I remember a couple of times here, "they" seemed to encourage people to get rid of pictures and memorabilia- that somehow it was devilish, and "just get over it and move on in life, etc, etc, etc.." The branch coordinator was upset to hear the deceased persons voice on the answering machine once.. could have been a lot more gracious about it.

Perhaps. But in other ways, this may be like opening old wounds. In a lot of ways, I think the old victster started a good fight, and left us to fend for ourselves. He seemingly was isolated in his marble castle, while the rest of us were "facing the music" out in the real world..

Def, not quite so sure about that. Bullinger Publishing Trust sold rights for publication to Kregel and others I think.. even der vey bought rights (shared with others though..) to publish the Companion Bible. A few hundred copies were marred with the label "American Christian Press" during their brief ownership of said rights..

Ah, memories of roofing.. I remember a time I went to help somebody with some roofing work.. They covered up a big hole in the roof with some tar paper. The one guy turned to the other and said, "no problem here, WE'LL remember that there is a hole there.." Then I leisurely take a stroll accross the roof.. No problem for THEM! :D-->

There is some logic in this question, I think.. Lessee. vic "borrowed" a plenty from Bullinger, Kenyon, etc. Yet he still allowed their works to be sold in the bookstore. Why? But we get to Leonard, who was still alive at the time.. Why not Leonard's materials? The idea that Leonard's works were somehow "messed up" or "incomplete" do not agree with this statement: PERFECTLY accurate, in vics own words.

A little side note, hopefully not too far off the beaten track.. Why is it that the bookstore offered other works, like Bullinger, Kenyon, etc.- but NOT Leonards? Leonards materials were available for purchase, just as well as the others. The name "Leonard" was almost whispered under vic's Drambuie soaked breath.. All I heard about Leonard was this little exerpt in TWLIL. I dunno- I can only guess, but perhaps vic was TERRIFIED at the prospect of "HIS" people picking up Leonard's book, and reading RHST line by line, and word by word..

Emphasis: mine. Another "amazing" coincidence- first he comes up with Bullinger's stuff independantly, other folks stuff, and now, B.G.'s. It's just "amazing" to me..

Now I know what it was.. A couple of mornings ago I was at a local farmers market. Saw rows and rows of bushels of tomatoes. I have recently moved to a location where I can't pack away loads of tomatoes for the winter, like before.. kind of miss that in a way. Must have been thinking of a more immediate, usefull purpose for all of those tomatoes.. More refined, perhaps. But you take the said tomatoes, put them in a cardboard box in a warm closet for about two weeks, and they are much more "cultured" than the lemons..

I agree.. but as to why- I think people were hooked and reeled in with the promises of absoluteness. "You can have anything you want, and WE can show you how.." I wonder if the old man was crossing his fingers, hoping that the years of horse**** and mind numbing attention to details would keep us too busy to remember the former promises, when he slipped "the real deal" to us in the adv class..

George, at least some of us that came out of that ....hole don't have to beat ourselves up any more just because we're miserable.. When I'm miserable now, at least I can enjoy it. :)-->

The answer to that would be simple. I remember back in the eighties, when those "valiant for the truth" would rent out a hotel room somewhere, rent or buy an expensive high speed tape duplicater, thousands of blank cassettes, and spend an otherwise valuable weekend copying old vic's stuff like there was no tomorrow.. thinking somehow it was their DUTY to keep the crap afloat, instead of buried. No offense to any here that somehow was convinced that this was the right thing to do at the time. I did some equally ridiculous things in the name of drinking the Kool Aid.. but really, with this new effort, I see no difference. I detect a slight amount of paranoia in this, and relief- that the MAN'S work may actually live beyond this generation.. Honestly- Running the film class is NOT: 1. gonna save the world. 2. going to reveal the word like it has not been known since A.D. thirty or so. 3. remotely going to reuinite all of "Wayendumb" that is scattered to the four winds. 4. gonna help YOUR reputation. You've sat through the stinking thing sixty some times, why don't YOU teach it? But no.. I would call it spiritual laziness, along with additional helping of blindness tossed in the mix. "What about standing on your own two feet"?

Yep. But is it the RIGHT answer? Or does every question live in a biblical context? "Why is the sky blue".. Better get out a concordance to find the answer to this one.. Maybe the book should have been named: "Da Vey. vic (and later loy), living in la-la land". Questionable. Sounds more like an LSD experience.. maybe somebody slipped the old codger a "mickey".. Perhaps this supposedly validated his claim that he forgot more than that poor ole preacher ever knew.. at least to him.

Well, it doesn't look like CFFM's website, not even close. I wonder if the guy who wrote the stuff thinks he is vic reincarnated.. Maybe if the guy IS part of CFFM, he's afraid to voice it. First one on record to get marked and avoided by an offshoot, at least publically.
