  1. If you are referring to the fact that I am not responsible for the welfare of the poor, but the rich are, then why didn't docvic give his abundace to the needy? He sure swam in OUR money now, that ol' porker!
  2. CKnapp --Ever heard of _GOING WOW???_ :D--> :D--> dmiller, who the hell drives 50 miles from home without any money and HAS HIS BRAIN WORKING RIGHT? :D--> :D--> :D-->
  3. Some of those hard luck stories are really scams too. One popular one is one is about 50 miles from home, he has a flat and no spare, and needs a few dollars to buy fix a flat. I have had that line fed to me a few times, and I didn't even buy it the first time. (who the hell drives 50 miles from home without any money?). Another one is similar, it usually involves someone who is out of town, and his car's transmission is so fouled up that it can only go into reverse! You have got to be gullable to buy that. Especially when 2 or more pull the same stunt, only they're from different cities. One was from Toledo while another was from Buffalo (NY). I've wised up to that game very quickly. I guess that's why the scam died down after a few years.
  4. Shell, you hit it right on the head! And I for one am basically poor except for that regular paycheck. I would rather give them something to eat rather than money. However a day doesn't seem to go by here in Baltimore without someone begging me for spare change. At one time, I was impressed with those who would shamelessy put a sign saying they are poor. I was so impressed with such humility that I gave the person a few dollars. Then there are those who solicit directly to invidiuals. I've often noticed they beg from some and not others. What is their criteria for a potential "donor"? Maybe they are using it for drugs/booze and are too ashamed to own up to it. As for myself, I was once destitute. But I have NEVER EVER resorted to panhandling. Many large cities have rescue missions and soup kitchens to help the truly destitute. (Why didn't TWI have such programs? Like we all agree they were a profit organization in disguise as a non-prof! Of course nothing needs to be said of the religious giants who would help such people, only for their own personal exploitative gain, sad to say.) I would seek one of those facitlites out first before I would beg. And if I did have to resort to soliciting from the public, I would find a way to do something redeeming for that handout rather than accepting a gift without some sort of reciprocity. I feel the only people who are entitled to ask for alms are those who are physically unable to work. Even then, you might find an occasional deaf mute asking for an alm, but always has something to offer in return (usually a pen, and a card containing the sign language alphabet). The bible does say if a man REFUSES to work, he should not eat. (verse of scripture TWI twisted severely to the offense of innocent people!). I believe one of the reasons the "homeless" resort to one-way begging is because they are turned away from the shelters that can assist them (often because they ask that those seeking help offer to be of some sort of community or other service, in short that four letter word, WORK!). Also much of the blame can actually be put on the rich, who would refuse to hire many people in order to save money (for what reason, so they can put more gold and silver statues in their mansions, and thus flaunt their wealth?). I'm not obligated for the responsibilty of the rich to give the basest people an opportunity to earn their bread rightfully. This is why I more often than any refuse to contribute to the hand that begs. I wished I could offer that person to do something redeeming for a handout, but I'm afraid they would botch up such a responsibility, and believe me if they were responsible I could have them do something for me. Well anyway, my thoughts on this matter.
  5. Rafael, it's possible the Day of the Lord, which I do believe will happen, (which is what Paul referred to rather than "The Return of Christ") may not quite happen according to our expectations, which we often believe we get from the bible. After all, the Jews rejected Jesus as the messiah based on their interpretation of the bible at the time, and what they subsequently expected the messiah to be. As far as facing the Lord, I hope he's a lot cooler than many take him to be. :)--> Perhaps "The Return of Christ" is a misnomer, it should be referred to as "The Appearing of Christ". ;)-->
  6. What about dangerous animals, ie. Lions and Tigers, or even venomous animals like rattlesnakes or black widow spiders?
  7. Mo, were they really "kicked out", or did they really flee voluntarily because of their shame? (of course God was probably pleading with them to stay, but their shame wouldn't let them). Mo, I asssume you have children. Would you kick any of your children out of the house if they do something contrary to your wishes? However children do tend to run away from home. (which is probably what Adam and Eve really did) Just a little food for thought.
  8. Everbody's doin it, doin it doin it Pickin their nose and chewin it, chewin it Tastes like candy but it's really nothing Just a hot shot sundae with a booger on top! :D--> :D--> :D--> :D-->

  10. dmiller, I was obviously talking about a person from India, or at least I think it was obvious. What we used to call Indians here are now called Native Americans.
  11. And I also heard from an Indian philosopher that one's body should be so healthy that he can drink his own pee! EEWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
  12. This begs the next question: Why are we waiting for His return if He is in fact NOT absent?
  13. Well I have 2 DVD ripping software. One is Smart Ripper and the other DVD Decrypter. I like the DVD Decrypter better because the Smart Ripper requires you to first play the DVD using WinDVD or any other DVD playing software to "open" the files. DVD Decrypter on the other hand automatically does this without such said assistance. Chuck's secret signature: Nobody has ever found freedom worshipping a god! I don't need no stinkin' crown! Chuck

  15. Well, I saw the previews on TV and I have tentatively planned to see it. As far as gore is concerned, have any of you seen the miniseries "Kennedy" with Martin Sheen as JFK? In the assassination scene, though not all that gory, the expression on JFK's face (as played by Sheen) as he was hit was very unnerving. So I do plan to brace myself. 20. I don't know if ol' Ben was actually possessed, but I did read in a book about teenage Satanism that Ben Franklin was once a member of a Satanist organization in England known as "The Hellfire Society". Perhaps he just flirted with disaster a little or was just a daring person. After all, who else would have the nerve to fly a kite in the middle of a severe thunderstorm? And many of those who did were often killed! Chuck's secret signature: Nobody has ever found freedom worshipping a god! I don't need no stinkin' crown! Chuck
  21. Rottie, in my own experience, calling out the "Name of Jesus Christ" often provoked the person I was rebuking, and at one time I ended up in an altercation with someone immediately afterwards. I've also heard that it even works on mean dogs. BS!!!!!!. Since when does a dog understand the name of Christ????. And if he hates your smell, forget about calling on the lord, best make a run for it instead. (I'm sure your rottie will also be affected by that name, NOT! :D-->) Chuck's secret signature: Nobody has ever found freedom worshipping a god! I don't need no stinkin' crown! Chuck
