  2. WG have you tried any kelp products? They contain a bunch of stuff thats good in small amounts. I've used Peaceful Valley's Brix Mix for years and found it perks them lil plants right up.
  3. Thanks Shaz :)--> I got an email from the Rural Development Council foks and sent them back a summary of what's been done regarding the curriculum, fortunately I responded to the group instead of the contact person from the RDC. Skip got ahold of the email and said he had just met with a past undersecretary of ag who is a pointman for the ####### Foundation, the same foundation I had spoken with earlier regarding funding. This gentleman is in Atlanta this week and Skip is doing backflips to get him to the conference so we can make the pitch :D--> Jerry also recieved the email. He works with a college in NC that has a program similar to what we want. He will be attending the conference and wants to talk with us about their program. I'm guessing we'll form a committee to draft the program and dig up supporting documentation. Be fun me thinks ;)-->
  4. I just got off the phone with the Prez of GO. We will be holding an executive committee meeting to consider developing a technical school certificate program in sustainable agriculture. The man most likely responsible for developing the program at the local college has agreed in principle to the plan and suggested a location for the farm. He and I go back along ways, he took over the mayors office here when I was unable to because I told people the truth.
  5. Is that what it is? LOL I need to keep up more Paw the reason I use overseas legal help is cuz it's cheap
  6. My kids rebelled, boy oh boy did they... and one of them was able to divide what should of been an indivisible unit now lemme tell you, that compounds the parenting problems considerably but be that as it may :)--> they are on the right track now, thanks mostly to my aversion to kidocide it's heartbreaking to see them go to extremes but for the most part that rebellion doesn't usually go so far, I think what tided me through it was that the odds were in their favor to survive being teens. Steve! n Cindy! Happy Anniversary !! the box is on it's way (told you it'd end up being an anniversary present ;)--> )
  7. I think Darwins theory of the survival of the fittest fits in somewhere... It is sad our judicial system will take so long to execute Couey but then, if an inmate can get his hands on him, perhaps not so long
  8. Not me Sorry John but my life is kinda full right now so if you don't mind I'll not take part in wondering or being overly concerned about what you are doing now. I know this comes as a great dissapointment to you but rest assured your life will go on just fine without me. Yer Pal Herbie ;)-->

  12. The media seems to be stepping the number of stories on our broken borders, the possible scenarios they now protray seem more in line with reality than before. I'm assuming they are doing this at the request of the military.
  13. Sectarian differences not withstanding I think this is something everyone should at least be considering, there are a lot of variables quite outside W's sphere of influence.
  14. A good book to read is Four Season Harvest by Eliot Coleman. Eliot was the keynote speaker at GO's recent conference. His book has a wealth of information about season extension. Most folks who live outside a city center usually have enough yard space to yield a goodly amount of vegi's with a bit of foresight and preperation. In some circles, food security means a local stable food supply, it's tied in with the slow food and sustainable ag movements. It emphasises planting heritage seed lines, quality over quantity and a connection between consumer and grower.
