  1. Just saw the 'hanging sox' logo. It's pretty neat-but on their caps ??!!

OK, I'm an old fogey traditionalist who thinks there are some teams that shouldn't mess with the uniform. Yankees, Red ( definately not White) Sox, Dodgers, Giants, have all kept the uniforms pretty much intact, and I admit I like it that way.

If the fans around Boston like it, though, then so be it.

OK, now you've reminded me somehow of Charlie Finley and his aptitude for uniform redecorating.

  2. I'll be the first to say the Yankees need to get younger and more athletic.

or else switch to umpiring...but there's much dough in that!

The Indians have always had a groom-the-young-starts methodology. Then the ones that make it consistently big wind up going to the Yankees or elsewhere.

  3. Well, Few will deny that TWI was a big part of our lives, be it good or bad, even for someone like me who was in only 4 and a half years. If I am the only one who has ever had dreams about their time, then Galveston Bay will get 4 inches of snow in July (Not just December like last night!).

  4. I got my copy and read about half in one day. I couldn't put it down. I'm hoping to get some reading time this weekend so I can finish it.

That's about how I was when I first got it. She wrote her account as she lived it; a main reason IMO the reader can live it also. Of course, covering some of the same events and people partly at the same time and place i was in (8th corps apprentice and first residence year) also helped me understand the reality of what she went through.

  5. It would be interesting to know--how much goes out for medical. I never really thought about it. . . but, I bet it is a bundle!!

Well, I guess that is logical. If you have invested $160 million bucks in someone or something, it is worth a chunk to be sure you can get some return on your investment!

But I won't argue your first point, yea the timing is odd. But that applies to some other asking for dough that's going around these days in and out of the sports world.

  6. The good news is that so far on Amazon, Rita and McKeon were the only two negative reviews out of ten. The others were all supportive and in agreement. Plus those two negative reviews received rebuttals in the comments section.

It's not just the numbers IMO. I don't think I have come across any great discovery when I am talking about the time it takes a person to talk about something traumatic. I think most people outside of the TWI world can understand at least somewhat about why victims of any abuse often don't talk about it right away.

As far as Rita's apparently sarcastic comment about Kristen remembering events in "extreme detail", well, TWI life, no matter how good or bad we think of it, was a big part of most peoples' lives, and I think most of us could remember lots of little details. If Rita thinks Kristen is remembering too much detail to not be making it up, well, just for one for example, regarding that first 8th corps residence year, I could put both Kristen and Rita to shame I am sure with my memory of details of that year (see my not so humble remark on one of my early posts on this thread). But be assured, Kristen does a very good job remembering, and remembers correctly from that year.

  7. Dagdurndabbit, if I ever have me some grandbabies the whole world will know it.

Yea, I've noticed that, whether or not a person is willing to reveal her/his age, there is rarely any hesitation about becoming a grandparent.

    (expecting here, BTW).

  8. Looks like CC is going to be wearing pinstripes while K-rod goes across town. . . . ironic how both teams are now begging the city for money. . . hmmmm

You mean like one of those cash strapped businesses that can't find enough money to pay it's poor workers???

I've often wondered how much people like the team physician and others get.

  9. I have heard that fibromyalgia is sometimes a culprit for hard to diagnose symptoms, though I haven't seen weight loss or fever mentioned in connection with that.

On the other hand, I have seen a few very unfamiliar things uncovered on, I think it's called Mystery Diagnosis, on the Discovery Health Channel. Things that have presumably mystified the best of doctors.

Not bouncing back? Well, if your attitude toward whatever is causing this resembles your attitude to other people and things that cause hurt, it has no chance. :)

  10. "Is it a cult? That's something for each individual to decide."

I like that approach. Or should I say your overall approach. Give your account...what you experienced; what happened to you. IMO That is much better and more effective than lecturing on the evils of cults and mind control.

More effective, at least, with those who have not made up their minds or who don't know. With those who have already been in, and/or someone seeking help, the approach can certainly be different.
