  1. I didn't mean that to be a clue for another show, but we can go with it. Anyone other that hiway know what I mean? (This show also was probably "pre-WordWolf.") George
  2. To steal a phrase from ANOTHER show, I'm just going to "flip over all the cards" here. The show was "Captain Nice." Carter Nash was a chemist with a potion that gave him super-powers. When he first used it, the explosion blew off his outer garments, leaving him in long johns and a belt. When asked what the "CN" on his belt buckle meant, the only answer he could come up with was "Captain Nice," much to his mother's dismay. At the same time, "Mr. Terrific" (not associated with the DC Comics character), with a similar story line, was carried on another network. Both shows lasted less than one season. Free post George
  3. Coincidentally, both shows (on different networks) debuted the same day and were canceled the same day (I think). Geroge
  4. Right. "A Matter of Honor." (And, by the way, I believe it's spelled 'gagh'.) You're up. George
  5. "May I say, Captain, that you are receiving a fine officer!" "Thank you for your opinion. We will determine that for ourselves." George
  6. Not "Sledge Hammer" (about two decades too late). Too bad hiway disqualified himself, because these lines from the opening sequence would (hopefully) have given it to him: "It's the man who flies like an eagle!" "It's the man with muscles of lead!" "It's the masked enemy of all evil!" "Are you kidding? It's some nut in his underwear." "That's no ordinary nut, son. That's..." "There's a would-be killer up there! Somebody get the police!" "You are the police!" "I certainly got here fast." "What you're proposing is illegal, immoral and just plain rotten!" "That's dandy; other mothers have sons that invent steamboats and telephones and things. Mine invents a lettuce machine." "This is a democracy, Mr. Ibid. We can arrest people for practically anything." "When I was a little kid, I was afraid of the dark." "Oh, every little kid's afraid of the dark." "During the day?" George
  7. No, though the political subtext might have given you that idea. This show only ran one season, in the late 60's. Here are a couple more quotes. "There's a would-be killer up there!
  8. We're going to hold you to that. This one was bit obscure, but I bet hiway and WW watched it... "This is a democracy, Mr. Ibid. We can arrest people for practically anything." "When I was a little kid, I was afraid of the dark." "Oh, every little kid's afraid of the dark." "During the day?" George
  9. I infer from the previous two posts that the quotes were from one of the various Rocky and Bullwinkle shows, and that bulwinkl is stating that TLB was correct. If so, will TLB post one, this time? George
  10. I think he said it three times in the half-hour! Anyway... I hope this goes in one quote, too, because I'm having trouble finding others "Eddie, kiss me goodnight!" George
  11. Indeed. The classic NG episode "Qpid." (The line was spoken by Worf.) George
  12. Actually, Speedy said that on a recent "Batman: The Brave and the Bold"; but I think you're looking for "The Adventures of Superman." George
  13. In lieu of hiway... "Be the ball, Billy. Be the ball." George
  14. Seizing the initiative here... I've got a song, ain't got no melody... George
  15. Sleuth Michael Caine Dirty Rotten Scoundrels George
  16. Raf, or anyone, want to give it a go? George
  17. Bumped up, in case anyone wants to try his/her hand. George
  18. Vermont wanted to leave, and we didn't let them? George
  19. Assuming that a secession could be achieved non-violently, the upsides would be not having to pay huge federal taxes to bail out failures like California, freedom to determine our own energy policy, and to determine education and health care policies that best fit our constituents (things that the federal government has no business doing), among others. What may come as a surprise to many people is tht Texas isn't just an energy economy; we have a large agrarian base, as well, so we'd be in a good position to be, if not self-sustaining, then sustainable by trade with other countries (including the 49 United States). :) It would be particularly sweet if we could "nationalize" the military bases here and not have to develop our own military from scratch, but I think Washington would object. ;) Since Medicare is paid largely by the states, anyway, that wouldn't change much; and we wouldn't have to subsidize Nebraska, etc. Although I'm not happy that Gov. Perry did accept some Obamamoney, it was a small amount, used to pay for educational supplies. Most Obamamoney offered had strings attached (set up entitlements that had to go on after the Obamamoney went away, etc.); this was refused. George
  20. "Well, whaddya think?" "I'm not sure, what do you think?" "I've got a bad feeling about him." "You do?" "Yeah, definitely. Don't you?" "Don't suppose you have any idea what the damn thing is, huh?" "Wish to hell we did." "I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do." George
  21. The circus performers line threw me. "The Princess Bride." George
  22. I was hoping that at least Maddy would have gotten this one. As Voyager episodes go, it was pretty memorable. In "Flashback," Tuvok is having psychotic episodes due to a repressed memory from early in his Starfleet career, when he was aboard the Excelsior at the time of "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country." Janeway agrees to help him by mind-melding, to get inside his memories. There were some obvious credibility concerns when Janeway is actually visible to the other crewmembers in Tuvok's memory; but it was nice to see Capt. Sulu, Cmdr. Janice Rand, and Kang. (I think this was an attempt to start a Sulu-based show.) Hailing frequencies open. (Free post!) George
