  1. Hammeroni, there's really no need to address me in the third person. I'll try to answer any questions (or respond to comments) you have for me. That being said . . . I don't really understand the point you're trying to make here. If you're suggesting that Geer is not living according the standard expressed in that verse -- I can't say he isn't. I can wonder though, if you are living according to that standard yourself if your agenda is to denigrate or disparage Geer for past mistakes. Do you know what he's currently doing with his life?
  2. Ok. I suppose three (and possibly a few more) would constitute "many times." I'm not convinced that it does but I can see how someone else might think so. I don't think you really understand my "argument" if you think that Paul's focus in mentioning where he came from (his background) is the emphasis in those passages. Yeah, well, I suppose my "private interpretation" is no better, nor worse than your private interpretation. We can do a poll to see how many agree with your's as opposed to mine but, I also lack very little confidence in that being objective. I hardly know Geer. I cannot say one way or another if he's guilty of the charges he's been accused of. Frankly, personally, I could really care less if he's guilty or not. I'm just expressing an opinion as anyone else here is doing. If that bothers you -- well -- I don't really care about that either.
  3. Belle, citing one section wherein Paul admitted his past mistakes hardly qualifies as "many times." Also, if we are to believe that Paul was inspired by God to write what he wrote -- then his confession wasn't exactly of his own choosing. God surely had it preserved for our learning but the lesson we learn from that section isn't just about confessing one's mistakes -- the emphasis is on moving on from that point -- doing the will of God.
  4. That's a interesting point. However, if a person believes -- really believes -- that they're "called by God" to serve His people then serving those who are looking for something else is a distraction. Geer might be focused on things other than what you're focused on. He might -- I wouldn't really know though.
  5. That's certainly one way to look at it. Personally, I've found it to be a complete waste of my time trying to defend and/or account for my past mistakes. Some people will never be satisfied even if you did spend your time apologizing for the wrongs you did.
  6. Well, now that you brought up the Apostle Paul I suppose it's relative to bring up what he said in Philippians: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Even though Paul was a murderer prior to his conversion I don't see where he spent a great deal of time dwelling on it or mentioning it in his writings. Do you think, if he did, that we would have had the revelations he received? I can appreciate that you're just expressing your opinion. I'm just wondering if your opinion is reflected in Scriptures.
  7. :) Yeah, it's funny how stating your OPINION can raise eyebrows.
  8. I'm sure but, Bramble can you talk a little bit more about what you perceive as your "deity"? I'm getting the sense (from reading your response) that you really don't need any deity. I've conversed with many atheists which do as exactly as you without the need to add a deity to their lives.
  9. At what point would he be able to stop doing as you suggest and move on? I'm not sure what kind of "restitution" would be satisfactory to everyone and if he failed to satisfy even one person would he qualify for forgiveness for his past wrong-doings? Seems to me, that if a man wanted to move forward with the "things of God" he would better serve God by forgetting his past mistakes. It can drag you down if you don't.
  10. History is defined as a chronological record of significant events (as affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes. As such the Bible is a historical document -- howbeit one which isn't given much credence by secular historians because the events recorded therein cannot be collaborated by sources outside those who wrote the history recorded in it. However, I find it interesting to note that two different versions can be given of the same event by "historians" -- for example -- has anyone checked out the differences between the Japanese and U.S. version of WWII? So, you're right Mike -- "so much for history!"
  11. Interesting topic. I wonder -- How does someone, who believes in God, communicate with Him if they do not pray?
  12. You do realize, don't you, that as long as you keep "picking at that scab" she'll just continue to defend herself?
  13. You must be a woman. I see you changed your mind only to change it back again. ;) Acknowledging something and complying is not the same thing, I suppose.
  14. I suppose it's difficult to quit "picking at a scab" when others keep reminding you that you have one.
  15. Sorry Danny -- I've been spending the last 10 minutes listening to Bianca Ryan so I didn't notice you posted to this thread again. Anyways . . . I appreciate your questions but, as I previously made it known -- I'm not interested in having a discussion concerning LCM's book. I just wanted to know if anyone here knew of a critique of the book I could look at. But do carry on. It's an open thread and if someone else would care to join you in a discussion about it that's alright with me.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozDh4NQveJs Or you could type [url= followed by the actual url and a close bracket --- followed by any text of your choice -- followed by /url enclosed in brackets.
  17. OMG! She is absolutely adorable!!!!!!! Thanks a bunch for steering me in that direction.
  18. A natural one. Is there any other kind?
  19. Danny, it's really no big deal to me if you wish to "spew" (although I don't think the point of my question was an attempt on my part to "spew"). You are free to say whatever you wish to say and I am free not to take you seriously. Would you like tap or spring water?
  20. The word "plagerize" is a link to the thread I was referring to.
  21. topoftheworld, are you advocating someone should plagerize? My, my, my. Now that you've gotten that off your chest can I offer you a drink?
  22. Thanks dmiller. It does look interesting.
  23. Yeah, well, it's not exactly a "burning" interest for me either. Just something that passed through my mind as I was thinking about some of the critique I've read concerning VP's doctrinal stuff found in his books. Most of them have been debunked but, I can't seem to find much on LCM's books -- but then I don't recall that he wrote very many of them. Anyways, I didn't intend for this to turn into any -- how did templelady put it? -- "slap fest". And if it continued I probably would have requested one of the Admins locking the thread down. I suppose if anyone has any info on the matter they could simply PM it to me if they happen to read this thread.
  24. Are you giving me the WHOLE bottle? If I didn't know better I might think you were trying to get me drunk. Not that I would object. ;)
