I came in FIRST

I debated bringing this up but I can't restrain myself.

I am a competitive shooter.

I come in second or third in my division almost every event.

Today I came in first.

Yes I am totting my own horn, but I'm happy.

This was a three gun shoot. Two stages with rifle, two with shotgun and two with pistol.

The unusal thing is that pistol is my weak point. Carbine/rifle is my strong piont and that is where I never can get first.

Just had to say something.

See ya

Too cool! You SHOULD toot your horn for this and feel wonderful doing it. You just put a big smile on my face reading your post. I could feel how much it meant to you as I read it and that is a feeling that I think everyone enjoys 'getting a piece of the action' .. if you post and allow them too.

Congrats. I'm a knife person myself and one day may get back into some throwing. Lost my sweet little perfectly balanced 6 inch blade I carried with me everywhere in a move years ago and never had time or money to replace it since.

I was given a bayonet as a birthday present 5 years ago though. It's never been sharpened, I just enjoy it because it's unique. Not every girl has one sitting on her desk. LOL.

Hey there ex70's --- CONGRATS!!!

:eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

I remember (still) the first time I took 1st in a fiddle contest (1994).

Habitually -- I took 2nd, or 3rd, but never first.

Then, the same year, I took first in a Canadian Fiddle contest.

In both contests, I managed to outscore the same guy who always played a *bit smoother than I*.

WTG. :) :)

(dmiller --->> a FIRM BELIEVER that *gun control* = a steady aim!!) ;)

:eusa_clap: I love this! I competed in high school and never placed higher than third but enjoyed it so much!

HA! This is wonderful! yayayayayay!

Hey Shellon ---

My brother was here for that win of mine in 1994.

I did a repeat in 1995, and he had the gall to call our parents

(from MY phone --- no less!), saying;

'You know what?? I came up here one year, and Dave took 3rd.

Next year I came up, and he took 2nd.

Then last year he took 1st.

I came back this year, and he took 1st again.

he didn't get a d@mmmed bit better than the previous year!!!

:biglaugh:

(true story!!!)

ha dmiller! brothers eh?

Part of why I didn't compete further is because my right eye is nearly blind and I had to patch it to shoot and since that often didn't work, my brother would stand behind me and hold his hand over it.

Not safe and not qualifying, but what fun.

But oh my goodness, such joy and greatness for our ex70shouston.

Shellon --- Yea. My brother is a Captain for Delta Airlines.

Back in the early 90's, he made it a point to get time off in August,

for the Old Time Fiddle Contest up here.

He had problems with his marriage then (all worked out now),

but came up here for a week of relaxation back then.

It was a treat to have him here (until he made that phone call!!!)

:biglaugh::realmad::biglaugh:

Ex70's deserves to be congratulated. Sounds like an award well-earned.

Taking first (in competition that means something to you),

isn't always the easiest thing in the world.

But it's REAL SWEET, when it comes your way!. ;)

Ex70's, Congratulations! I knew that you reminded me of my brother. He is also a shooter; he likes the NRA target pistol events. Has some of those weird-handled things that look like Aliens have landed.

The first time he ever met my husband, even though Mr.niKa and I were already married, my brother made it a point to show off his guns. It was a pure Texas moment.

My brother also lived in the Houson area for a time; I'll bet that you knew one another.

Again, congratulations. Few people realize how time consuming and expensive a hobby that really is; it takes commitment on a few different levels. Well Done!

I thought that "Gun Control" meant "using BOTH hands"
