  1. As far as I know, only two people portrayed Danny Partridge (and one was in a made-for-TV movie portraying the other), so... Danny Bonaduce? George
  2. Sorry. When production costs spiraled over budget, Universal Chairman Lew Wasserman told producer Ross Hunter to shut it down. Hunter persisted, and finished the film. Universal execs predicted the film would be a flop and premiered it in many markets, hoping to recoup their loss before word of mouth killed it at the box office. The film turned out to be a hit, and brought in huge profits. Hunter publicly boasted that the film paid the salaries at Universal for several years, thus earning Wasserman's eternal enmity and resulting in Hunter's contract not being picked up for renewal. Patty Poulsen, who portrayed Joan, one of the stewardesses aboard the "Golden Argosy" in her first and only film role, was an actual stewardess for American Airlines. She was the winner of a stewardess beauty contest in which one of the prizes was a role in this film. She was also used heavily in American Airlines' advertising of its new uniforms during the mid to late 1960s, photos that have, more recently, appeared in several different coffee table books celebrating the history of the airline hostess. Ever since the introduction of the MPAA two years prior, this movie was one of the few G rated films to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. The others are Oliver! (1968) which won it, Funny Girl (1968), Fiddler on a Roof (1971), Sounder (1972), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Babe (1995), and Toy Story 3 (2010). This movie had three sequels (arguably, not as bad as "The Exorcist II"). It was the final film of actors Van Heflin, Virginia Grey, Thomas Browne Henry, and Jessie Royce Landis, as well as composer Alfred Newman. The movie was double-billed in some markets with "The Andromeda Strain," with the tag line "Together On One Great Family Program". The film featured five Academy Award winners (not for this film). The two main stars each received 10% of the gross, or about $7,000,000 (a lot of money at the time). One of them, however, called this film "the worst piece of junk ever made." George
  3. Sarah Jessica Parker Ed Wood Martin Landau George
  4. Teri Hatcher Soapdish Sally Field George
  5. I'm completely caught up on all of the shows. (I usually am, within a week of their airing.) Maybe it's part of the charm of SHIELD, but I'm getting a little tired of "who's the traitor, this week?" No major complaints about the show, though; but I'd put it at the bottom of my super-hero TV list. Since you asked  here's my ranking. YMMD. Legends of Tomorrow Supergirl Flash Gotham Arrow SHIELD George
  6. Don't know. They're probably from another immensely popular film which I haven't seen... George
  7. It WAS hard to suppress a strong feeling of deja vu, while watching. I was just waiting for the line, "Behold, a FULLY-FUNCTIONAL death planet!" George
  8. Ian McKellen The DaVinci Code Tom Hanks George
  9. I suppose one could find similar oddities for each of the others. Let me try to narrow it down. It has to do with their careers. They all have one thing in common, but the "odd man" is slightly different. George PS I realize that the "Jimmy Duggan" character in "A League of Their Own" was based on Foxx.
  10. I don't know if anyone will see this. (It's the first post on the thread in five years!) But I heard a brain teaser on the radio program "Says You" which baseball aficionados should enjoy. Which of the following Hall-of-Famers is different from the others, and how is he different? Be specific. Babe Ruth Hank Aaron Lou Gehrig Willie Mays Jimmie Foxx (Note: it's not about statistics. You could say that Aaron is the only one who hit over 750 HR; but you could just as easily say that Gehrig was the only one to hit fewer than 500.) George
  11. I can't speak for WW, but I know I chuckled. It's fun when the "whole" title actually makes some sense. New one soon. George
  12. Batman: The Brave and the Bold and the Beautiful (?) George
  13. I stand corrected. I saw posters with all the Jaws movies together and conflated Jaws 2 with Jaws the Revenge. An easy one: A group of young super-heroes stop an ancient Egyptian god from conquering Vietnam. George
  14. I've seen posters for the movie with and without the II New one soon. George
  15. Assuming NO ONE WOULD GET IT FOR A WHILE, I was going to mention that this actor has his own category on jumptheshark.com*. I didn't pick PARTICULARLY obscure roles, but I didn't think anyone would get it without Jefferson D'Arcy. Oh, well. Raf's up. George *If any of you watched the cartoon series "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," the last episode made fun of jumptheshark.com, basically by going through every way, mentioned on the site, that a show "jumps the shark." ("Special" episode, child born, etc.) McGinley voiced Aquaman through the second half, pulling a "jump" double: new actor -- same character; and, of course, Ted McGinley. (Henry Winkler appears as Ambush Bug.) At the end, while they're "closing down the set," McGinley/Aquaman points out that he's been on SEVERAL successful shows, thank you very much! I don't know how Netflix or Hulu (etc.) works, but watch that episode, if you can.
  16. Name the actor Roger Phillips Ashley Covington Evans Clay Fallmont George
  17. I'm guessing that "Hey, you guys!" is also a clue, but I don't recognize it, any more than the other stuff. So, I'll just toss out Latina actresses until I inadvertently stumble upon the right one, or Raf gets bored and puts an end to this. Rita Moreno? George
  18. I don't know if Julie Andrews ever won a Grammy. I know she's won an Oscar and an Emmy, and probably a Tony. But none of those roles were played by her, as far as I know. A large fraction of the names are Hispanic, so it might be a Latina actress, but I don't think I'll get it without googling (unless there are giveaway roles which you haven't posted yet). George
  19. Sorry. ACE award and Raf's little poem notwithstanding,I'm not getting it. George
  20. I expect that there will be a at the end of this, but none of those roles ring a bell, except Carmen Sandiego, and I don't know who played her... George
