  1. I feel like that's a fool's errand. There's too much ambiguity for a decisive answer.
  2. And thus you are right back at the heart of the issue. Should religious texts be accepted as the authoritative source? Three Abrahamic faiths. Which one? Nobody's right if everybody's wrong....Hey! That would make a good song lyric.
  3. The modern concept of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise originated in Dante's Divine Comedy, in the 14th century. So, there's that.
  4. I apologize for my feeble attempt at humor. See, if you look at it one way, it looks like God and if you look at it *another*way, it looks like Dog. Soooo..it all depends on how you look at it. (I knew I shouldn't have quit my day-job.)

  6. Or a Dogly person. It all depends on how you look at it.
  7. Humans have a natural, built-in sense of morality. It's thought that this innate sense of morality may have been responsible for mankind's continued ability to survive as a whole. (Greater good vs individual needs) Source: Origin and Development of Moral Sense: A Systematic Review - PMC
  8. Would it be fair to say ""The objective standard for morality is, in and of itself, subjective." ?
  9. When I get to heaven, gonna have me a cocktail, vodka and ginger ale. Gonna smoke a cigarette that's 9 miles long. Gonna kiss that pretty girl, on the Tilt-A-Whirl, 'cuz this old man is goin' to town..
  10. And for the non-believer, it's difficult to believe there is no karma. But here's the thing. If you make a habit out of blowing through red lights on a regular basis, there's a pretty good chance you're going to get T-boned someday. It's not karma, it's just the laws of statistics catching up with you. It's not a punishment from God. It's not a tit for a tat or an eye for an elbow. It's just a way to cope with the sometimes harsh realities of this world.
  11. I'd love to see a handling of II Peter 1:20. (Irony is my middle name.)
  12. Thanks. I just put that on my list of re-reads.
  13. Simple. Write: The Teacher Box 666 New Knockabout, Ohio
  14. And then there was the one who didn't. edit: Different situation, but dealt with in the same manner.
  15. Not even close to what was "taught" in Christian Family and Sex. *Just spit in your hand*
  16. Back in the U.S.S.R. There is a town in North Ontario with dream comfort memory to spare.
  17. Thumbs up for a perfect segue. (I'm gonna pass, though. I've been hogging them lately.)
