Name that Tune

Twenty-first century song.

"A cinematic vision ensued like the holiest dream
It's someone's calling?
An angel whispers my name but the message relayed is the same:
" Wait till tomorrow, you'll be fine."
But it's gone to the dogs in my mind"

Then, is this "MISTER BRIGHTSIDE?"

No.  Perhaps a few more lyrics may help?

"We took a back road, we're gonna look at the stars
We took a back road in my car
Down to the ocean, it's only water and sand
And in the ocean, we'll hold hands
But I don't really like you
Apologetically dressed in the best but on a heartbeat glide
Without an answer, the thunder speaks from the sky"

"A cinematic vision ensued like the holiest dream
It's someone's calling?
An angel whispers my name but the message relayed is the same:
" Wait till tomorrow, you'll be fine."
But it's gone to the dogs in my mind"

"Mister Brightside" is the only song by The Killers that I know.  If you post the entirety of the lyrics, describe the video, and explain the inspiration for the song, I still won't come any closer than I was yesterday.

It funny you mention it.  The video to the Killers song was directed by Tim Burton.  Unlike you WordWolf, I do know a lot of their music.  Trouble is not anyone playing may know them.

This song "Bones" obviously was directed by Tim Burton.  Skeletons and vintage movie theaters and allusions of nostalgia i.e., "From Here To Eternity", "10".  When the Killers front men Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci sort of offhandedly suggested that they should get Tim Burton to direct the video they were blown away when Burton agreed to do it.  It was his debut music video.  ~Sam's Town~ which is the album the song is from was released in 2006 and Rolling Stone rated it the "Most Underrated Album of the Decade".  It's quite fresh and keeps a good beat.  I recommend giving it a listen or buying.

Next.

Well, I know my banana is older than the rest
And my hair is a tangled beretta. (beretta, beretta)
But I leave my pajamas to Billy Budapest,
And I don't get the gist of your letter. (your letter, your letter)

Catch up!, (catch up!)
Cats and kittens (cats and kittens)
Don't get left behind. (get left behind)
Catch up, (catch up)
Cats and kittens (cats and kittens)
Don't get left behind. (get left behind, get left behind, get left behind)

As I sat in the attic, a piano up my nose,
And the wind played a dreadful cantata. (cantata, cantata)
Sore was I from a crack of an enemy's hose,
And the horrible sound of tomato. (tomato, tomato)

Well, I know my banana is older than the rest
And my hair is a tangled beretta. (beretta, beretta)
But I leave my pajamas to Billy Budapest,
And I don't get the gist of your letter. (your letter, your letter)

Catch up!, (catch up!)
Cats and kittens (cats and kittens)

Catch up, (catch up)

Don't get left behind. (get left behind, get left behind, get left behind)

This song was a song from Paul McCartney's second solo album "Ram" and the idea behind the song was first to put together a song "Monkberry Moon Delight" that the lyrics didn't necessarily mean anything but the idea was to make a song that had lyrics that rhymed.  Childish imaginings.  Monk was what his kids used to call milk and he played around with that.  If you listen to the lyrics they don't really make any sense.  "Catch up!  Cats and kittens, don't get left behind".  or, "I know my banana is older than the rest, and my hair is a tangled beretta".  The sound of the song is a jazzy blues thing.  Paul's voice is raspy.  Great beat too.

Anyway, I've got a new one.

"Times are hard
You're afraid to pay the fee
So you find yourself somebody
Who can do the job for free
When you need a bit of lovin'
Cause your man is out of town
That's the time you get me runnin'
And you know I'll be around"

"Light the candle
Put the lock upon the door
You have sent the maid home early
Like a thousand times before

Like the castle in its corner
In a medieval game
I foresee terrible trouble
And I stay here just the same"

Classic early 70's tune.  Used in the first episode, Season three of "The Sopranos", played in the movie "American Hustle", and played in trailers and advertisements on TV for the movie "Suicide Squad".  Does that help?

Unfortunately, I seem to be the only other person resembling a Steely Dan fan on this thread, and I don't recognize this song.

Well then let's give a listen okay.  I'll post it.  I'm sure that some will recognize it.

I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well
With the chords I'm playing
I can't pretend there's any meaning here
Or in the things I'm saying

But I'm in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
