  1. Or Unity in essentials; liberty in nonessentials; charity in all things. or don't nit pick the small stuff.
  2. I wasn't aware that anyone was confusing the two...but then again I forgot that it really is all about them.

  4. They tell themselves they are doing something - however minor and insignificant it really is. The sad thing is that Christians don't need to go after one another. We have enough incoming problems (mainly Islam) to deal with. My church teaches "unity in essentials; charity in inessentials" This prolonged war on doctrine is nothing more than a diversion. It's not really doing "the Lord's work" as much as they might like to believe.
  5. I hit the wayback site and was able to pull up the site from 8 September. Perhaps they have put up the under construction page and renamed the old page? I get on here once a quarter and maybe take a look at STF to see if there's anything of interest (which there usually isn't). The TorT site hasn't been updated in a LONG time. Seriously - they are using the same framework I put up there 10 years ago. The BU site got a much needed facelift, but I'm not interested enough to actually read anything on any of their sites.
  6. There is a lot of fear in "counterfeits" of being swept by every wind of doctrine. CES prided (and I mean prided) itself on being able to "consume the fish and spit out the bones" of whatever latest thing they were into - never getting that they were being swept all over the place due to being repelled by anything that remotely smacked of orthodoxy.
  7. I don't know if any church reached out to him. His family was heavily involved in 2nd Pres here in Indy prior to his way experience. There seemed to be some going back to that when Charlie died and when Mrs. Lynn died. JAL really didn't like 2nd Pres for all the reasons why I do like it - as in live and let live. My husband thinks he's a jerk. I thought he could be a jerk, although he wasn't to me.
  8. The name for what ails JAL is character disorder. Many psychological-type people think personality disorders and character disorders are the same thing, but they're not. JAL has never seen himself as anything other than a person bringing people back to the "truth" of PFAL with minor revisions. CES, as he envisioned it, was never intended to bring in the new. It was there to catch those who had fled the way, or talk those who were in into getting out of that system and into a "better" system. Seriously - a captive audience. He targeted high ranking wayfers and people he believed would be loyal. He was amazed that anyone wouldn't jump at the chance to be around him. To achieve this end, he allowed guys like Ralph to bring in new ideas. However, when it came right down to it, he didn't want to seriously consider anything really new. Momentus - it was something that would (presumably) achieve in a weekend what had taken months in the way corp. I don't know what's up with STFI, except they never got that JAL was their bread and butter guy.
  9. None of it felt "real" at the time. All of it felt forced. Woe to the person who pointed that out.
  10. Seriously delusional...but then TWI was/is full of that kind.
  11. What a lovely story. You do realize that in the big scheme of things, TWI is nothing more than a pimple on the foot <--(a$$) of the body of Christ. Did I say that?
  12. Was it actually called "burn the ballast"? That makes no sense. Ballast is necessary. I remember burn the chaff, which is a great thing - until someone defines for you what is worthless to you and then shames you into burning it up. My husband lost most of his extensive (what is now classic) rock collection that way. I simply never participated. My possessions were rather streamlined at that time and I have always had a problem with someone telling me what I can and can't read.
  13. I've kept 1 copy of everything. Threw the rest out. I keep it because it keeps me humble. When I get to thinking I know everything, I just take a look at that stuff and remember where that thinking got me.
  14. The two in Hamilton Cty involved Graesers and JB separately. Those were consolidated and then dismissed. The other 2 were filed in Marion county court and I can't find a record anymore.
  15. <br /><br /><br />I'm sorry - apparently you can't go there from a link. Here's the final outcome: 10/04/2007 Converted Event Meghan Lehner files Motion to Withdraw. Order submitted. dl1008 USER: DJL 10/18/2007 Converted Event Gibbons Jones, P.C. files Notice of Change of Address. js1019 USER: JM 12/08/2008 Converted Event The parties submit the Stipulation of Dismissal and proposed Order. (to Court) (received by c/m) js1210 USER: JM 12/11/2008 Converted Event DM Order of Dismissal entered. JS1215 Order RJO USER: JM 04/13/2011 Clerk Administrative Event File Destroyed Pursuant to Administrative Rule 7. Funny thing happened on the way to pulling this up. I ended up on the criminal side and found that Graeser's youngest son is having a hard time staying clear of the law.
  16. I'm trying to imagine if I could care less about what any of those people teach and believe. I don't think I can. OldSkool - I can't be bothered reading what any of them write. I might be curious for a moment - then I get bogged down by all the wordiness. Steve - I used to enjoy a good old fashioned debate, but I don't anymore.
  17. https://mycase.in.gov/CaseDetail.aspx?CaseID=3112009 One case decided...
  18. Last I heard he was Presbyterian. Which is ironic since JAL's family was Presbyterian before he got waylaid.
  19. Klug is such a klutzy name. Addison sounds classier.

Off topic - don't spend a lot of time here or on the computer anymore - life intervened, but I couldn't help notice that johniam seems to have had an epiphany of sorts about TWI. Is that correct?
  21. Yes he does. I just find the dropping of the last name to be very interesting.
  22. And see if you can guess who it is. http://www.indystar.com/article/20120323/OPINION07/203230316/ I'm just curious about the name change.
  23. Chuckle Exie - TLFL is The Living Truth (according to JAL) Fellowship Gosh, it's almost been a couple of years since there was a good old fashioned upheaval.
  24. Main website is seriously out of date. It's March and no first quarter magazine. "Network" newsletter - none since last May. No BOD annual meeting minutes for this year. Biblical Unitarian site - new design Truth or Tradition site - same one I did in 2002-2003
  25. I knew JS well. Very well. I spent a lot of time with the guy. He went back and forth between clueless and arrogant. It was cute for a while - the clueless part. Both grate on the nerves if no steps are taken to correct deficiencies. The problem is that JS doesn't perceive any personal deficiency beyond the occasional need to lose a few pounds or get a haircut. He didn't screw around in the TWI years - he was too socially inept. He still was the last time I talked or saw him. Appallingly so. When it comes to the Bible, he is always right. He is so sure he is right that he rewrote the NT to fit his theology. That's the only way he could get "it is written" to agree with what he thinks it should have said. He reworded it, and called it new light. Gotta love it. Seriously - the whole bunch needs to be b!tch-slapped.
