I was still in high school when it happened. I remember spending a math class talking about it. Our teacher was really bothered by it.

I was more worried about my brother-in-law getting back.

I also remember anyone who got in trouble with the law had a very quick out. You appear before the judge and he would ask army or jail. I never knew anyone who chose jail. The parents would sign an age waver and off to Vietnam you would go. In the back of each year of my high school annual was a list of those killed over there.

Every friday Walter Kronkit would list American dead, South Vietnamies dead, and VC/North Vietnamize killed.

I only remember one friend that was killed over there. Carver Vaughn. He jumped off a tank and landed on a mine.
