You can be very inventive with answers. i.e. he is bald. But when one reaches this age, there is usually a profusion of ear and nostril hair. it still requires cosmetic removal..

So. The male citizens of Seville. Generally they are not unkempt (i.e., well shaved). The Barber shaves all those who do not shave themselves. Who shaves the barber? If the Barber is female, there is no problem.. but the Barber is male..

I dunno. I can look at such a question, have another glass of Cabernet, and not (or greatly) care.. it's like trying to trisect an arbitrary angle with a compass and straightedge, only.. don't even get me started.. there is a three-dimensional object, that you could fill with paint, but never find enough paint to cover it.. what is the point here.. I don't even know if there is a point. I can enjoy this kind of uncertainty.. just can't force it on others.. where is Rumrunner when you need him.. he breathed math..

wasn't that what it was that ruined Russel? something like.. what about a set that didn't include itself.. I'll need this for the next (last(?)) paper.. Naive set theory, it is described. Bites off more than it can chew.. It's the Barber of Seville question. The Barber shaves every man who does not shave himself. The Barber is a man. Who shaves him?

As much as I disagree with it.. I don't think it is pin-headed. It's a search for stability, or equilibrium.. what would you do.. if in one moment you found everything you (thought) you believed was just, plain, brutally WRONG.. that has happened to more than the religious crowd.. I dunno. So you write your book, and in one little innocent question, your book is ruined, a few days before (or after) publication.. its happened.. I'm just an amateur here.. I don't have that much to lose..

I dunno. Gullible? Maybe we were of the deception that agreements actually meant something.. actually I still think they do. Just because they don't choose to honor it.. it's their loss, not mine..
-
I was promised a family.. from those who were not my offspring or progenitors.. too much to promise. Especially if you can't deliver..
-
I don't think it was gullibility.. maybe we just expected too much.. or were promised..

Does the sentence fit the crime? I won't argue otherwise.. The system is entirely unfair. These examples of horror.. they get what. Three square meals a day. Of course, the cuisine isn't exactly what it used to be.. budget cuts and all. Free (?) roof over one's head, as long as the lawyering and appeals hold out.. do they get cable tv and internet still? what does it cost to house, clothe and feed them? It just seem taxpayers money could go to far better uses.. speaking of rehabilitation.. what kind of job is waiting for them outside of the gates? I mean.. consider they have years and years of somewhat of a life.. between appeals and all.. how is that supposed to be a deterrent to crime? "Justice" is far too slow. But how fast do we want it.. we like a free society.. and the security that a dictatorship could provide, snuffing out alleged criminals with no right of appeal.. sorry. Just thinking here..

Weird stuff. Take it as you will.. I remember some kind of agreement for this existence.. a couple of times (or more) I've taken this agreement, and told those whom I agreed with to go to hell.. you dumb "foot" bastards.. you have no clue of what kind of experience this existence involved.. so I was the numbnuts to take the dare.. friends? I don't think so.. I wish we were.. anybody else here talk to the "gods" like this? to quote a damned republican dumbass. If they can't help, tell them to stay out of the way.. Of course they won't, or can't help, for one reason or another.. It's only the second of July. Everybody is here, aren't they? I mean, really.. Well.. happy July the fourth.. :)

there is all kinds of nastiness to deal with.. I dunno. Maybe it's about humiliation. You can't humiliate one who who is dead, any longer, anyway.. death is an easy way out, for all parties involved..

the "coolest" thing that can happen to anybody. Take one, or a pair of the super magnets one has "harvested" from a hard drive. You take this magnet.. rub it along the surface of diamagnetic material, i.e. a block of copper.. no, there is no attraction like iron.. but it feels like you are moving the magnet through a pool of very thick molasses. As long as the magnet is moving, that is. it's a real hit at parties.. Once you experience it, you have to explain it..

With a Bachellors in mostly applied mathematics, sylvan learning was *almost* interested in me, to tutor students.. interesting. With *almost* a Master's.. the local community college would turn me loose on how many students.. I am four credits away. what I would really like to do at this community college.. not just teach math, but as faculty, support some kind of amateur radio club.. it takes faculty backing to do something like this, and this local college DEFINITELY is interested in technology. Even old technology, that is relevant..

In a sense I am too. that is a self-taught engineer. I'm supposed to be an electronics "expert". That was from the mouth of a retired electronics specialist (don't know if that is the accurate name of his title) who served on a nuclear submarine.. I could still draw the schematic of a hartley, or colpitts oscillator.. or easily recognize it. one is because of a tapped coil for feedback, the other is for a tap between series capacitors for the same feedback.. does anybody even know what crystals are nowadays? Then there are years of work in consumer electronics. Computers.. hardware, software.. If I didn't go back to school. I would today be unemployable..
-
Yeah.. it was a Doctor Who episode.. Louise Jameson was the savage.. yeah. If you can hit the mark about 10 kazillion times, that would fix everything.. very, very interesting.. I love fiction. :)
-
There are about what.. a few hundred thousand or more who will step up to fill the vacuum.. reminds me of an old science fiction series.. it takes prodigious aim to throw a knife into the breath hole in the back of the neck.. glorious? Now if one could just hit the same mark about ten million times more..

he was a living soul.. as bad as he was, with my feeble analysis of the situation I can't rejoice. On one hand I can't excuse the horrific end of his plot.. on the other I can't rejoice in his death..
-
Retire? In 3 and 1/2 years? You are lucky, friend..
-
how come da way couldn't follow suit here.. what was it they called, and (curiously) abhorred.. situational ethics?
-
for once I was right.. any other then present option, and I'd be jobless.. and unemployable. even if I don't complete the requirements for the degree this summer.. I will be only one credit away. I am gambling, heavily. That this country wants to rebuild.. we have how many veterans coming back from war.. they will need math proficiency..
-
so, what "power" does their certificate imbue one with? I have one degree and almost another that implies that I have a significant understanding of mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and computer science.. what does theirs imply? believe me, I'm thankful for what I have. I have.. the promise of a *real* job this fall.. Well. I just have to somehow be able to live through the summer. anybody here want, or need to adopt a 54 year college student?

so the "successor" is a surgeon, i.e. a "healer". I hope he doesn't forget the oath he took.. i.e., "do no harm"..
-
my friend here would say.. it is (was) a problem that seventy five cents wouldn't solve.. I'm sorry. Despite American ingenuity and resolve, I could not rejoice in the death of a soul. I'm glad it went off as quiet as it did..

Now that I've had a couple of days to think about this.. Who is the "worst" element of the prison? Not the inmates, in my opinion. I'm not minimizing their offences or anything, oh no. We have a governor (with a small g) here, that (un-gender slap in face implied) seems to think the budget is well more served with funding for prisons than education.. so he is insuring a steady flow of uneducated and unskilled "clients" for his "big business".. I'm not indicting any particular party here, lest this discussion be moved to soap opera. what are they going to do with the thousands of veterans returning from the war in Afghanistan? The "worst element" are the keepers. And no, I don't mean hired security guards.. I can't say capital punishment is inappropriate. But why is it used as a tool to raise the cheers (or jeers) of the populace.. "whoo hoo. we *Got* him.." So the western world has spent what. How many hundreds of millions of dollars to dispense justice in the case of one man? Victory? Another "victim" stepped up to the same plate.. who is his brutish successor? Can't remember the name..
