yet blessed with her mother's fertility....(I got pregnant 3 times while FAITHFULLY using 3 different types of birth control.) ....so....well....you can do the math (so to speak). We are SO looking forward to June!!!!!
  15. We !'s are very sorry for your loss, Seth Any loss is so very difficult to deal with, but sudden loss is even more jolting. We hope you can find comfort with your family in this very difficult time.
  16. Tisn't Enterprise.....didn't watch that show much....this is a NG episode Here's another clue.....this one should REALLY give it away... My empathic powers can only sense a man of deep passion, and conviction... so disciplined, so controlled... I am simply curious to know what lies beneath... Nothing. Nothing lies beneath. I'm really quite dull. I fall asleep each night with an old book in my hands... When a metamorph finds you interesting... do not take it lightly. I don't take it lightly... I'm only... trying to be as dull as possible.
  17. Thanks GstG, I dunno why that happens, but a couple other people I've im'd haven't been able to answer....maybe it's cuz I'm listed as cindy rather than Cindy! As you say, right church, wrong pew Here's another clue (this will probably give it away): Ah, I see you got our message... If this is some sort of bribe, I am not amused... Oh no, Ambassador... your attitude is quite understandable... This is just a sample... The bribe is ten thousand more... Ludugial gold, the purest in the galaxy... We know the lifestyle of a Kriosian Ambassador is barely comfortable... You deserve to live a life of luxury... I am insulted. How dare you suggest... You drive a hard bargain. Twenty thousand, but not an ingot more.
  18. Thanks WW... ok, first clue.... Perhaps your captain would care to invite us to join him for dinner this evening... The captain dines alone.
  19. NG: Season 4: Suddenly Human not my favorite episode, but the was a cute kid
  20. Great news.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna be a granny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little ! is due June 22, 2008 The mom-to-be is doing very well and eating everything in sight! (She plowed through the german chocolate birthday cake Steve! bought me) Had her first dr appt this week...all is welll! Just call me Nana!!! Yes, it's early in life for her, but she is an amazing young woman and he is a fine young man and they are handling it quite well. I'm SO glad we don't live in an age where moms to be are forced into homes, or even worse, into abortions....those were such barbaric practices and times. Jessica is finishing high school, making plans for her future (she wants to be a music teacher) and her fiance is a wonderful young man. Our family has welcomed them and the coming future addition into our hearts and lives with open arms and hearts. We hope you will, as well....but regardless of the response to this post....we are very happy and hopeful for our wonderful Jessica and Jay!!!
  21. Thanks for the bday wishes, had a fantastic day!!!!!!!! Oh, and by this time next year, I'll be a grandma!!!!!
  22. Good question! I could answer this topic on a number of levels, since depression is not a cut and dried/black and white condition and I have suffered from it, have family who have been dramtically affected by it, have seen it in my students, and am studying to work with it in my masters degree in mental health counseling. Here is what I basically believe: When we get sick with a physical ailment (i.e. cancer, flu, broken bone, toothache), we seek out help.....a doctor, a dentist....some kind of medical personnel. Mental concerns are no different. It is usually due to a chemical imbalance....not devil spirits....it is brought on by any number of factors; stress, disease, trauma, genetics,...whatever. I do believe that on occasion it can be spiritually influenced, but the perception/attitude towards the situation should be based on clinical data rather than an approach that is not based in psychometric data. In other words....when we break a bone, we don't blame the devil for the pain and existence of that break (at least we don't if we are sane), we realize that a bone is broken so we pursue the means to heal the break. You hurt a bone, you get a doctor. You hurt inside (emotionally), you get a doctor. In both instances you pursue healing, not blame for the hurt. (not sure I said this clearly, may edit later)
