Dan's paper has this near the front:
Before beginning the body of the paper, we thought it would be helpful to briefly
summarize the conclusions of our study.
1. Every person receives the promise of salvation at the moment they confess the Lordship of Jesus and believe in their heart he has been raised from the dead. At that moment they receive the gift of holy spirit, a “seal” indicating they belong to God. God will keep His promise of salvation provided that they continue in faith.
2. Salvation is solely by God’s grace through faith. It cannot be earned by good works nor can it be lost by bad works (sin). Since the promise of salvation comes through faith, it can be rejected if one develops a “heart of unbelief,” the conscious and deliberate rejection of Christ and God. Those who have received the spirit and then subsequently reject Christ and God with a wicked heart of unbelief will themselves be rejected.Even though I only glossed over the entire paper, and read short sections throughout, these two points are what the entire paper is about. There is no "conflating" of other points. If you think he is conflating regarding these two points, fine. But that's all the paper is concerned with. But you continue to project a menacing motive into his paper.
So, maybe it is you that isn't getting the point. And that point is, he's discussing two viewpoints of salvation. Period.
True Christianity rejects the latter sections of Dan's assertions on points 1 and 2.

This past Tuesday was Sean Moon's Unification Family, a splinter from his father's Unification Church. WOW, very pro NRA survivalist, attending worship with loaded AK machine guns. Next week is Children of God, then next is Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints(Warren Jeffers). Elizabeth Vargas from ABC's 20/20 is hosting the series.

Last night's episode was the United Nation of Islam, leader was Royall Jenkins. They violated Child Labor laws. Group seperated from Louis Farakan

Hey Rocky......
I remember one of his posts stating that Taxi first took Piffle in 1995. He said it was the only time he had seen dictor’s original flick as Da Forehead had replaced it with his YouTube video of private interpretation, homophobia, misogyny, and rambling insanity before the next “class” came together in Taxi’s location. That’s how he is aware of both dictor and da forehead. Hey....a new sitcom: Dictor and Da Forehead! LOL!
More like the Odd Couple

btw, today's lectionary was Genesis chapter 3. My pastor gave an entirely different approach to the scripture than VPW or LCM

Yes, that's something they did to in rez Corps, usually in the first semester, and now and again at other times, too. There's some tiny trigger event, nothing significant, and it's an excuse to blast everyone in sight, threaten them, browbeat them some more.
I think one of the provocations for throwing out my Corps was: we were out running, outside, one cold and frosty midwinter morning: the usual 6am wake-up. Ed Horney, Corps Coordinator, had decreed that we must all wear our hats. Now, if a person is running, something to be expected is - getting hot! - so some people took off their hats for a while towards the end of their runs. Adults, right? Able to make decisions as to personal comfort levels??
This crime of taking off one's hat was grounds for giving all of us a bo££ocking and threatening to throw all of us out for disobedience. Happily (?), we were all allowed to stay, providing we didn't dare stray into disobedience again.
What? They'd rather we got heatstroke from being too bundled up? (Never mind injuring ourselves by slipping on the ice, or snow, that they were making us run on!!)
There were occasional other events of this type.
yep. Way Corps=Marine Corps, not Peace Corps(which many believers thought that was what Wierwille had in mind. Jackass never served in the military, got excused for religious reasons).

But then............so did wierwille. He lacked academic credentials AND his "putting it all together" had lots of holes in it.
It is a lot easier to fool a 19 year old........than a 36 year old. By then, many of us had serious doubts about wierwille's spiel.....and, even if we stuck around, it had more to do with relationships, indoctrination and habit patterns than *believing* that wierwille was incredibly gifted.
Gawd, I had doubts about wierwille's shtick when I was in-residence corps in 1978.
But VPW at least attended denominational institutions for academic classes. LCM never did attend denominational colleges, universities, seminaries, divinity schools, although we haven't seen Weird willie's report cards/grades from Lakeland/Mission House nor Princeton University/ Seminary because said institutions are ashamed to release material.

The only 2 who claimed to have a special insight to the Bible. I doubt that's a coincidence. I suspect he saw a kinship with them. He let Lamsa even finish work on his "Bible from Ancient Eastern Manuscripts" in his home. (Incompetent critics later claimed that was the standard Bible used in twi instead of the King James Version.) As for Pillai, he invited him to teach more than once. Both of them saw sales of their books in the twi bookstore.
Pillai claimed his understanding came from Eastern customs, and acted like the Telugu Bible was far superior to the English versions. Lamsa claimed his growing up in the Palestine area and familiarity with Eastern Aramaic and customs in Palestine gave him special insight into the actions 2000 years earlier in the same area, and with Palestinian Aramaic. Pillai seemed nice enough. Then again, so did wierwille, and we know how that worked out.

Research Nights relating to JCING? Opinions and counter arguements allowed? Where are the transcripts of those meetings? This would be earth shattering for us Twits.

Interestingly, the only people VPW ever quoted in his books by name were Bishop K. C. Pillai and George Lamsa, and not that often.

Breaking up is hard to do. Didn't Neil Sedaka write a song about that? lol

While that statement is true, it was abused, meaning you need to see things from my perspective(VPW, LCM, CG, RR) because we have God's ear.

I didn't realise Steve had died. When and how?

Closest thing in scripture is in the Gospel of John where Jesus said I am the Vine, you are the branches(not leaves).
