Over about the last week we received almost an additional 2 ft in snow. It was fresh and very powdery. We have a half a mile dirt road that leads out to a 3 mile long rock road. The half mile road to get to our cabin was at least 2 feet deep in powder, it had not been plowed and we had to put the truck in 4 wheel low to get to our place. Our 300ft driveway we kept clear. So we hitched up a rope on the ball on the back of truck and left about 20 ft space and tied the other end to the sled and pulled our 12 year old son and his friend on down the road. The kids were up on their knees on the sled, play fighting like they were in a James Bond movie and falling all over the road and then running to catch up with sled and jumping back on. We were not going fast of course but it was the funnest time I had sledding and I only drove the truck ....... It was just a fun time with the kids ......... made me want to be a kid again. Just something fun done with the kiddo this winter. Wondering what everyone else does for winter fun ......... we don't want cabin fever again this yearl. Digi

1. There is a difference between not being able to speak in tongues ..... we were taught not able because you weren't saved. and 2. Not being instructed enough to speak in tongues ..... we were taught saved but not had complete instruction in speaking in tongues This is my understanding from PFAL ...... although later in the years, if a TWI leader deemed you had significant instruction to SIT and you still did not show outward manifestation of SIT then you would revert back to the number 1 category above regardless if you were saved or not, which of course GOD would be the expert on knowing who was filled with holy spirit and who wasn't regardless if they were nervous or unsure of SIT. In Craiggers foundational class SIT snuck up on the students and hit you like a rock ....... I noticed it was easier for students of VPWs PFAL to SIT than Craiggers WAP to SIT. I still wonder if all my SITs was Godly or not ........ was I liking a sounding brass ..... I don't know.. I wonder how many thought that at the time they were trying to learn vs years later or after they had already SITs. Digi

Chas I am with you on this Christmas thing. We still have one child at home so we do a little on Christmas Day. The older two who have moved out know the real deal. Wait to shop for what you want between Dec 26 and Jan 1st ............ you get at least thrice your monies worth and can purchase some of your needs and wants. For the past couple of years ....... we don't spend thousands of dollars like we once did for Christmas. The kiddo gets a couple gifts from mom and dad and then there are gift certificates from favorite shopping places to the youngest kiddo and the two elder ones and for hubby and I. We shop after the holiday and have a great time when the stores aren't so busy. Happy After Holiday Digi

I believe he still has his hand in TWI. His sexual affairs were no surprise to the BOT and upper leaders in TWI in my opinion. People knew, I even wondered about him after seeing AOS. The BOT were just irritated that they had so much damage control to do over it. Not that he had hurt people in TWI but the damage control was financial to them ..... thus get him out of sight for awhile. Yeah ...... if his books are still being sold ........ he is still being sold ........ he will be back someday if you ask me ........ all forgiven and he and his wife will be back together for viewing entertainment and some sob story about how he had to work his whole life out and it took a few years but he is back. I know of a couple of great fellowships in the UK ....... people who used to be TWI who still fellowship together and have truly set up there own system of doing thins. Truly self supporting, self governing and the people are able to meet the needs of the people ......... because there truly isn't a complex hierchy of BS standing in there way. They have nothing to do with Chris Gear or TWI and thus work great together. Gear is off in his own world in Europe doing his own thing. I believe he is still in Ireland. Digi

Welcome Thin Lizzy, I find your insight on the ministry intresting. Every Quote you made I wanted to comment on has already been commented on by others here in the forums. I guess I got here a bit late, but my friends here at GSCafe are sharp. I guess what I would like to tell you is that as you know those who hurt you have suffered like you had. I know those who hurt me, my husband, children and broke off a relationship with me and my sister for the past decade have not reformed and are still part of TWI and if they can't come to grips with making amends with there brethren in the past the future brethren are still going to hear there lies, insults and innuendos about the past brethren and why they are not here any longer. You see, it isn't available for everyone to come back ..... some people just know way to much and IMHO TWI can't handle it. There are no apologies to any of us. To apologize is to admit you were wrong, and then to ask for forgiveness is to start a new way of life with your brethren. Its simple, its easy and if the ministry really wanted to clean up it would start apologizing and making amends with its brethren, that would be the biblical thing to do. There are thousands of us out here that have never so much as had a simple "Im Sorry, we messed up, would you like to help us rebuild." TWI does not get off that easy, they worked against Gods people and its simply brush the dust of my feet and keep on walking. There are other great people to fellowship with in Gods word. TWI may be a foundational church for some and if thats what your thankful for thats fine, but there are times when churches get corrupt and/or stagnet and then its time to move on to those who still want to learn. No one church knows everything ....... or no one body of believers. Its kind of Ironic that I am thankful to those people of TWI who taught me to think for myself and how to read and study my bible thats what drew me to TWI in the first place ........... the ironic part comes in that it was also teaching me how to read and study my bible that I knew how far gone TWI was and it was time to walk away as well. Keep it simple ....... apologize, ask your brother to forgive you and move on. If you can't do this you are wrong. Digi

What might be understandable is getting together people who have a true love for God, his word, his son and his people .......... those people whose believing is simple and loving without condemnation. Because someone was Corps doesn't mean they have it all together, and honestly I think the corps are some of the most hurt people I know, what they had to endure was hard and not all endured it well. Just a note .......... if you want to share the word you can't only look to the Corps to do it, thats being a repector of persons to think the ex corps might be able to be fixed to share the word to those who were not corps. Does the corps have more knowledge of the truth than the common man or woman who believes in Gods word. I don't think so. Most of what was learned had to be unlearned no matter what stage of TWI you were in. My Honest Opinion ................. Start Fresh

Johny you nailed ....... I had to pass this one on to my friends. A few more. I have moose nugget pencils. I know a woman who hip shot a moose in her stables with a .22 rifle and killed it. The mosquito is our national bird. Fresh scent bug dope is brought out for company. We end up with an 8 ft snow burm by the end of winter and our driveway looks like a tunnel. During the winter months we quickly pass by or stay clear of those vehicles with out of state license plates. Not only do you know one pot grower you have at least one felon living within a mile radius of your house. Can split wood faster with an axe than with an electric wood splitter We have only two seasons ....... winter and construction. Digi

We are in our cabin for this Thanksgiving and are oven is apartment size. So we are only cooking an 11 pound turkey this year. I usually do as Sudo does and utilize a cook in the bag, but this year I am doing the roasting pan method slow cook at 275 degree until done and as usual stuffing it with oyster stuffing. Love the oyster stuffing. We also cook a roast of buffalo every holiday now. Only because we have a buffalo farm not far from us. Its really good ......... we cook it like you would prime rib with lots of salt pepper and garlic ..... and of course horseradish on the side. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone Digi

As a parent who has had one son go through the rebel years and a daughter just finishing up the rebel years, I think this is great ........ humiliation goes both directions, if you can dish it out the teen better be able to take it ...... as parents in an ever changing world we must come up with new ideas to get through to our adolescent grown ups .... I think the mother from Oaklaohoma City is quite inventive. Krys ......... I agree there are sensitive issues we discuss with our children. Some issues lead to things we just don't want to have to deal with but we must as parents. Talking to them about their adoption, helping them get through the pains of that is a challenge I am sure, but you wouldn't have turned to them and have told them maybe it would have been better if your bio parents had aborted you instead of my adopting you. I still don't think a mother should ever tell a child they should have aborted them in any situation or under any circumstances especially with the child already here in this world and now 24 years old with physical and mental handicaps. That is alot to put on someone who is healthy let alone dealing with the girl is dealing with. That is telling your kid you should have killed them instead, that you are better off dead. Parents don't do that. Who knows when the mother contracted Rubella before or in midstream of her pregnancy? 24 years have passed by, finding out the truth of this matter seeing as it wasn't caught immediately is going to be hard. Maybe mom didn't even go into the pregnancy with Rubella, contracted after she was already pregnant, its hard to tell now, thats what I am saying. In finding out she had Rubella she should have handled the situation then. Got a second opinion from another doctor, maybe she was even advised to do this, maybe she wasn't, but you don't tell your kid you should have aborted them. Giving your unstable child fuel for a fire they can't handle as a parent is a horrible thing to do. Digi

Thanks DM for the report ...... really appreciate it. Called our friends who are in state now ...... there parents property is in the mountains at about 3000ft above sea level. But my girlfriends sister is in Tokyo ... her condo is on the 9th story. All there family is well. Thank Krys for posting this, when I called our friends they hadn't even known about the quake or tsunamis and were thankful for the news to call home. Digi

Absolutely hope and pray. I have seen pictures of what the two Tsunamis that hit Alaska back in 1964 the destruction and devistation from that was probably worse than what the quake did. Johny, All of us should be so lucky to have a friend like you. One who is truly willing to listen without condemnation. One who is trying to understand. Someone to hold your hand along your dark and dreary path to help bring you back to the light. Gods word does wonders via our savior Jesus Christ. I often find that Iam giving people the word without quoting scripture. Just by the simplicity in words spoken and how we live our everyday life. That will shine through in you for your friend, for some reason I am sure of that. I never say I am sure of anything anymore, so I am surprising myself here. There will be professionals to help Terry and Ally come to terms with this. It may happen sooner than later, then again it may take a life time. Only God truly knows. You are already doing all you can do. We are from the same state and I don't know you, but your heart comes through in this post and I am happy to share Alaska with you. The only advice I would give in this situation is, God Bless, keep on being her friend, she might find she wants a woman to talk to ......... some things are hard for women to talk to men about then on the other hand some times, some women, find it easier to talk to a man. Be wary of being her savior in her eyes, sounds like she has had it kind of rough with men and will easily cling to a man, but of course still remain her friend because she definately needs a good one right now. I find it interesting that Densmore is battling with Manzarek and Kreiger because he didn't start with the band in the very beginning, originally it was just the three Morrison, Manzarek and Kreiger. I always believed that Kreiger was very talented, not just on guitar, but he wrote several of there songs that hit the charts "Love me Two Times" was written by Kreiger. This doctor may have told the mother that there could be complications with the child physically or mentally and that he has no way of determining or diagnosing what those complications might be with the baby. It is also possible that there might have been no side effects to the child. You can't tell if a child is going to be blind or deaf by an amnio .......... and in many cases you can not tell if they will be mentally ill either. Very few cases can be detected by amnio .......... Down Syndrome and Trisomy 13 can be detected by amnio and have been able to do so for approximately the last 20 years. But are often not caught until second trimester even in this day and time. I can't say the doctor is right or wrong, I wasn't there. I am just saying that even if all he told the mother that there could be possible complications with the baby mentally or physically and that there is real no way of knowing what the outcome will be ........... he is still accurate ......... and the mother still chose to have the child. I believe in hindsight ............ its possible the mother blamed the doctor because the daughter came out in a bad case scenerio and not what she had hoped for which was the daughter would be fine which was a possibility or that it would be a minor defect that would be easily worked with out of love .......... the mothers hatred or blame for the doctor over the years probably esculated to the daughters hatred and blame of the doctor and thus lets sue the doctor 24 years later. Her mother obviously loved her enough to have her ............. I think it horrible that a mother, under her daughters circumstances, would tell her daughter that had she had known she would be this sick she would have aborted her. Thats not what you tell a child ever, under any circumstances in my mind, especially because she was already there born and grown ........... so if she ends up eventually suing her mother, who made the choice to go ahead and give birth to her daughter and later told a physically and mentally handicapped loved one she should have aborted her ..... well I say go for it .............sue your mother (even tho it probably will go no where) ....... but ......... maybe it will teach this mom to watch what she says to her daughter because it just might make matters worse ...... the mother should have loved her and comforted her no matter how hard the situation. Never Never Never do you tell one of your children I should have aborted you. Thats what caused this whole mess in this handicapped daughters mind in my opinion. I would love to see the outcome of this case. Its sad because the Doctor will probably win. The daughter will be drug through the wringer in a possible trial hearing all because mom told her daughter she chose not to abort when she believes she should have, after the fact. Hindsight is 20/20 but probably not the docs fault in this case. This world is getting more interesting all the time Digi

During the Ice Age Horses and Onagers were eaten regularly. Thus the reason North America had no horses. They were said to have been in North America, but them being docile animals and herdable to run off a cliff, they were eaten to extinction in North America. The Europeans/Asians/Africans also ate horse until someone figured out that they had a much grander use for transportation and hunting other animals. Thousands of years ago horses were kept and trained for these purposes instead of used as food. Auroch (cattle) were much tastier and fatter, they used horses to hunt these and other animals instead. I am a owner/rider and believe horses are like dogs. They are pets and family animals, not to be eaten. There value in hunting is amazing. I have eaten moose, caribou, oyster, squid, octopus, shark, rattle snake but never horse Digi
