Dooj, It sounds like you did the apartment in monochromatic kind of coloring. I love that look for my clothing etc. I also love it for floral design, it even gives a home a nice clean clear spacious look and is probably the best idea for a cabin seeing as they are small living quarters but its just the 3 of us here. But I also like brilliant colors as well and thought about for the first time doing an alaskan theme because the cabin will be used for company later on. I just can't seem to make up my mind on it now. We are dark in the winter here and light in the summers but the winters last longer. I only have two room and a bathroom to deco you would think I could make up my mind. But throwing in the same hues like you did to open up the space got me to thinking. The most beautiful thing about living here on our acerage is the views out our windows ... we are up on a knoll on this end of our property and can see the beautiful mountains that surround us. The trees of our forest the creek or brook that runs through the northeast corner of the property. Every window we look out is like divine art from God. If I were a painter or someon who could draw .......... I would spend my days doing this, painting my natural scenery for its truly Divine Art ....... Gods art that surrounds me. Its the best there is .... doesn't come any better. Its why we decided to live in our cabin why we are building on this spot ........ its just beautiful out here. Digi

Muzzle breaks and airated barrels are the only way to go with a weapon like that. Stop some of that recoil. That is some piece of hardware. ....... Wow Definately nothing I would use ....... I am looking into Remingtons 700 Ultra Mag and would have the barrel airated (Sp?) for the exta hundred bucks or so. I would not be able to shoot the elephant gun. Break your shoulder, collar bone, knock out an eye absolutely. I wouldn't shoot it unless I had too. Digi

I have to lean towards Rons gross account of weight here. I just looked at purchasing a 700 Ultra Mag for hunting with and took a look at the rounds and they are quite heavy in comparison to my 270 or my 300 ultra mag. The box of rounds for the 700 Ultra Mag amazed me in weight when the clerk handed it to me, the size and weight of a single bullet I don't know exactly but do know that it outweighed any other round that I had. I can go shooting with my 300 ultra mag and knock off a couple of boxes in an hour and those rounds for two boxes must weight 8-10 lbs and I only have 40 rounds in total. Soldiers in war carry much more than 40 rounds on them. You have 200 hundred soldiers with say even 40 rounds, 10 lbs worth each and you have an easy ton. And no where near enough ammo to start anything in a war in my personal opinion. Ammunition rounds can be stored for long periods of time and are quite heavy. Ive do some of my own reloading and even a box of shellls or primer caps etc.. are heavy when purchased in bulk. Digi

WW, Duke is doing great with me right now. Hubby has not been calling Duke to him regular when they are outside together so he is letting Duke kind of run the property at all times when they are together. Hubby is going to work on double clap and bringing Duke to him so he doesn't constantly roam about when out with him. Our 12 year old son and Duke are always competing for the attention spot with us. Actually its only the Duke trying to take over in our sons roll and move up in the pack .... our son just has a blast with him and plays with him for the roll. Son always wins .......... but Duke knows the son will get board of mom and walk away to play somewhere else and Duke wil have me back. MaryPoppins how are your beautiful Boxers doing? Chloe is well trained how did you do this? I know you spoil yours like I do mine but you don't seem to have the problems with Chloe like I do Duke. I really like the boxer ........ we had a neighbor when we were in the city who got theres stolen right out there fenced in yard when it was still a pup. It was so sad. Art was and still is to a point a big part of my life, even tho I did pretty much retire than I had ever wanted to or planned on. I can feel in my heart an artful soul .......... art extends far beyond pictures and flowers and interior design . Dooj I have in the past truly enjoyed convesation with you at chat and would like to be able to continue that relationship. Please understand we are in the middle of living in our cabin on our acreage and most of my possessions are in storage. Hubby has gone to storage 3 times this past two weeks to get out things that we needed along with things I needed to send of to the UK. It was very kind of him to offer to dig thru eons of boxes on his first day back to work from the holidays. Well Shell and Dove, My decision for one day has not lasted, I guess I am not great at keeping a resolution of this sort .............. I find myself being a bit hurt and disapointed right now.. Regardless I am going to try to just get over my hurt and disapointment and move on today. ....... I think I'll go for a walk though ...... we don't have an around the block but I have a half mile road I live on to make it to the rock road. The road is covered in snow and ice now we could ice skate it. Its quiet no one else lives on it and its a peaceful, beautiful walk. Lots of snow on the tall trees and D always likes trying to find the rabbits and the ptarmigan this time of year because they have turned white and blend into the scenery. When Hubby awakes today he said he would go for a walk with us, so we will wait for him. .......It always cheers me up to go for a walk where I live ......... it beautiful here. Doo, Thanks for asking, I do have pics in storage. I was going to offer to put them up but it meant asking my husband to go to storage and get my pics. He said he would be happy to pick them up to share them with you. Storage is closed until Tuesday he will ablige us by stopping in after work to get them. We are living in our Cabin this winter while we build so everything I own is in storage. The kewl thing about just building the cabin is we are now starting the design work on the inside. In Alaska you do all the outdoor building you can do in the summer then you leave all inside work alone until winter. We put in the 300ft drive cleared a large are on a knoll, built the cabin and poured the foundation for the garage, brought in telephone and electric all underground wiring. This is part of what we accomplished this past short summer. We are in the process of designing the inside of our Cabin and making decisions for everything. I want the two main rooms Gunstock Oak Wood flooring (still looking at partial wood subfloor). Stone tile for bathroom and beneath the wood stove (existing a white marble ceramic tile that I don't like anymore) I am headed towards Cabernet Red for my outstanding one color along with my other two being a tan and olive. That gives me my 3 basic colors and my two for design additions I can incorporate in small amounts will definately be Ivory and possibly a bit of Navy. I might change the Navy to Copper who knows. For artwork I am looking for a painting or a pic of an Eagle. I did see a pic at Stephans Fine Arts in Anchorage of an Eagle but if I recall correctly the large pic was around the 5K mark, I will not spend that for a cabin but would love to be able to have a painting similar to this photograph I saw. I just fell in love with it last summer when I saw it and it places a freedom on my heart. The pic was about 4' x 6' too large for the cabin but it came in a smaller version. It was of the head of the eagle only, up close profile view. The eye of the eagle just captured me. I loved Rons painting of the woman with the dark long hair, the friend of his he painted. I also enjoyed your pic Doo of the beautiful young girl laying on the beach towel. Simplicity in the brief look at both of these, puts your heart at ease gives you a calm. Yet in both them you can see the depth of design when you sit back and view. I wished I could see both of these larger and closer. Hubby often reminds me not to spend all the money on the cabin darling we have a house to build. So as we finish the sheetrocking my mind is going crazy with ideas because I know color comes next and wondering should I put Red on one wall in the main room or not ...... I don't like all off white walls. I want color and a warm glo from the fire ....... if you whom paint have any ideas or have seen anything in my color choices or similar I would love to hear the ideas or share a link with me for something you see on the net. WW, That is a classic photo of bathing a dog. I love it. Beatiful blue husky eyes ...... I often see the huskies up here with those sky blue eyes and they have always awed me. I can normally have Duke right next to me then allow him to run ahead on our half mile road about an 1/8 of a mile clap twice and he returns immediately. Of course our road is more like an extended driveway out to another gravel road that is a few miles long and it runs into the highway. But I do think you have a point about the 20ft lead and retaining him a bit more again as a reminder of what he already knows. I don't see any harm in trying this and am going to work on it again. It might just remind him that I am boss and not him. That he doesn't pay the bills in his family pack LOL. I really don't ever want another incident like I had the other day. Scared me to death. I was on the line international at the time and my friend was praying for my dog when hubby went after him first and then I went out after him when hubby returned empty handed. I do not want any more scares of such. Digi

Wow Doo and Ron You both do great work. I am also an artist early retired but still speak as a guest speaker at the university classes here and come out of retirement once or twice a year. I am A Floral Designer and Wedding Planner. I owned my own floral shop for years and finally sold it and went freelance and made great money doing simply wedding work. Most people think that Flowers is a hobby or something easy to do but it is not. I have taught many and few truly have the gift. Some can arrange flowers by copying a picture such as from FTD and make it similar to the picture. This is not an art. It is what most flower shops provide. A Designer has the ability to bring to life that which takes the breath away leaves you in awe and appreciating the art itself. After TWI I let this ability fullfill itself and I was at ease and unhindered and did some of the best work of my life. I still have many call for their special events or occassions. I pic and choose and do an event or two a year now and refer the rest to a friend of mine. But, my ole team loves it when we do get back together for an event. The floral world is much like the painting world ......... colors are important, texture is important, 3 dimensions are important and likewise with so many other similarities. We also get the opportunity to design whole rooms with new decor along with the floral for these events so interior decorating was also part of which I had to learn. Many many themes in the business. Freeindeed, Its amazing that I open up this thread and read what I am reading here from you. I just had two completely seperate conversations this week with both ex twi families about keeping TWI materials and what the use of such materials are to myself and family. When I left TWI I also left God for awhile in a manner of speaking. I boxed up everything we owned from TWI. We had everything in at least duplicate and some things in triplicate. A copy for me, a copy for my husband and a copy for our twig latter fellowship. For years I had boxes of cassette tapes and video tapes boxed up and then started to throw them out. Then one day I opened up a REO Speedwagon case and in there was a TWI tape. I listened and was blessed, truly blessed. It was about FORGIVENESS. At this time I had already found WAYDALE a site we posted and chatted at before GreaseSpotCafe was available to us. The people were diferent back then but some of them are still here from that time who helped me tremendously. Some I just stay in touch with on the sidelines. but If we know we are prone to a certain problem and can admit to that problem not only in our words by lip service but really get it right before God ............ I believe we can concur all. We can decipher between that which is good and that which is bad and God has given us the ability to do that ......... for those who hunger and thirst after righteousnous shall be filled ... Gods word never comes back void .......... Its us as human beings who do with it what we will. I believe that you will know what tapes to toss for you and what tapes to keep. I have tossed many but there are definately some that I have kept. I have kept all my books and syllabi ......... some things I look at some things I don't .......... I know I had to learn how to pray all over again ......... not the vein repittition of thanking God for things we want before we received them, tempting him to make our prayers come true wether or not we knew what was available and setting us up for a downfall as if our believing wasn't big enough because we didn't receive our prayer ......... JC said Give me this day our daily bread ......... he claimed what was available ....... the people in Egypt cried out and the Lord heard there Cry ......... They did not beg in thanks ..... Not to say I don't thank God ....... I do thank him ........ but I don't thank him to give me what I want before I have received it as if tempting God to give it me anylonger ............ I simply ask him and he gives as he desires and has given me many of the desires of my heart ......... and I do thank him for that. You will know for yourself in your own heart the right time for all things ........ and he will put on your heart what you need to do and undo in your own life. I would love to get a copy of this book for other reasons than just how to learn to throw a tomahawk.............. I would love to see how I could or if I can interlink it with some of my research of past civilizations and there ways of life. I have found that even the boyscout book I have of early 70s era is still utilizing very ancient techniques in the wilderness that have been found to be tried and true. Tanning hides is true ............. each animal does have the necessary brain material to tan its hide and if you feel that you need more material you can get it strait from the gut of the beast. Tried and true this is. White leather can be naturally made by soaking it in stale urine after the hide has been dehaired and tanned ....... by the way that would be stale urine from a man not a woman. White leather would have been considered a very valuable piece of artwork, worn only for the best of occassions in mans ancient history, because it actually took more work than just utilizing the urine, also chalky tallow mixture is used. Red ochre was often used to make hides red and red was considered a spiritual color but white held an essence of awe in its own right expecially for the maker of such a garment. I don't know what to say about the throwing of the tomahawk except that I put no spin when aiming for my mark. Digi

I really hate being able to be contacted anywhere at anytime of the day and night. We had 5 cels at one time going, mine, husbands, husbands work, daughters, and sons plus our land line and DSL line on computer and we really got sick and tired of it all. We are down to two cels, land line, and dsl of course. I have learned to turn all off but the land line when we are at home. Just for the peace ......... sometimes I turn the ringer off on the landline .............. I moved to the country for the peace quiet and tranqquility of the surroundings. Technology can be great but it can also be a pain in the arse. Digi

MaryPoppins or should I say BoxerGrrrl ................ I use an Avocado Spray on Duke when I bath him about every 2-4 weeks right now. When its warmer he is bathed every 2 weeks, but with the cold weather we let it go a little further between bathes. Although you have to keep in mind that the black Doberman is naturally endowed with a certain amount of shine, but Duke is by far the shiniest of the 3 dobermans I have owned in my lifetime. RottieGrrl, ..................... Duke is like your Rottie. He loves his attention. My parents are Rottie fans. There first one was named Roxy and she died of Cancer a couple of years ago, so they bought Bruno a male this time. Bruno and Duke played together well this summer ........ both loving there attention. WW, Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my Doberman Duke. He is a wonderful dog and is the third Doberman I have owned in my life. My first Doberman I worked with a professional trainer and he was trained well. The second doberman I trained myself and he was the best of all three as far as obedience. At about 3 yrs he was perfect in every way and he was my only red/brown doberman. Never a problem with him after the age of three. Now Duke is still young. We have overcome his pawing or licking my hands when I am busy doing a task that doesn't include him. He will now lay at my feet and wait until I am ready to tend to him. I read an article on the net that brought back to mind something the original trainer of my first dog had taught me, and that was "Dobermans love attention regardless it be bad or good its attention and thats exactly what they are seeking in any possible way, shape, or form. So I put into effect when Duke would paw or lick my fingers I would make him sit at my feet and stay there until I was ready to acknowledge him. This has worked perfectly and he is very happy once I do acknowledge him and give him his turn. He is a pet and a guard dog, we have 5 acres in which he does patrol nightly right before we go to bed and once in the early hours of the morning. He sleeps indoors of course because we live in Alaska and it is too cold for him to stay outside without exercising his body for more than an hour or so in the winters. Although I have broken him of pawing at me I did have an opportunity just yesterday and for the life of me I can't figure out why this happened. I took Duke outside to use the potty and play a bit and he took off on me. I clapped twice which is his signal to come to me and he flat out ignored me and just ran off. I called him then by name and whistled and he did not return. He was headed off the property. My husband got in the truck and went off to look for him. Couldn't find him. I took my turn to go look seeing as Duke is under voice command with me the majority of the time. I stopped in the local general store/post office and checked to see if anyone had seen him and the owner had told me a customer had just told him of a Doberman running along the highway. Anyway ........ I drove up and down the highway couldn't find my dog .... scared.. I stopped and called back to the cabin and my husband had informed me Duke had come back. This all happened in about 30 minutes or less but seemed like hours. I still can't for the life of me figure why he did not answer to my double clap and come to me immediately. Still perplexed about this one ......... I saw no moose, no lynx, no rabbits nothing that sent him on chase which I still work with him on in his training.
