Any chance this was "2 Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place"?

Having not watched that show, I don't know whether or not it fits my clues. It is not the one I had in mind.

This show starred three men and one woman. It is the woman who has had the successful post-X TV career.

This popular 90's show had four main stars (three men and one woman).

One of them has not had another series.

Two of them had very short-lived series.

The woman has actually had two fairly successful series (one current).

The show was Nielsen ranked #1 or #2 every year from 1994 to 1990.

An episode, "The Contest" was TV Guide's #1 episode of all time.

This show was very popular. I thought my last clue would have given it away. I'll change one of the clues, to make it even more obvious:

This popular 90's show had four main stars (three men and one woman).

The one for whom the show was named has not had another series.

Two of them had very short-lived series.

The woman has actually had two fairly successful series (one current).

The show was Nielsen ranked #1 or #2 every year from 1994 to 1990.

An episode, "The Contest" was TV Guide's #1 episode of all time.

Ok, that's "SEINFELD."

Jerry hasn't had another series. Jason Alexander and Michael Richards

each had something for about a minute.

Julia Louise-Dreyfus has "the New Adventures of Old Christine" and

I don't know the other.

BTW, George later admitted he lied when he won the contest.

This show had 3 incarnations, all with the same title (more or less).

A) It started airing March 1, 1949 and finished a second season despite

the host/founder's death (and despite his name being on the show!)

B) It aired 1982 to 1986, with Jack Palance hosting. It ran in syndication

in the 1990s on cable as well.

C) It aired 2000-2003 (plus syndication) with Dean Cain hosting.

Partial descriptions of the shows:

B) "...this show looked at the people, places and events that made up the stranger side of human history. Subjects have included Nikola Tesla, The Bermuda Triangle, The Elephant Man, and Mad King Ludwig. "

C) "...usually simply introduces the topics shown in the various, rather short film sequences shot all over the world, in addition to which some weird facts (e.g. absurd laws) can be quickly reviewed. Each report -usually independent, follow-up is rare- is on something very unusual, surprising and/or spectacular, such as inventions, stunts and records, freak creatures and - accidents..."

Seriously, someone did an animated series for kids in 1998?

"They're seeking mystery, collecting strange and disturbing facts through the Web and the international press as well as in uncle Bob's huge library and collection. Living in the beautiful island of Bion, they're always ready to take off for faraway destinations to investigate a case, solve a mystery or just meet strange people with strange traditions...."

This 60's sitcom lasted for 7 seasons. In it's third year, several cast members were used to spin-off a new series. Characters from both series regularly starred on each other's shows. One of the actors from the original sitcom became the only actor to ever play the same character in 3 different television series simultaneously.

Two of the original cast members who were married on the sitcom in one episode, were actually married in real life several months later.

This show was originally to be on ABC, with Michael Richards as the star. When that fell through, USA Network picked up the show (with a different star). As it became quite successful, ABC aired 2nd-run episodes, but only for one season.

It was the first USA Network show actually filmed in the USA.

A detective show, there were a lot of allusions to Sherlock Holmes. The main character's first assistant was a doctor. The local law enforcement officers, LEland STottlemeyer and RAndy DEacon* represent Lestrade. And the character's brother also appears in a number of episodes.

*changed to Randy Disher, later

This series was supposed to be an allegory about the rise of Nazism, but it was kind of botched. The network that broadcast the pilot never called it a pilot. As a result, audiences were disappointed when the story was not resolved. Then, instead of ordering a season's worth of episodes, the network decided to resolve the story. The resolution performed so well in the ratings that the network decided to order a season of episodes. But with the original storyline resolved, the series' writers had to concoct a rationale to keep the story going. The Nazi allegory was ruined, and audiences promptly rejected the campy storyline that was offered. The show was canceled (euthanized, really) after 18 episodes. The original pilot is still considered a classic in its genre.

An attempt to revive the series in recent years met with some critical success, but never gained a wide audience. It lasted two seasons, if you can call it that.
