  1. Well Paw, if you deleted such a post, whatever, but I deny making such a post. :)-->
  2. Zix, there never was such post and you know it. Why are you getting your bowels in an uproar?
  3. True Zix, but then you oughta watch Jerry Springer ;)-->
  4. And Zix, just what BS post was I supposed to have made on July the 4th? I was working all day that day and I didn't have time to come into the GS.
  5. I too liked your teaching Mark. People (who are Christians) here at greasespot tend to have me all wrong. I AM NOT anti-Jesus Christ. I do believe Jesus came with an excellent cause, but a cause that has been grossly misrepresented by the bible. Jesus is not my "lord", for he freed me from such. Is Jesus my saviour?? Yes, he is. I do believe a Lord wants to control people. A saviour on the other hand seeks to free people from the bondage of a lord. Unfortunately we have even made a idol out of Jesus by making him a lord, which is my main lament. It's strange that our former association TWI denies that Jesus is God, because they were definitely making him one. Am I a skeptic? Yes, I'm very skeptical of much of the bible. I am most definitely an agnostic, though my agnosticism doesn't focus on the contraversy of whether or not God exists, but rather what is really happening in life, and the hereafter. Is the bible all THAT holy? No it is not, there are other works of inspiration that have just as much, if not more, weight as the bible. But again Mark, that was a great teaching.
  6. Zix, just what do you find highly offensive???? I have said nothing to give you reason to make that statement. Please refer to the statement in question, otherwise consider yourself one who fabricates false charges against me.
  7. Evan, I said NOTHING that was worthty of being call boorish. If I did then prove it!
  8. Steve, is that anything like how to find out who won the oil wars with a little arithmetic? And I think the answer was 0553, or maybe it was 710-77345.
  9. Zix, I tend to agree with just about everyone else here. I think you are making an unecessary fuss about the contents on these forums. You tend to be touchy at times as evidenced by the disagreements you and I have had. If you are offended at our disrespect towards religion and Christianity (which I feel is justified in my case), I suggest you join Rafi's website and forum. He moderates that board with an iron hand from what I understand and you would feel definitely at home there. I know Rafi would banish me big time, and I really could care less. Like most people agree, this is NOT a Christian board, so I am free to criticize religion and Christianity. Likewise, this is neither an anti-Christian board, so your likes are welcome also to try and (re)convert us. If I were to open a website like greasespot, I would virutally let it go unmoderated and just let everyone have a free for all. Paw has done that to an extent. There's an old saying: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!" I answered flat out NO. The tides do tend to change, but I hope greasespot stays here for the next 40 years.
  10. Good one Dan. They probably will argue whether or not there ever was a Jackie, suggesting an feminine offshoot of Jack (JFK was often called Jack), and that her real name is unknown.
  11. So Oakie, you admit there are divisions amongst us skeptics too, eh :D--> :D--> :D-->
  12. You know, I find all this bickering back and forth about "God is Good" vs "No God is not all Good", or "There is a God" vs "There is no God", etc, etc, etc, cheap entertainment. Now all you fellow skeptics listen up. Why waste your time arguing with these stupid narrow minded bigots? They are hell bent on their ideas and they think they are right and you are wrong. I also got involved in some heated arguements, not only here but also on the Usenet. But I started to get exhausted by the hard headedness of the people, besides I made my point, take it or leave it. Garth, I agree with you. Why would we get upset over someone's notion that H20=water is a falsehood? We know the truth. I think these bigots are scared to death that they might actually be wrong, so they get on the defense. If they are so goddamn convinced, then let them walk in the truth and pay us no mind. I personally am not afraid to be wrong, and in many cases I hope I am wrong. But I don't respect the "in your face" attitude of many Christians. Why don't you Christians just believe what you will and let others believe what they will? Hey guess what???? 2000 years from now people will believe in the resurrection of Elvis, while other's will say it was caca. They will also argue who really shot JFK. Jesus may just actually take a back seat at that point. Well, I'm going to post this and continue reading this thread. GO SKEPTICS!!!!!!!!!!! :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> BOOOOOOOOO BELIEVERS!!!!!!!!!!!! :P--> :P--> :P--> :P--> :P--> :P-->
  13. Hey, you know, skilled magicians can really convince people of doing things that are not real but appear to be. I would have to have known the person in question for a long long time before I were to be convinced of a miracle. I only witnessed one so-called miracle. It was the well publicized story of a man who had one of his eyes put out as a child, then through a temendous miracle, sight came bursting from that eye socket, which only had a glass eye. He would show his "miracle" by covering his good eye with a patch, and then with the glass eye removed and an empty socket showing, could evidently read anything that was given to him. Over the years, I thought about that "miracle", and since he did have a good eye, the whole testimony is not free from scrutiny. It's quite possible he used a magician's prop for a patch, which appeared to be sight blocking, but was actually a see-through patch. Also, VPW, at the '78 ROA, supposedly delivered a baby from polio, or some crippling disorder, and only had the braces to show for it. No acutal miracle was witnessed. Hey, he could have actually bought the brace at a medical suppply store. I too am very skeptical of any "miracle" that is performed now days.
  14. Only one thing missing........The Bubbles!!!!!!
  15. My heart goes out to many of you who have had a lot of fear, TWI induced and before that. I have had a lot of fear in my life too. And when my life is so painful it's hard to bear, I'm under the sensation that death is not going to be a sweet release from it either. Which is what keeps me from doing myself in. (It's strange, TWI taught that death was of the devil, yet they teach that there's no pain or suffering in death, something that I think goes against the grain of the devil's plans) In fact, I sometimes dread that I might end up in a severely worse situation then than I'm in now. (you know, the burn forever in hell ....) It has caused me serious anxiety, and since about the first of the year, I've been having periodic anxiety attacks. In fact I had one last night. That garbage they taught us, I somehow wanted to believe (the part that I'm going to heaven and all hell can't stop me from going), but my inner being was saying it's not realistic. I don't know what circumstance caused me the greater fears, being in TWI, or being free from TWI. My parent church (I was brought up Catholic) really didn't help either. I'm so thankful that we have a greasespot where we can share our feelings and interact with each other.
  16. WayGB? Nahhh, there's no such a thing. There is such a thing as the WayG PeePee now, because that's what they really are IMO, a bunch of useless ....ants who work for Rev. Rubber Butt.
  17. Kit, Are you familiar with the McClatchys of Central Valley California? I think they were bee farmers, and the patriarch is the owner of several TV stations and newspapers in that reigon. All the TV stations have a bee for a trade-mark, and all his newspapers are called "The Bee" ie. Sacramento Bee, Modesto Bee, Fresno Bee, etc. Just curious.
  18. Well, here's my thought on the matter: The only petition TWI has at all, that should Pat lose the case, the only consequence is that Pat would only have to release the domain name. TWI cannot sue Pat for any substantial amount of money unless they can prove beyond all shadows of every doubt that Pat in fact made a substantial profit as a result of the domain name. I agree with Hope, TWI is blowing a lot more money with legal fees than to just pay Pat what he wants to get that domain name. I don't think $15,000 is unreasonable, seeing TWI bilked millions out of people. I'm only sorry I didn't think of it first :D-->
  19. I knew Sandra when she spent her interim year in Laramie, WY. Very wonderful person. Let me know if you touch base with her.
  20. def, I personally have better things to do than to look up. BTW, did Jesus REALLY say that, or is it just a quote falsely attributed to Him? However, Jesus told Thomas that he only believed because he saw. Then He said that those who could believe without seeing were blessed. Taking a cue from that, I say that those who believe, even if it were ever proven that The Resurrection and His Return were both HOAXES, are blessed. Paul of course would say otherwise in Corinthians. The true believers will worship Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH! I sincerely believe the TRUE believers are in the spirit and are not necessarily looking forward to a return. As far as the resurrection is concenced, it never happened. And as far as the return is concerned, that will NEVER happen. And my faith? It's still intact! :)--> And my faith remains without vain! My faith would remain intact even if in fact tradition holds true and Jesus did literally resurrect bodily, and that He bodily will return in spite of my convictions to the contrary. In short, my faith stays one way or the other! :)-->
  21. JESUS H. CHRIST!!! That was a MIRACLE?????? Why that's right up there with the Catholic notion that the priest changes ordinary bread and wine into the literal body and blood of Christ is a miracle, especially when there's NO MANIFESTATION that anything miraculous took place! I've seen better miracles at a good magic show! :D-->
  22. In the Baltimore Sun a few years ago, there was an article about the homeless in the city. Someone had enough money to inaugurate a project that would give free shelter and meals and clothing to the homeless, no strings attached, except I think they were to repent of panhandling perhaps, I don't remember. When he solicited his availability to the homeless, NONE of them were interested!!!! STRANGE???? What was the reason??? PRIDE???? What they do right now is awful shameful by comparison. Or is it the end of their free handouts, and subsequently the end of their wine parties? I would assume a person who is truly hard on his luck would find such an availability an OASIS!
  23. Goey, that's exactly what I'm saying. My heart does go out to those who are truly hard on their luck, but it's hard to determine who is and who is really just a lazy bum. "Lazy Bum Just Wants A Beer" LOL!!!!!! :D--> :D--> :D--> Maybe I oughta try that? :D-->
  24. Well, I too am thankful for GS. When I formally parted company with TWI in 1984, I still had a lot of "waybrain" that needed entertaining, so I found refuge in an unusual televangelist, Dr. G*n* Sc*tt, who was the closest thing to having "twig on TV", even the music was reminicsient (sic) of ROA. However I find he was even more demanding than VPW, especially in the tithe dept.(though he did loathe soliciting from newcomers, something that VPW wasn't above) So I eventually shyed away from him, though unlike VPW, Dr. Sc*tt does has a REAL doctorate, and at least he spoke favorably of Catholics, though he does severely criticize most of his televangelist colleagues (who I thought were worthy of it anyway). One more note, at least Dr. Sc*tt is honest enough to admit he uses the money for his own personal gain, VPW pretended to show monetary humility on the other hand. I hope GS stays around for a long time, much longer than Waydale. Of course if Paw does decide to call it quits, we can always go over to Pat Roberge's website, so we are not without friends around here.
