    Hello again

Hey all, I haven't been here in a while. It's almost strange looking at all the old posts and seeing new and old names. I'm glad to see that there's more emphasis on living life instead of re-living twi. (That's a bad re-run scenario for sure.) It's funny how life goes - people are so fragile. I don't think we appreciate our human frailty near enough. If we did, we'd all be a lot kinder and more patient with each other. The next time you are all so sure that you are right and the other person is wrong and you must simply KNOW what they are thinking and why they did something... STOP... ... take the time to talk to the person. Don't just text, or post - Talk. We are human, flesh and blood. What makes us all think that this cyberspace we share has any sense of reality in it? It's so easy to judge someone when the only reality is the one we have built. (Have you ever thought that maybe, perhaps, you don't know the whole story?) BTW - this isn't about twi. It's not about anything more than me having to heal. As humans we sometimes fail to see that we are all living and struggling in this life together. We sometimes fail to see that hurt and pain and sadness can make us feel isolated. Have you ever considered that it is our struggles that truly unite us? Thanks for the ramble....
  6. Some people put the cart before the horse. Apparently JL doesn't mind putting the horse's arse before it's head and the announcing to everyone that that was how god intended it all along. Jeez. Why bother with him and his ilk? We've seen these morons come and go - maybe it's just entertainment.
  7. You would think that with all the circular reasoning he did he would have been dizzy. Maybe that's ultimately why he lost one eye. It was causing him to sin.
  8. Morals are man made? Who came up with that crock? ...OH! wait.... now I understand... johniam is back. Well.... let's see... morals? The subject is morals, right? The 10 Commandments - God's Revelation in the Old Testament The 10 Commandments are found in the Bible's Old Testament at Exodus, Chapter 20. They were given directly by God to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai after He had delivered them from slavery in Egypt: "And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God… ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' Is not being idolatrous a moral? Okay, maybe not. But there could be an argument made for loyalty being a moral. If that doesn't suit you, we'll call it good moral fiber - or character. THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' Whaddya think folks? I say yes - but I'll let you vote. FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' Vote. FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' I'd call this a moral (And so would Jesus - but I digress.) SIX: 'You shall not murder.' Yep... sounds like a moral to me. SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' Uh-huh - moral... check! EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' Yep. NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' Don't lie about people - now if you don't think this is a moral, then don't get all uppity about falsehoods in the press or the dirty business of politics. If you're willing to blow this one off as "man-made" for VP, then you'd have to accept it everywhere else you encounter it. TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.' Coveting is tricky - because it has to do with the "I wanna's," It's more internal. BUT if you say this isn't a moral, then I can see how you'd condone der Victoid stealing money, homes, wives... whatever the heck he wanted. Those look like morals to me. But since johniam says that morals are really man-made, I'll just ignore them and go do as I please.
  9. twi isn't worth the time or the energy it would take to write what should be said. Why fan flames? All this angst only gets used to fuel the last few remnants of idiots "believers" to dig and and keep trying to move something that should move on it's own worth.
  10. There was a movie called "Like Water For Chocolate" We can call it "No Water With Dinner" (Not sure if it's still true, but there was a big cult teaching that we couldn't drink water with our meals.)
  11. How creative do you want to get?
  12. Why don't we just call it "Cornfield Follies" and be done with it? or "Corn Cult Follies" Or "HIGOOTWALTTAI" (How I Got Out of the Way and Lived To Tell About It" Or just call it The Next Thing" In the long run, does it matter? People will go because of the content.
  13. Now I see the cat! How cool! I have some Photoshop skills should they become needed or wanted. I might be able to design a logo should one be needed or wanted.
  14. The TWIt-less Diner? What about The Midnight Diner? We were all supposed to be greasespots by midnight. It would be a homage to this site and a further thumbing of the nose to the cult.
  15. Does it have to have "Way" in it? "Greasespot" was so creative... and NOT way. I'd rather not give the cult anymore face time... Then again, it's not my call...
  16. The great thing about "Greasespot Cafe" as a name is that it had nothing to do with any one belief, and it was a real thumbing of the nose to twi. LCM all said we'd be greasespots by midnight - so this is the place we all met to prove we were still here (kinda like a stubborn debbil spurt.) I'd use a name that points to something old and something new...something with the word "Diner" in the title. That would maybe lend some continuity from the "Cafe" image that we all came to know and love. Then instead of greeting new folks with a cuppa joe, we can greet them with adam and eve on a raft. (That's poached eggs on toast.) Just a thought....
  17. Thanks to all the mods. I think I got moderated a few times.
  18. Two fine people! You both deserve the best in everything. I hope you're both intensely happy for a long time. dooj

    Let's Remember

Since we soon we will all be finding other ways to meet each other. Since the year is coming to a close. Since this is a time for family and remembrance. Let's remember all those who have graces the forums of GSC and have made it place that is like no other. All those fine people who have left these mortal bounds. We read their posts, laughed at their jokes, grimaced at their faux pas, and loved them for who they were. They helped make our time here memorable. May they never really be gone from our love and our memories. I'll start with the names I remember: RumRunner LG I think it might be appropriate to write anecdotes or kind sayings for those we knew. I'll wait to write mine since it's so fresh - not only for me but also in recent GSC history.

I don't stop in here often anymore. It's been over two months and I still can't believe it - yet the stark reality slaps me in the face daily. Yes Groucho your friendship with him was special and a relationship he cherished. I'm thankful for the time we had together and the love we shared.
  21. I saw a lot of 8th corps faces as well. Must be mostly from the 10th's first year. I had no emotion when viewing the pics.... just another lifetime. Well, I was emotionless until I thought I caught a glimpse of RR way back then - but I'm not sure if it was him or not. I did cringe when I saw the photos from the Rodeo School - how foolish that was! Just another time and another life....
  22. I'm posting this not only because it is about the Declaration of Independence, but also because RR loved it so. We watched it together many times and discussed history and "the course of human events." <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyttEu_NLU&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyttEu_NLU&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyttEu_NLU&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
