Camp Gunnison

I was living in Colorado when they acquired the Gunnison property. We made many long drives there... some to work on the place and some to attend various meetings. I remember Der Fodder telling about plans to build a restaraunt over the river with a glass-type floor for river viewing, and some building to be constructed along the side of the mountain with a big elevator...also if anyone wanted to build their very own cabin there they could, as long as they let "the ministry" use it most of the time...like 50 or so weeks of the year.

I loved the beauty of the river and mountains and stars. My hubs and I renewed our vows there in some mass couples weekend-thingy, and that was nice (still married over 27 years later).

I also remember grudgingly chipping in for some damned rhinestone-type cowboy suit that the LC decided we should present to VeePee when he graced us with a visit.

Like most things Way, I have mixed feelings.

Before the ROA petting zoo, flies were entertainment and pets for my boys.

(What do you call a fly with no wings? a walk.)

my hair made a leash

and, of course, the above mentioned entertainment.

This did, however, gross out people because our "playground" was a meal tent where we were sitting with friends passing the time away.

fond memories....
