  1. Do you at least see that physical death began as worded in Genesis chapter 3? Do you at least see less of a spiritual connection with God? Followers of Jesus Christ can see that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ with Jesus now seated at the right hand of God. Then beginning in the first century with the receiving of the Holy Spirit as a gift from God, that there is more of a spiritual connection now between God and human followers of Christ.

    Genesis 3:1-13

3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, "Where are you?"

10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."

11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"

12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me — she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."

13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?"

The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

Do you actually believe that? There was spiritual death in Genesis chapter 3 and then future physical death, which humanity has now. The serpent or devil is really good at deception with false things. I do not recommend believing the devil and the demons, which I figuratively call spiritual .... ants. Please pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ and NOT the spiritual god of this world.

  3. Regarding the word soul from the bible. Here is information from the very informative Nelson Bible Dictionary.

    SOUL

A word with two distinct meanings in the Bible:

    1. That which makes a human or animal body alive. This usage of the word soul refers to life in the physical body. The best example of this usage are those passages in the New Testament in which the Greek word for soul is translated as life. "For whoever desires to save his life [soul] will lose it," Jesus declared, "but whoever loses his life [soul] for My sake and the gospel's will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36-37).

This idea is also present in the Old Testament. For example, the soul of a dying person departed at death (Genesis 35:18). The prophet Elijah brought a child back to life by stretching himself upon the child three times and praying that God would let the child's soul come back into him (1 Kings 17:19-23).

    2. The word soul also refers to the inner life of man, the seat of his emotions, and the center of human personality. The first use of the word soul in the Old Testament expresses this meaning: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (soul)" (Genesis 2:7). This means more than being given physical life; the biblical writer declares that man became a "living soul," or a person, a human being, one distinct from all other animals.

The soul is described as the seat of many emotions and desires: the desire for food (Deuteronomy 12:20-21), love (Song of Solomon 1:7), longing for God (Psalms 63:1), rejoicing (Psalms 86:4), knowing (Psalms 139:14), and memory (Lamentations 3:20).

In the New Testament, Jesus spoke of his soul as being "exceedingly sorrowful" (Matthew 26:38). Mary, the mother of Jesus, proclaimed that her soul "magnifies the Lord" (Luke 1:46). John prayed that Gaius would "prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers" (3 John 2).
(from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Copyright © 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers)

Regarding soul referring to life in the physical body. This involves the ability to breath which is needed for our physical bodies.

Thank you for helping me laugh, but I instead use a bible study software program. Hopefully a bible study software program is not intimidating. Regarding Revelation chapter 20. Has the devil in the last number of years ever been locked up so that the devil or Satan can not deceive humanity for a 1,000 year period of time? Then there would be no wars with people living longer and at least a Christ like mindset for humanity.

    Revelation 20:1-3
1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. (NIV)

I don't think I'd do well in this category. I'll take the lake of fire for $1000 please, probably a thousand years, that's ok with me. The flaming sword turning every way, keeping the tree of life is probably there.

You still are not making a point Mark. I know the scripture.

A very good example of a religious person closing his eyes when reading scriptures that are not in harmony with his religious beliefs. This part of Revelation 20:11-15 is after Revelation 20:1-6 with the 1,000 year period with Jesus Christ being assisted by his followers or those in Christ who were raised from the dead. This assistance might even be the authority to judge.

    Revelation 20:4-6

4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. (NIV)

  6. Revelation 20:11-15

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.   (NIV)

Most people on this forum here can read all the words of the scriptures, without closing their eyes with certain words, for example the words dead, judged or death. It looks to me like the person sitting on the great white throne, while judging will be and is Jesus Christ. One problem though with me is that I do NOT have a special religious title of Reverend or in the 1st century Pharisee or Sadducee. However, I can at least read all the words of the scriptures without needing to close my eyes with certain words.

    Well hell....

I think all the people were raised when Jesus Christ was raised or right after that. Then we each are resurrected after we die.

Do people sometimes think that people who started wars so that they could make money or people that committed crimes so that they could also make money were resurrected after death also? The following verses show judgement with people being judged favorably and being in the book of life. Also people judged unfavorably and being thrown or placed in the lake of fire. The Greek word for fire is "puros", which represents spiritual from God and that includes the judgement of God.

    Revelation 20:12-15
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire (puros). (New International Version)

  8. Hell is simply the grave or the place of the dead. For example, there are NO usages of the word hell for the Old Testament in most newer versions of the bible. Instead the Hebrew Old Testament word with English letters spelled as "sheol" or "sheowl" is primarily translated as "the grave". For example, the New International Version (NIV®) for 1984 does not have any usages of the word “hell” in the entire Old Testament. The following is a link to a TRUTHFUL teaching about the FALSE concept of hell.

Mark... have you learned anything over the past decades?

FEAR is what you are promoting with all your guesswork.

If it's not the goodness of
God that is promoted then I don't have much time for it.

I'm here to tell you that there is life after death, immediately after death.

Because of your religious beliefs, you want to ignore what other people have learned from the bible. When you say FEAR is what you are promoting. NO, I do NOT believe in the ERRANT religious theology of eternal torment for people in their earthly lives who did not see Jesus Christ as their Lord. The EXACT OPPOSITE is true. I have NEVER promoted this false religious theology and I have been working to teach people that God is a God of love and not hateful. My goal is that Christians should see that Jesus Christ is the loving and NOT hateful savior of humanity. At least one of the Christian denominations believe in eternal torment. The Baptist church and I live next to a Berean Baptist church building that has a good size building and a parking lot. The following is a link to a web site about this.

    https://faith.edu/faith-news/evangelicals-and-the-doctrine-of-eternal-punishment/

  10. Christians often have more deception today than they did with the original creation of humanity. Sometimes Christian organizations or denominations do NOT believe in death, but instead teach that most people go to hell with eternal torment and only some people go to heaven to be with God. This relates to the mythology or myths of hell. I wonder if the priority for people going to heaven after they breath their last physical breath is being part of their denomination???  Instead, the bible teaches that there will be two resurrections of the dead, as taught in the book of Revelation, chapter 20.  The first resurrection is to be with Christ while being part of the 1000 year period. Then the second Resurrection of judgement. People that did not commit crimes in their lives will be judged more favorably than people who committed crimes and perhaps were never even charged for their crime.

    Revelation 20:12-15
12 And I saw the dead (nekros), small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell (hades or the grave) delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell (hades or the grave) were cast into the lake of fire (puros). This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (puros). (KJV)

The final chapters of the book of Revelation gives some thoughts or perhaps even detail about the new heaven and earth and the book of life for humanity.

In addition, a Christian Ministry a few miles north of Dallas, Texas that has a web site which they teach from has the following teaching about this subject.

Do We Go to Heaven When We Die?
by Andy Burnett and Erik Jones
What actually happens when we die? Do Christians go to heaven after death? Or maybe—the other place? What the Bible says happens after death may surprise you.

You guys and girls know the doctrine of the second coming and all that involves, people go to sleep when they die and don't wake up until Christ comes back, deal.

I don't think that is true in any part of it. I believe all the scriptures that are said to support the second coming theory actually support the idea that the dead are alive now.

I do not recommend believing the first deception spoken to humanity by the serpent or the devil. In quoting from the book, "Our Loving Savior Jesus Christ", near the beginning of the chapter, "When Will the Dead Be Made Alive Through Jesus Christ?"

    Quote

The first example of deception is read in Genesis 3:1-6. Here the devil as a spiritual being is symbolically referred to as a serpent, which is a crawling large snake or reptile. Before this in Genesis 2:15, God put man in the garden “to work it and take care of it.” (NIV®) This was likely both physical and spiritual since death had not yet arrived for Adam. Adam had the free will ability to do what he thought he needed or wanted to do. In Genesis 2:16-17, after creating the world including agriculture, animals and mankind. God told Adam that he was “free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die” (NIV®). This commandment by God was given as a test to Adam of his obedience to God the creator with proof that Adam was dependent of or needed God. This accountability to God was humanity following God regarding the knowledge of good and evil instead of humanity not relying on God, while trying to determine all without God’s help. Next begins the deception.

    Genesis 3:4-5

4 And the serpent said to the woman, Ye will not certainly die;  5 but God knows that in the day ye eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and ye will be as God, knowing good and evil.  (Darby)

The devil, seen as a serpent, deceptively said to the newly created woman called Eve that you won’t die when you do something that God previously told Adam not to do. The woman did not agree with the serpent at first. However, since the devil can be described as the God of deception, got her to ignore the word of God, while instead following what the serpent said to do. This was trying to figure everything out for yourself without God’s help of the knowledge of good compared to evil. Then Eve talked Adam into following the same deception. The result was a physical decay of humanity with death to follow. Or as Genesis 3:19 symbolically states, “For dust thou art; and unto dust shalt thou return.” (Darby)

I recently had a hard disk crash.  It seems something really did get through my anti-virus and completely wiped my hard disk.  And I hadn't backed up regularly enough and had to spend a lot of time reconstructing worksheets, etc - as well as which, there is information that I really did want, that is now lost forever.  Bummer.  Cost me no small amount to get my computer back up and running again.

For file saving security the way I double check this potential problem with a computer bad crash. I save my computer files in a small USB flash drive. This USB small device can save many files and is small so that it can be placed in a pocket and be with you where ever you go. For example, I used or use four computer software programs to write and author my biblical teaching book, Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator for the graphics and Microsoft Excel to help organize the scripture index at the end of the book. Then after typing the files with editing also, I save them in a USB flash drive and then was able to transfer the files to another of the three primary computers that I currently use. We get much more help from technology than they got in the first century when the New Testament was first written. For example, when a physician Luke hand wrote the gospel of Luke and book of Acts and made a small spelling error. Did he have an eraser to erase the spelling error and then hand write the correct spelling? Or did he need to cross out the misspelled word and hand write the correct spelling? Therefore they needed more help from our heavenly Father to write the original New Testament and Old Testament. Luke also likely got help from a very knowledgeable Paul who received  revelation from Jesus Christ to write his epistles. In the book of Acts, Paul is mentioned by far the most amount of times compared to other writings of the New Testament. For example, using my very good bible study software program which I give credit to in the first two pages that has copy right information. Paul is mentioned from the New King James Version 127 times of the 156 times that Paul is mentioned in the New Testament. Using math this shows 81.4%.

  16. This band, especially the singer is really good at barking and growling. Hopefully they are also good at wagging their tails, especially the singer. My advise to them is "wag more, bark less". I use this figurative wording in one of the chapters of my biblical teaching book named "Lordship of Jesus Christ Contrasting the Lordship of Imperfect Man". I originally wrote the first draft of this chapter years ago as I was leaving TWI.

    Quote

Paul, Peter, John, Timothy, Titus, or any of the other followers and laborers of Christ are ever called lord in the New Testament. They were never given the title Reverend, thus separating them from other believers. In fact, the word reverend is never used in the New Testament in any versions of the bible that are quoted from in this book. The only usage of the word reverend is in Psalms 111:9 from the (KJV) and (ASV). This usage exalts the Lord God. However, this Hebrew word with 328 usages in the Old Testament as represented by Strong’s OT:3372 is mostly used in a negative way and is often translated as fear, feared, afraid or terrible. I wonder, should we fear a person with the title Reverend? Perhaps only if they have a security guard who is big and strong. I could simply tell them to please be peaceful and follow the example of Jesus Christ. I might even tell them to wag more, bark less, while really liking dogs. When I meet dogs, I often want to pet them, as long as they wag their tales and don’t bark.

wierwille asserts the image and likeness of God is spirit from verses like   Genesis 1:26, 27   However there are passages written after the fall of humankind which indicate man still retains the image and likeness of God – though in light of sin that image is now tarnished   Genesis 9:6     James 3:9

Humanity can be the image of God after death is destroyed and humanity bows down to Jesus Christ and sees Jesus in a favorable way as Lord and someone to follow with the same or at least a similar loving mindset. More detail for this is read in 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. Regarding God's love, this is read in 1 Corinthians, chapter 13.

    Quote

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.   (New International Version)

    A. in effect, wierwille replaces Jesus Christ as the high priest; high priest is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.

In essence that is what I heard in the late 1970s while listening to a tape from a Sunday teaching by VPW. As I remember, VPW said that he agreed with the Roman Catholic Church regarding the religious belief that the Pope was the Vicar of Christ. In practical application, while VPW was the leader of TWI, VPW also saw himself as the earthly representative of Christ and as "the teacher" instead of  "a teacher", as I remember from the Power for Abundant Living class. However, at least most of and perhaps all of his books don't have that hierarchical and errant teaching.

  19. Using figurative language, wag or purr more, bark or growl less as dogs and cats can do. Regarding hopefully at least, a not controversial subject of free will for humanity as quoted from the book, "Our Loving Savior Jesus Christ", is the following in chapter 11, named "1 Corinthians 14 Prophecy to Edify the Church":

    Quote

    1 Corinthians 14:32-33
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.  (KJV)

It should be clear that followers of Jesus Christ that include prophets are not puppets on a string with God controlling everything that we do. In contrast, the God of this world Satan and his demons try to get people to be puppets on a string through deception, greed, anger and hatred. God instead gives his followers the free will ability to control what we decide to do because God, especially as seen through his Son Jesus Christ, is a God of peace and unity among followers of Christ. Churches should also reflect this same character of God with peace, love and the other fruit of God’s Spirit as seen in Galatians 5:22. The glorification of individual people, including ourselves, should not be what motivates followers of Jesus Christ, instead a motivation to serve the body of Christ.

The really good news(which is rarely preached or believed) is that Jesus Christ has been tasked with reconciling all of creation unto himself, and thereby to God. He always does the Father’s will, so we can rest assured he will not leave us hanging.

In the grand scheme of things therefore, no matter what ‘flavor’ of Christianity we end up with(or without), God’s loving arms are long enough and strong enough to catch us and hold us close.

Very good and I give you a grade of A for your post. However, God and Jesus Christ could instead give you a grade of A+. That is God's goal through his Son Jesus Christ to reconcile all, especially all of humanity under Jesus Christ his Son. And the biblical teaching book, Our Loving Savior Jesus Christ, that I wrote points this out perhaps as the main theme of the book. As an example in quoting from this book is the following in chapter 12 named "1 Corinthians 15 Resurrection from the Dead Through Jesus Christ ".

    Quote

    1 Corinthians 15:24-28
24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies (echthros) under his feet. 26 The last enemy (echthros) to be destroyed is death. 27 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.  (NIV®)

God has delegated all things pertaining to spiritual authority and lordship under Jesus Christ his Son. When Jesus Christ finally reaches his goal of all under his authority and rulership, then Jesus Christ will turn back this authority to God his Father, so that God may be all in all, while having a godly moral character, with obedience to God. The original Greek word for enemy, which is (echthros) or Strong’s number 2190 is used 32 times in the New Testament. It is a negative hateful word. However, there are usages of this same Greek word as stated by Jesus Christ that says to even “love your enemies (echthros)” (ASV). This is seen in Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:27 and Luke 6:35. The same usage of enemy is also in Romans 12:20, “If therefore thine enemy (echthros) should hunger, feed him; if he should thirst, give him drink;” (Darby). In Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”. (NIV®)

That is good that the commentary of Colossians 1:27, which I have quoted from below, understands that “Christ in you” represents the Spirit of Christ, which according to Romans 8:9, also represents the “Spirit of God”, which also can be called the “Holy Spirit” which we know was first given on the day of Pentecost according to Acts 2:1-4. 1. He preached Christ, as the only Saviour of sinners.
    2. He proclaimed this Christ as being in them; for the design of the Gospel is to put men in possession of the Spirit and power of Christ, to make them partakers of the divine nature, and thus prepare them for an eternal union with himself. Should it be said that the preposition en should be translated among, it amounts to the same; for Christ was among them, to enlighten, quicken, purify, and refine them, and this he could not do without dwelling in them.
    3. He preached this present and indwelling Christ as the hope of glory; for no man could rationally hope for glory who had not the pardon of his sins, and whose nature was not sanctified; and none could have pardon but through the blood of his cross; and none could have glorification but through the indwelling, sanctifying Spirit of Christ.

    Romans 8:9-11
9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.  (NIV)

    Acts 1:4-8
4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." 6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  (NIV)

    Acts 2:1-4
2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.  (NIV)
