    The 60s!

Music tops my list of things I remember from the 60's. AM radio was still the main stay and everything had to fit a 3 minute timeframe to get airplay. There was, of course, an FM band but it was reserved mostly for opera and classical. To fill the ever growing void in listener interest, underground radio was born. We had a local AM station that featured an underground show from 10 to 12 PM on Sunday night. There one could hear the likes of "Light My Fire", "In A Gadda Da Vidda" and "Purple Haze". We would also make our pilgrimages to the local "head shops" where one could hear Frank Zappa, Blodwyn Pig , Joni Mitchell , CTA and Paul Butterfield all in the same visit. Oh to listen once again to "Fathers and Sons" by Muddy Waters on my "click" eight track "click" tape deck.
  5. GEORGE------------I see your point. When this album came out, most of this type of stuff was relegated to the underground stations and programs but for the sake of keeping peace in the neighborhood I am throwing in the towel and defaulting the next one to the first poster who wants it. The answer by the way is Sisotobell Lane from Joni Mitchell's freshman album titled Song To A Seagull. If you like lyrics( and I suspect you do) this album is a "must hear" or at least worthy of a "look see" at Joni's website. CK----Thanks for your kind words. If you do shoot that bird, make sure it's not a Seagull!
  6. OK----------This song is a bit obscure but the album it comes from is a classic. Here are some clues before I post the lyric. This is the first album by a very successful and prolific solo artist. It was recorded in 1967. It was produced by David Crosby. The bass player is Stephan Stills. We have a rocking chair Each of us rocks his share Eating muffin buns and berries By the steamy kitchen window Sometimes we do Our tongues turn blue.
  7. Roller Derby Queen----------------Jim Croce.

Perhaps I'm showing my age, but I was merely jesting when I suggested we might have to define "action". Back in the day, the word "action" had a meaning of its' own. Maybe this was a local expression . I'm not sure. We would say something like: "It's Friday night, I just got paid and I'm ready to find some 'action'." When people would say "love is a verb, etc., there were those who would secretly snicker at the implication. And for goodness sake! Does noone realize Mars is not a planet? It's a candy bar!
  9. GOOD GOLLY! That girl sounds meaner than a junkyard dog!
  10. Roy ------------I just now read your post on $,$,and more $. You are so right, my friend. I doubt that GOD carries a wallet. Giving can involve anything. It can be a car, a ride home, time volunteering, or even a much needed smile and kind word. I can't remember the scripture used, but someone once told me that what we should expect to receive back is an even greater capacity to give. That way noone loses and there is no guilt in expecting to receive back. Holy hugs back at ya, Bro.

Love is a verb and a verb connotes action. OOPS!------------now we'll have to define"action". HAHAHA.
  12. Joseph-------------Since you have already posted the text of these visions, would it be possible to paraphrase now or summarize in a rhythm that is more consistant with modern speech. In other words, describe them in the same way you might describe what took place during the course of a day when you were busy running personal errands? ----Just curious.
  13. Great shows always seem even better when you share them with good people.I met up with Chatty Kathy and her Hubby last night for just such a memorable event. No weenies to roast but plenty of bbq ribs and pulled pork "samiches"as well as a good time just chewin' the fat. Back to the show: Magic Slim hit the stage like a grissly bear that just escaped his cage. This was hard drivin' blues at it's best with no unneccessary filler. Slim plays with finger picks in a style that harkens back to Muddy Waters but without the bottleneck. His intensity level and connection to the crowd would be hard to duplicate. He was joined on his last number by powerhouse vocalist Big Time Sarah and Roger"Hurricane"Wilson. Roger plays a very clean and crisp style of guitar much in the way the late Rory Gallager did. Very fine work, indeed. Local harp man Mike Gilliland also left his mark with a harp and vocal style that was thick and straight to the point. It was easy to see he's been inspired by the late, great Sam Meyers. He stomped through Little Walter material like he owned it.All in all the day seemed to fly by much too quickly.
  14. What kind of society are we living in ,anyway?
  15. Abi--------- I'm with you on throwing a little science in the mix. Sure we're trying to find out what GOD says on the issue but we are after all talking about a medical proceedure . What could it possibly hurt to further understand the science and medicine involved in the focal point of our discussion? If we know what we are seeking an answer to it may get us closer to understanding the answer.
  16. HEY SOCKS!-----I've got a new book ready for release also. It's called " How To Win Freinds And Act Like A Human". Distribution will be restricted to only those above the "branch leader" level as I wish to reach as many as I can who are truly needful first. There may be exceptions to this rule based on a one on one examination of credentials.
  17. OK Raf-----U could make that plural if it floats your boat.
  18. Teacher: "ok Johnny, you've been waving your hand for 10 minutes, spell Mississippi. Johnny: Mississi. Teacher: Johnny, where's the " pp"? Johnny:"Runnin' down my leg Teach, why did you think I was waving my hand?"
  19. BOY!-------------I think I just lost my appetite!

    Guitar Talk

A la------------Every now and then an artist comes along who seems to make you forget about technique and draws you right into the emotion. Eva was surely that type of artist. When she sang "Over the Raibow" it was almost as if it was flowing from her for the very first time. The music world lost her way too soon but she certainly left us with quite a legacy.
  21. Roy---------My computer is quite old and I have trouble getting past the basic functions. Ditto regarding my computer skills. TWI used to teach that to be "saved" was to be made whole. I honestly never checked to see if that line of thinking is biblically accurate. From the little that I could see it looked like one used car salesman selling a car to another used car salesman. Holy hugs back at ya' Bro. PEACE.
  22. Joseph----------Glad to hear you are recovering from your injuries. Something I have found helpful in evaluating experiences like the ones you have described is to see if they concur with what we already know from the scriptures. In other words, if I feel GOD has told me to rob a bank to help finance a particular cause, I can find scripture that pretty clearly addresses how GOD views bank robbery. Suppose again that GOD really does want me to support this particular cause. He, being GOD, could surely find a way for me to do so without contradicting what is written in the scriptures. Another aspect to consider is: " What benefit will come from me knowing this? " To summerize then, there should be some positive benefit available from the information and the actions required should be within the framework of what the scriptures have shown to be acceptable. The Greasespot is not a religous group but I hope you can see that there is plenty of room for you to "fit in". I can only speak for myself but that's my "2 cents".

    Favorite Roads

Linda Z----------Put-In-Bay has always been one of my spots along with the lighthouse at Marblehead. I no longer remember the route number of the road where we had our weekly branch meetings but I'm pretty sure it was called Center Ridge Rd. Mason's Hall on Sunday nights. We sure had some sweet fellowship meetings in those days. Brookpark Road is one of the most tedious, boring roads you could possibly drive but I still remember the anticipation we felt as we made our way to those meetings. "What a Fellow's Hip!"
  24. greg 123--------Welcome to the amusement park formally known as Grease Spot Cafe. It seems you have gotten in line for the world famous roller coaster ride Known as "Errors In PFAL". It's a bumpy one for sure, and seatbelts are mandatory. There are, if you prefer, many other rides in this park and I hope you stick around and sample a few. Some of them are a bit nostalgic while others seem to be just plain silly.
  25. Groucho----------Ditto on "Timothy". I still have a copy that I spin from time to time. I really like the total sound of it and never bothered to evaluate it's "accuracy". There was also a non TWI group that attracted lots of attention at that time called GLASS HARP. We would go to their concerts and try to win the lead guitarist,Phil Keagy, over to the TWI way of thinking. It was definately a trophy type of thinking on our part. Some of their/his work is still out there and available. He is/was a very talented musician who seemed to borrow from a classical background. He found the JCING thinking a great stumbling block. Another memorable effort from that era is O THEOPHILUS by a group called Hope.( TWI but not HQ sanctioned) Lynn and Sue are mentioned in the special thanks credits.
