In violent times

You shouldn't have to sell your soul

In black and white

They really, really ought to know

Those one track minds

That took you for a working boy

Kiss them goodbye

You shouldn't have to jump for joy

You shouldn't have to jump for joy

George

"SHOUT"., by "Tears for Fears."

Not a one-hit-wonder, they also scored with "Sowing the Seeds of Love",

not to mention "Everybody Wants to Rule the World."

Correct. I remember dancing to this song, often; but, other than the chorus, I never heard the words.

The next one shouldn't take long.

"Scooby-dooby-doo."

Isn't this rollin' stones, shoo dooby, shoo dooby,? OK this is a joke. HA HA I know it's not the rollin' stones song Shattered. However, I think both songs had something to do with New York City. :anim-smile:

AFAIK, this song has no connections with NYC, neither by lyrics nor concept.

(If there's any connection at all, it's not an obvious one because I don't see it.)

Sure it does. New Your City is the city that never sleeps, and Frank Sinatra had many ties politically, sociably, corruptibly, in NYC, especially in the night. He was no stranger to NYC. :anim-smile:

I'm thinking "Strangers in the Night" by Sinatra, but only because I posted it recently...

Oops. Well, that's it.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean every song he does has NYC links automatically...

Odd, since I've heard "Homeward Bound" earlier this year and don't think I've heard

"I Feel for You" this DECADE.

*looks it up on wikipedia*

Interesting. The song version's credited to Shaka Khan with Mellie Mel of

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Hw/oB was on the right track, because the Pointer Sisters did record a

version of this on the same album AS "I'm So Excited." (Also the album's name.)

However, I actually got the title as well as an artist, so I got the nod.

Pointer Sister's song I think....I'm so Excited and surely it's been covered by a zillion other people like Chaka Khan.

According to Wikipedia,

it was originally a Prince song, and the Pointer Sisters and Shaka Khan did the only

known covers.

Ok, next song.

"Well, there's people and more people.

What do they know, know, know?

Go to work in some high rise

And vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico."

Well wiki didn't mention the zillion other people who covered it in karaoke bars, pool halls, taverns, pubs and dance halls over the last 20 years either did they? That's kind of where I was going with the zillion thing. And I didn't know that way a Prince song. Anyway.

"Well, there's people and more people.

What do they know, know, know?

Go to work in some high rise

And vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico."

BTW,

that may have been the real name of the song,

but John Cougar Mellencamp titled it "Pink Houses."

You don't know me but I'm your brother

I was raised here in this living hell

You don't know my kind in your world

Fairly soon, the time will tell

You know, when I was in college, I knew somebody who smoked these guys....

Heard tell that he's the hardest workin'

man in show bizz. I Drink Alone ~George Thorogood~

Speaking of George here's another one. (Not that George)

"See I wanted her real bad

And I was about to give in

But that's when she started

talkin' bout true love started takin' bout sin"

My honey, my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf!

She said, "Don't hand me no lines, and

Keep Your Hands to Yourself."

As you mentioned, also George Thorogood.

Next song.

"My love bigger than a Cadillac.

I'll try to show it when you're driving me back.

Your love for me got to be real.

A-for you to know just how I feel."
