  1. Yesterday the Sidney Daily (Press Release Transcriber) announced, De Lisle chosen as new president of The Way International NEW KNOXVILLE — The Rev. Jean-Yves De Lisle has been selected as the new president of The Way International. De Lisle has served on the board of directors for more than 14 years and has been involved with the ministry’s international work for more than 26 years. He has traveled overseas on ministry business in Europe and Africa. De Lisle is a native of Canada and became a U.S. citizen in 1998. He and his wife, Michelle, are Way Corps ministers, and graduates of the class of 1988. They have three daughters. De Lisle will continue to serve on the Board of Directors with the Rev. Rosalie Rivenbark and the Rev. John Rupp. (talk amongst yourselves)
  2. But, but, Twinkie, some of them might make good dart board targets...
  3. Of course, the subject of this thread, John Linder hypothetically writing a tell all memoir, gives him numerous options for making a very substantial living, whether by loyalty or not.
  4. You might want to provide a more substantial justification for your admonition that someone interested in writing a memoir of their experience in TWI sit on their hands. As you might have surmised by now, I don't buy your schtick.
  5. You made some unsupported claims in that paragraph. "You folks want the dirty laundry;" "Book writers are normally folks on the fringe, folks with a bit of knowledge but without the inner circle knowledge..." Support your claims. Btw, who cares about whether you despise a "breach in loyalty?" Said "breach" supposes loyalty to the person or organization you imply is poised to be betrayed is someone or something to be honored and respected with or by that loyalty. The context thereof in this forum suggests otherwise.
  6. Well... sorta. Trolls can be disruptive and counterproductive. But asking for clarification is good and then when the new person clarifies, that's even better. And we have had plenty of trolls over the years.
  7. Karl's book is also very good... as is Losing the Way by Kristen Skedgell.
  8. You sound young. Indeed, Wierwille was a conman. Don't beat yourself up. Everybody falls for confidence games some time or another. The key is to develop critical thinking skills. That's obviously oversimplified, but I wish you well in your quest. I'd also recommend Charlene Edge's recently published memoir of her 17 year journey with TWI. Undertow: My Escape from the Fundamentalism and Cult Control of The Way International.
  9. I knew Wierwille. He was a very mean, narcissistic person. However, he obviously also had a public persona that was very charming. That charm essentially mesmerized people and made Wierwille rich. Yes, different people have different views of him. Keep reading in this forum and you'll learn from people's first hand experience with him.
  10. Wow... I suspect your friend meant well. But as Wierwille himself used to say, "sincerity is no guarantee for truth." I replied to you on another thread and mentioned that 42 years ago I initially bought into the believing stuff a bit too much. For me, it was about believing (or trying to) that God would "heal my eyesight" so I wouldn't need to wear glasses. I wish I would have realized then that Wierwille was a charlatan.
  11. I hope you've recovered well from that breakdown. It was 42 years ago when I first learned about "The Teacher" as he so boastfully called himself. As a young airman (enlisted USAF), I remember trying to believe that my eyesight would be healed if only I could believe well enough. I learned soon enough that wasn't true.
  12. All of what material? I thought you said in another thread that you only had a pdf of The Bible Tells Me So. Why do you sound like a TWI troll?
  13. How do you know that? How long have you been reading GSC forums?
  14. Sounds like you're answering your own question... which is a good thing to do, since you're the one who needs to take responsibility for what you tell anyone else. Can you live with yourself if you suggest Wierwille's writings/teachings to anyone else?
  15. It appears, Skyrider, that the moderators (at least one of them) honored your request to delete the weirdly formatted comment that was pretty much unreadable. I'm hoping your subsequent comments included all of what you tried to say in the one with the formatting problem.
  16. Given that 24 of the 26 tweets sent by that account ( @LCMARTINDALE ) are dated April Fool's Day 2011 (nearly six years ago) and the other two are from May 2011, I'd surmise (like shortfuse) that it's not the real LCM.
  17. Yes, you've been warned. And since you've come to the Greasespot Cafe, there is hope that you've encountered a significant emotional event that motivates you to re-evaluate your perspective and understanding of TWiC (The Way International Cult).
  18. Sounds like you may not grasp basic communication concepts. You haven't objectively demonstrated that you didn't make a mistake when you wrote what you wrote. Until you get an acknowledgement from your intended audience that he/she/they understood the message as you intended to send it, you have no way to know if you made such a mistake or not.
  19. It seems you are stating that Waysider misunderstood the message you intended to convey. Isn't it your job then, rather than accusing Waysider of "spin" to clarify for him (us) what you really meant? We've been through the mechanics of misunderstandings regarding your posts before... one might hope you get the point sooner or later.
  20. duality As hinted at by the word "dual" within it, duality refers to having two parts, often with opposite meanings, like the duality of good and evil. If there are two sides to a coin, metaphorically speaking, there's a duality. Peace and war, love and hate, up and down, and black and white are dualities. Another term for a duality is a dichotomy. Duality has technical meanings in geometry and physics. In geometry, duality refers to how points and planes have interchangeable roles in projective geometry. In physics, duality is the property of matter and electromagnetic radiation to be understood best through wave theory or particle theory. ------ This is truth. As always Skyrider, you make very good points. I would venture to say that most of us here at GSC hold that there IS a dichotomy between good and evil. What did Jesus have to say about this particular duality (the one that Skyrider noted in starting this thread)? Forsaking family... It occurs to me that it raises very intriguing issues especially given that most of us -- even those of us who are now 60+ years old -- were lured into this particular cult when we were of an age that typically sees individuals first establishing their adult lives apart from their parents. Even a cursory search shows troubling passages in the Gospels. One website attempts to deal with the issue by exploring what it means to forsake all. It is quite easy for some of us to look back on our lives lived over the last 40 years or so and recognize/acknowledge the truth of Skyrider's original post for this thread. It's easy for me to see how Wierwille (and those who figured after he kicked the bucket that they could capitalize on what he started) exploited Jesus' words to cement a dependency that would allow them to make their livings off of the labor of their followers. Forsaking earthly family fosters emotional dependence on the cult, does it not? After all, humans are social animals. We all crave a sense of belonging. Heck, some -- especially those who have for decades exploited mass media (televangelists) -- or even Mega-church pastors to become (filthy) rich. I wonder, how many millions of dollars does TWI have socked away for rainy days at present? No wonder Wierwille/TWI hammered on the duality of one's personal/family life.
  21. In a thread he started today, Skyrider wrote: So no, jimjack, proselytizing for other cults is NOT the purpose of GSC.
  22. Exposing the dark side of The Way International.
