  1. Twi sucked. The time in twi sucked - for the most part. How many of us moved across the country with little or no money with 4 (or more!) people to one junker of a car? And where was the concern for the young people (us)? When we arrived we had not only bills but deposits to pay. For many - if not most - of us, this was our first experience with renting an apartment. What was "good." on occasion was the kindness of strangers. What was "good," on occasion was the bond (albeit sometimes tentative bond) that came from working with people. But why look at the memory of some good person and somehow attribute that to twi? Geez! even criminals have friends.
  2. Understood. I made my first post to more than one poster and then let it become specific. I apologize. No more advice. Enjoy your stay.
  3. Like I said, just don't let "their stories" (as in anyone else's stories) become YOUR stories. I used to keep a journal during a difficult time in my younger life. I had to stop. I found that I could start off the day feeling fine. Then I would write a few pages and get myself angry and/or depressed just by what I had written. It was as if I became my own abuser. I realized that if I wasn't careful, I'd get myself stuck in the same ruts over and over again. I wouldn't advise you to stop talking about twi, but I would suggest that every hour spent doing something YOU want to do is another hour you gain your freedom from the cult.
  4. Brainfixed, Bolsh, and anyone else here who grew up in the twi camps... I understand your outrage at all the wrongs you grew up around. Please...PLEASE... take all the time you need to work out that outrage, but also be aware that there will be a time for that outrage to find a smaller place in your life. I'm not one of those "just get over it" folks who think you just need to move on and shut up. I think it's healthy to talk things out and get input, advice, perspective. However, I have seen how, if you're not careful, the talking and writing and reading are no longer helpful - but actually cause a greater hindrance. It's too easy to read some new story of abuse and all of a sudden your own anger is stoked as if the abuse had happened to you. In some ways it can be as if just reading some of the stories here does more harm than help. Take all the time you need. Then recognize that there is life outside and away from your computer screen and a world that never heard of twi - and go live that life in that world. Then when you return, you may again feel outrage - but it won't have the same hold on you. The saying still holds: The best revenge is a life well-lived.
  5. Yes - but that wasn't "receiving training in the whole Word." (A supposed benefit Corps principle.) That was your study time. *mumbles- maybe there was no believing for training in the whole word- back to the Blue Book - what a scam!* Like I said - "Swiss Cheese 101"
  6. I'm pretty sure that song was written about der Victoid's line... But I'm no expert on all things vicster.
  7. Lets' see... The Gospels were out. The Book of Revelation was out. Any epistle after Titus was suspect (though there were a few verses that got cherry-picked out of James and I, II, and III John and cleaned up so they were good enough for use.) The OT was useful for controlling the masses... but if a NT verse would do it had to be used or emphasized. I'd say the phrase, "training in the whole word" was more like a class in "Swiss Cheese 101."

Brainfixed - I kinda figured you never wanted to be in the cult. Now, for that life well-lived.... make a list and get moving. Like the song goes, "You've got a lot of living to do." *Please don't look up how old that song is :) )
  9. Good for you not acting on that information Jeff. I have the right to tell you who I am - I don't have the right to tell you who another poster is, especially if you and I don't know each other. Afterall, you may say that you're XXX XXXX my WOW brother from XXXXXX, XXXXX 197X, but how do I know you're not really L)nder? *Please note - I have no idea who you are and I'm not accusing you of being any of the TWI scumbags.*

Brainfixed - there's most likely no easy answer as to why folks keep on making the same mistakes over and over. The most important thing for you to understand (IMHO) is what woke you up to leave the evil cult, and how to avoid getting in that situation again. Beyond that, observe and be aware. Remember - the best revenge is a life well-lived. :)

Brainfixed - If I understand your question correctly, you're asking why it is that some "fantasies" can result in good things and others can elicit bad results. Do you mean "fantasy" in terms of, "What if I could...."? Most of the things you listed as "good" started out as questions and challenges. Medical progress, space exploration and air travel didn't necessarily come from a fantasy. They came from the need most of mankind has to find solutions to challenges. Cults and abuse - They can start with the question, "What if I could...?", but I think they have their beginnings in control and manipulation. Porn... that's a term that describes a very broad spectrum that may include but is not limited to fantasy and/or manipulation.
  12. Google ole LoyBoy and hit "images" there will be plenty to disgust and entertain you. I just copied the properties... I don't download these photos. Geez! why gunk up the computer with trash?
  13. Here's a better photo of LoyBoy to compare :
  14. I don't really know why we hold the dead in some sort of esteem. They're dead. According to how you believe, they (or Vic in this case) are either awaiting judgment or they have already reached their final destination - heaven, hell, the farm or the compost pile. (The last two are references to reincarnation and just rotting in the ground - or under the fountain, as the case may be.) We continue to speak ill of Hitler. Do any of us hate him? I certainly don't- never knew the guy. I do however, hate what he did and what he stood for. I did know der Victoid, though not personally. I know what evil he wrought. I don't hate him, but that doesn't negate his scumbag attributes. So... while I'm not propounding that we erect a golden eye and dance around it in a furious frenzy, I have no problems with a sneering post (or two or twenty.)
  15. Let the debauchery begin! (Yes I'm early for my timezone - but it's May 20th somewhere!)
  16. That's true Mstar - but he must have known the female form because he's made it believable that Mary is woman - showing draped fabric believably is incredibly difficult.
  17. As far as Michelangelo not being knowledgeable of the female form... has anyone seen the Pieta?
  18. I found site with a lot of information. I invite you all to read for yourselves: http://www.michelangelo.com/buon/bio-index2.html
  19. Okay... whatever Michelangelo's sexual preferences, has anyone realized that this hangs in A CHURCH?!!!!!!!!!!!! This thread should not be focusing on Michelangelo's bedroom choices. I don't recall reading anywhere that he caught any flack for these sexual sidenotes. (I'll look it up - but if anyone knows more about this, please feel free to jump in.) Hmmmm.. perhaps the religious leaders had no problem with his images... what a concept! Oh and the dual tail on the serpent... I think it's the product of morphing two legs into a forked tail of sorts. Then again - it's ambiguous.
  20. Look closely at Eve as she and Adam are getting cast out of Eden. Her head isn't on straight! I mean that! It looks like someone took a colorform head (Yes I'm THAT old) and stuck it on a body.
  21. Mstar - I think Michelangelo just liked men better - plain and simple. Look at this painting of the holy family: *Note the men on the horizon...* Now look at Eve's face. Actually - I think Michelangelo really had a favorite model. Here's "David" : Now - don't you think all those faces look about the same? I dunno. Maybe Michelangelo decided to put his lover on public display in his art. Or perhaps, Michelangelo was suggesting a threesome in Eden.
  22. Yes. Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. "Manhands"? Uhhhh... did you see the biceps on that chick?
  23. And why is God mooning everyone? Creation of the Moon and Sun:
  24. Okay. I was looking at dmiller's topic in the Virtual Sistine Chapel Tour and looked more closely at the Fall and Temptation panel: Look at Eve here: Think about this folks. She's built like a man and she's in the perfect position for... well - you know. BUT she has turned away and is being tempted by this: The serpent is a woman? Now I'm not about to run a class on this. But I thought it was funny that LCM may have built a whole teaching around this type of thing.
  25. I learned how to answer this one."God didn't tell me - SO HE MUST HAVE TOLD YOU!" I mean - GEEZ! - as a human parent, do you (ahem) "Luv your children so much" that you talk to them under you breath? And think about it folks, (and innies) if Gawd's voice is so hard to recognize, then perhaps the Advanced Class isn't worth a tiny little rat's tushie. If revelation was something that you couldn't figure out by your five senses - then perhaps that explains the hairbrained decisions made by so many. (Heck! It's not logical... OH! I know! It must be a thought from on high!) What idiocy...
