  1. ^^ ROFL! Had a little problem it seems.
  2. I'm really sort of past exposing the way at this stage of my cult recovery. Not to sound too self absorbed, but I have been posting on GSC to sort out my thoughts and beliefs to an extent. Since I started doing that I can say I come here for the connections. I know many folks here personally and love to read their posts and interact with them. Plus those I haven't personally met are top notch as well and certainly add so much insight to things.
  3. Leaving behind a small army of zealots whose only direction is what would wierwille do. <_<
  4. It just goes to show that TWI has never been what they say it was, or is for that matter. It's a sham and one that leads to dependence on an abusive cult. Wierwille has been deified and books like Life Lines and Born Again to Serve are about as elementary as The Peanuts. The STS starting putting me to sleep as soon as Craig wasn't around to keep me awake with his yelling fits that were fit in between his corny jokes. As bad as it was under Craig, it got WAY worse under Rosie. I would rather feed one of my arms to wild dogs than sit through a service again.
  5. I did this often. In fact, in-rez was where I started to wake up. Mainly due to actually working the Bible and taking advantage of the library that was at Gunnison at the time. It had a lot of books that were off limits for the in-rex corps but approved for staffers. I read them anyway - theologies, histories and such. Not to mention actually working through what I had come to believe and noting much of it did not line up with the Bible.
  6. I don't think he ever said it quite that way. However, it is more than implied in present day TWI. We were discouraged from working new topics and sticking with what Wierwille had put together. And we were told flat out on several occasions how much he had gone through in his life's work and we didn't have to do the same things, but rather enjoy the storehouse of truth TWI had accumulated. To paraphrase. Heck, even our study hall time in-rez was limited to working the present truth. We weren't allowed to actually research topics on our own, though those that did were usually scratching their head at TWI's teachings and practices.
  7. ^^ But...but...he researched the bible so we don't have to....
  8. Yep - total BS! People go where it benefits TWI and that is the end of story. How many people have not wanted assignments and were told they needed to go first to see the benefit to themselves. And if you refuse there are always actions taken against you in retribution. I wonder, how is it a group of incompetents hidden away in a board room can know better what's good for a person than what the person knows? Oh ya. God works in them. Benevolent dictators. They know what's best for you but don't abide by the same rules themselves. <_<
  9. You got that right! And we were used up and put away wet when I was out Way D (both times.) Curious how quick TWI is to skirt paying workers to advance their schemes. They prefer people to not be on the payrolls. In fact, I personally heard Rosalie lament during a leadership meeting that she hated all the employer responsibilities that have been regulated over the years. Reason? She prefers for people to be able to give instead of work for money. I'm glad they have been sued repeatedly (for other matters) and scared into compliance. I get a certain satisfaction of the all high and mighty board of directors having to grudgingly submit to real authorities.
  10. This is a real gem as well. I went twice trying to prove the advanced class walk. Spent a lot of time and energy putting the advanced class teachings to the test only to find them void of power and empty on what was promised. Sad to say, not a Christian on this earth needs any of the way international's "frameworks" to snare themselves on. Ya, and logic, pffft. The way uses circular logic very expertly. Get too far from that and logic you will not find.
  11. You got that shizzle right.
  12. Nah, like emperor Palpatine, she prefers the background's shadows.
  13. I learned a lot from you post, thanks! I also like your solution so much I quoted it. I might add, I have had 2 offshoots (back when I was checking them out) tell me how imperative it was to forgive TWI for the damage they inflicted on me. Oh, they cited Jesus' forgiveness of Judas, the bitterness verses above (used the same as TWI used them), cancel the debt verses, how good it would be for me to do so, etc. Of course the underlying emphasis was that I was being unforgiving and bitter. Sorry, the shoe didn't fit. Then it dawned on me. These offshoots can't operate on VPW's legacy if someone has rooted VPW's legacy out of their life. But on the other hand, if you just say everything is alright then it's so much easier to get with the offshoot's program. No thank you. I will let Christ settle the account between me and TWI at the right time. Until then, I will do my utter best to tell what I know as accurately as I can since I spent years promoting this cult. Why should I hide what they do? The offshoots can stand on their own and I have nothing to do with them, except read their spam emails that hit my inbox.
  14. I like that version. I don't like the Lifelines version though, just sayin.
  15. Google is mysterious in it's ways. And therein lies my problem. It's not that he quoted another source - giving credit or not. It's that he takes claim for them based on other's memories of what he said. It's bogus.
  16. I appreciate the thoughtful response. Cheers!
  17. Steve, what do you think this comes from? Personally, my opinion at the moment is that the idea of truth doesn't change is used to promote the idea that what is taught is truth, therefore the teaching doesn't change once "researched" and presented. Either way, it shows some very flawed logic as well as some extreme high mindedness from those that are supposed to lead the example in humility.
  18. I seem to remember being required to read it several times, though I do not remember if it was on the in-rez prep list for required reading. I do remember working the material though. My wife also remembers it being shoved down her gullet as well for various occasions. And....yes....
  19. Not to mention stating it had not been known since the first century church and stating that God had taught him and he took his 3000 reference books to the city dump and stayed in a hotel eating grapes while penning Receiving Holy Spirit Today and.....ok.....did I kill the point yet?
  20. No, I expect nothing less. Today these quotes are mandatory reading in-residence, at least we were required to read them. As if some little spiritual epiphany is at the center of each one and only attained by meditation. Basically, they are treated as "the Word" because they are in a book with wierwille's name on it. Sad to see that most of them were probably ripped off from made for TV movies.
  21. Just a quote used in the all holy book of quotes sold by twi - "Life Lines: Quotations of Victor Paul Wierwille" Oh, the dr said them, so that makes them the spoken word, so no scriptural basis needed.
  22. I have no doubt the prof. learns from his students during sessions such as these. Instead of the lofty "teacher" position inhabited by TWI/offshoot bigwigs. I'm not really into being talked down to anymore.
  23. He ripped off a Brian's song?
