  1. I surely feel it was over used in TWI And I do think in some circles it is misused today. The term seems to connote a special place - perhaps a place of reverence you hold for that person. Not always wrong as Geshia pointed out "best friend" but something does change when it is "Father IN THE WORD" I think we are instructed to avoid that. What great replies!! thank you!!!
  2. Now I posted this and it did not show up - so if I post this and it appears twice I am sorry. Then ignore this one and do the other. Why are we told to "seek the face" of God? Is it because as you are face to face you cannot hide anything. You are open to he who looks at us? Why not "seek God" Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually. -- 1 Chronicles 16:11 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. -- 2 Chronicles 7:14 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. -- Psalms 27:8 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. -- Psalms 105:4 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. -- Hosea 5:15 Here are some things that happen in a face to face John 6:40 Will of God: "every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life." 3. M--list You write so well and what a great post
  4. I also thought I hit a button or something - all of a sudden it looked like the board needed vitamins. Rocky mine either. But I like the blue better than the fade green I only have default which makes it blue and denium which makes it pale green I don't even recall what it was before - wasn't it gray or something?
  5. But Kim what if the intent of the heart is wrong and people use scripture to hold others in spiritual servtitude by becoming "their spiritual father" I want to know if it is biblically based for very real reasons (that which I posted is not the whole story). You can call anyone YOU want "Father in the Word" or "mother" or worship a pancake with the likeness of Christ. :) that is your choice but I want to know IF SCRIPTURE supports the "father in the word" being used. Thanks Word Wolf and George.
  6. Am I wrong here - Now the confusion may lie in Paul’s relationship with Timothy. But again PAUL is the one who recognized TIMOTHY as his “son” in the faith. Not the other way around, plus this did not happen often. It was very infrequent. How many times did these peoople refer to themselves as father in the word? Plus what happened in this church was a woman referred to the "guest pastor" as her father in the word
  7. Everyone see what I see? Pale green and some purple? Just making sure
  8. Is father in the word biblically based? I heard someone else use it at church recently -- wigged me out a bit
  9. says Type 2: The Helper. The caring, nurturing type. I dunno...
  10. Happy Birthday to a very "young" man! (((((( you)))))
  11. Oh gosh! I wanna go. Let me see what I can figure out...
  12. Seems to me that God allows for divorce but not adultery. There is no scripture that says under THESE conditions - go ahead and sleep together. But he does say there are conditions where you can divorce ... and a spouse commiting adultery is one. Seems like IT is worse.
  13. I found the article interesting, I do not agree with it all. Thought, as they brought up, Satanic blindness - it might be an addition here.

  18. Sunesis - to your opening post On another Forum I go to they have a section "Christians only" Maybe we should have a section like that. And one for people who still favor TWI When we want to brawl we can go to the about the way or a more open forum I hope Geisha sticks around
  19. Geisha I recall TWI talking about "another Jesus" and it took me awhile to figure out they were the ones teaching about the unpowerful, tag at the end of prayer, one. They had me convinced, around the time of the Jesus Freaks, that anyone speaking of Jesus too much - or talking about HIM more than God were worshiping the creature more than the creator. I think I know where by you speak. I had Jesus patches on my blue jeans and worshipped Jesus directly. I was corrected - by TWI. The Jesus they taught was my brother, equal to me, a requirement in Romans 10: 9-10 to be born again and a tag at the end of a prayer. I switched my prayer life to "Heavenly father...." From "Lord Jesus...." as a result of the instruction I got.

  22. Kimberly! That was cute, of course post away - I just did not want the TWI doctrine lovers turning this into another of their circus threads Too many people have struggled with the inability to read the Bible after TWI and I wanted to talk about that...
