  1. Did he? You might want to read John 6:63, Mike. I'm not even a Christian but I do believe that I understand the Bible and Christian doctrine better than you do. For that matter, I think I understand Wierwille's teachings better than you do.
  2. I'm no longer a Christian, but I still remember a thing or two about Christian doctrine and the Bible. It's pretty standard Christian doctrine that the Christian Church and individual Christians, whether alive or dead, await the return of Christ. Using "awaiting the return" to mean "dead" may not be unique to TWI but the only people I've ever known to use that terminology are current or former TWI folk. I can see why it would bother ex-TWI folk both because it's "Wayspeak" and because it really doesn't make much sense. Dead Christians don't await the return of Christ any more or any less than living ones. Quibbling over the word "return" is another matter. No matter what particular words are used in the Bible, the concept that Christ will return is Biblical. John 14 and Acts 1 are two examples that immediately come to mind. In the first, Jesus foretells that he will go prepare a place for his followers, and come again (return) to receive them. In Acts, Jesus ascends and angels (or two men in white apparel) foretell that he will "so come [return] in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

    The Cone of Ophelia

It's right here, Raf, in the extensive dossier we have on you.

    The Cone of Ophelia

What Tom didn't say is that, in a secret meeting, GSers decided to appoint you as the official GS scapegoat. From now on, instead of everything bad being Bush's fault, it will be yours. Don't complain. You asked for it. Remember your "blame me" sigs?

    Missing People

That's great! Is she in a shelter or does she have other accomodations? Where? (I was born and grew up in Corpus Christi, and have family there.)

  7. Sure they do. There are two ways. To quote with attribution, like I just did, click on the quote icon at the lower right of the post you want to quote, then edit the text between the "quote" and "/quote" brackets to include only what you want to quote. To simply quote text without attribution, just highlight the text and click on the "Reply" tab at the bottom of the page.

    Evan watch....

Evan, I remember reading something about the possibility that a barge struck the levee, but it was just a sentence or so, with no details, and seemed like pure speculation. What you said makes sense. If that's really what happened, I think it will probably eventually come out.

What do you know that hasn't been reported?

    Katrina the Tsunami

I'm sure it seems that way now, and will for a long time, but that will eventually change. This is a horrible disaster, but people have overcome worse and eventually thrived. You have a hard road ahead, but you'll make it.
  11. Unless both photographers are liars, the captions accurately describe what each saw, and are not indicative of any sort of bias, except perhaps in the minds of some viewers. This sort of thing reminds me of something that happened in my town several years ago. I live in a small college town in East Texas. Some of the avid football fans used to serve watermelon to the high school and college teams after practices on hot days in August. They did that for several years, until a photographer for our local paper took a picture of two college football players enjoying watermelon. They both happened to be black, as were most of the rest of the team. A black professor saw the picture in the newspaper and raised a big stink about racist images. The result was that the fans stopped serving watermelon to players after practices, something the players had enjoyed and appreciated until an overly sensitive (and racist) professor saw racism where there wasn't any.
  12. Psalmie, I have not meant to offend or to cause those feelings. I know what I'm thinking, but I'm doing a poor job of expressing it in an unhurtful way. I apologize.
  13. I hadn't had a thing to do with TWI for almost 15 years by then, Belle.
  14. Can you cite a single example? (I don't mean somebody's house getting missed by a tornado when other houses were hit. That happens all the time, with or without prayer.)

    Katrina the Tsunami

I never heard anyone predict such a thing. I heard predictions of most of the city being flooded, with water levels up to 20'. That wasn't hype. It happened. The rest isn't hype, either. Things really are as bad as they say, and possibly worse. The total number of deaths will be in the thousands and may exceed the 8-12,000 killed by the 1900 Galveston hurricane.
  16. Roy, if you'd drop the "beloved" kiss blowing and such, I'd converse with you on occasion. As it is, I'll just say one thing. On a global scale, a hurricane is a minor event.
  17. Man has figured out how to cook up hurricanes?
  18. Psalmie, I never suggested that you would call any government agencies for any reason. I never thought that you were selfish or suggested that you were selfish. I never questioned or criticized your desires or reasons, which are perfectly clear and understandable. My comments about Shellon's advice were only about that advice, and not about you. I honestly don't understand why you were offended. Anyway, I wish you well, hope you find out about your friend soon, and hope that what you find will be good news. If I come across any information about places you might check, I will post it here.
  19. I agree. You do personally think that.
  20. Well, I've made my thoughts about calling them very clear, so I won't repeat myself. The only reason the url doesn't work is that you put a period on the end of it.
